We've been meaning to stop by Saint Valentine for months, so when we finally found ourselves hungry late this past Saturday after a DSO concert, we had to swing over and grab some bites to eat. As big fans of Misti Norris and Petra, we first heard about Rainbow Cat when it was still a temporary popup at the bar. Having now tried her newer creations at Saint Valentine, we can safely say we'll definitely be back in the future for the drinks and vibe as well. Service was great throughout, with Paul and several other bartenders and servers casually conversing with and taking care of us the whole time we were there. It was super fun getting a glimpse of how the bar and kitchen work and also how enthusiastic everyone else also is about Misti's food. My husband and I started with a couple drinks that hit the spot: my Bryan St. Swizzle was colorful and refreshing, and my husband's Cheri Cheri Lady was smoky and smooth. We split three food items that most intrigued us, and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the Unicorn Dog, which came with a flavorful sausage with a delightful snap atop a bed of the best crispy rice we've had in a while. Spam Musubi was definitely also an elevated version of the classic, and the potato noods were basically a baked potato in noodle soup form, which I loved. We were recommended the Sour Patch to go with the Unicorn Dog but honestly the pickles weren't super necessary IMO; the dish was already wonderfully balanced with the mustard and onions. We ended the night with the cinnamon toast crunch dessert which was a lovely cap to the meal. The whipped milk was super unique, though my husband did say he would've preferred a slightly sweeter semifreddo, which would also mimic the temperature of cereal milk better. Something to consider for a future dessert maybe! We'll find ourselves downtown a little more now that the fall sports season is getting under way, so I can't wait to come back when we're in the area and try other things on the menu! read more

I met my friends here for happy hour, and we were all pleasantly surprised by the food. The black garlic burger was divine! Honestly the best burger I've had in a very long time, and everyone kept raving about how perfect it was. I also tried the onion rings and hash browns & caviar which interesting but great! Our waiter was patient and checked on us at a steady pace as more people trickled in to join our table. The only thing that fell flat, literally, was the glass of champagne. I had seen Saint Valentine multiple times in passing but never checked it out as it was never near my destination and I couldn't tell the vibe from the outside, but I decided to make a point to stop and was so worth it! The staff is so kind and makes you feel like a regular even upon your first visit. We ordered the La Niña margarita, Dallas Blonde, and a tequila special for drinks. The La Niña is award winning and definitely deserving of its title, and the tequila special was so unique! In regards to the food, we ordered chicken wings & miso garlic noodles. Amazon drinks and small bites in a non pretentious location that you can probably get in without a reservation in east dallas -- how's that for a run on sentence! We stopped by on a random Saturday night and had a great experience. We sat at the bar and I have to say we had the best noodles I've had in a long time. The cocktails are definitely made with care and they take their time. You know what they are doing because their ice game is strong (crystal clear rocks that pair with the cocktails). All in all a great addition to the hood and I hope to be back often! Finally, the spot is super reasonably priced and in a city where $20+ cocktails is becoming the norm, that's a win. We are so excited to have this spot in the neighborhood. We stopped in on a whim after walking by with the dogs and seeing they were finally open. The price point on the food is an amazing value for elevated comfort food. Highly recommend the potatoes with caviar and the Cesar salad. The cocktails are expectedly spectacular and live up to their pedigree, given the background of the owners. Lots to choose from without being overwhelming. Our server was fantastic. So excited it's finally open! We were there Wednesday for my birthday and it was jumping! Thankfully, a table opened up in the back. I had the Montclair Manhattan which was good but my 2nd drink, the Space Vato, was sublime! My friends also had a great mocktail, Pink Negroni, and Big Booty Trudy. I didn't eat, but we shared some Furikake fries (fun) and I was told the play on a Philly Cheesestake was amazing. We plan to go back and really dig into the food menu. Everyone who worked there was amazing! So friendly, patient, and knowledge. They really made us feel special and as if the place wasn't crowded. I went here for a work happy hour on a Thursday evening, and we all agreed it was a great choice. Friendly, welcoming service in a trendy and fun environment. It was below freezing, so that may have something to do with all the available parking, but it was super convenient behind the building. Cocktails were delicious, and some chose from the delightfully unpretentious beer list. One coworker had the burger and was very satisfied (it looked amazing), and the table had a couple of appetizers, including the clever caviar served on hash browns. No line, waitlist or pretentious vibes here. Just a staff trying to introduce Dallas to new-wave cocktails at a very reasonable price point. Everything is awesome about the place -- the food, the drinks and the vibe. Food is not an afterthought here, though the innovative drinks suggest real attention and care given to the menu. The fries are great, and the grilled Caesar is wonderful. Of course, as with any "neighborhood" bar, the service and atmosphere are everything and Saint Valentine does no disappoint.
