As it actually said in the backs of their tee shirts, the staff are sassy but overall, in a good way. The banter is frequent as many customers are regulars. Food menu is limited for allergies, but seem willing to work around customers with them (me). Menu could stand an update as well as the decor, but the rustic and pared down look is probably their trademark now. Diners are my thing and this place didn't dissapoint. First thing I saw when I walked in were muffins the size of Montana. Blueberry muffins are my biggest vice and I had to get one. It was delicous. Big blueberries and the muffin was moist. My family ordered an array of items including sweet bread french toast, pancakes, omelets and eggs benedict. All were absolutely delicous. Coffee was good. Corn beef hash was delicous. Service was excellent. Hash browns were exactly the way I like them - stringy like Waffle House. Pricing is very good. My family of five ate for $5 and we ordered a LOT of food. Only thing I miss when going to these northern diners is grits and fresh squeezed OJ but hey....everything else is great. read more

Alice's Last Stop is my new favorite breakfast joint! They have homemade bread, bagels, biscuits, and muffins. They make almost everything from scratch, including corned beef and chourico hashes, and even chili for omelets. The prices are awesome too, and this is the only restaurant I have ever seen that actually takes money off of your bill if you decide not to get homefries or toast. I'm on the fence for recommendation. I definitely did not like the homefries: brown potatoes, dry & lousy seasoning. However, they have other potato options. The Irish eggs bene was actually pretty good, eggs cooked just right and homestyle hash. They have thick Texas french toast, even though it's still a standard size piece of bread. I have visited Alice's a few times with my wife and daughter, and we have always enjoyed their breakfast offerings. The food is delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. My only real complaint is that the wait can sometimes be somewhat long, and the restaurant doesn't really have anywhere to wait inside. You are able to wait outside, and remain out of the rain, but when there are a lot of people waiting it can be a bit dicey maintaining the order of next entry when a table opens up. read more

It's your typical breakfast place. Maybe I'm biased because I've been exposed to the magical wonder that is Dave's Diner, but Alice's really doesn't impress me too much. If you're going during the weekend- expect a wait. There's not much to complain about as far as prices go, I paid $20 for the girlfriend and I. We both got two eggs, toast, home fries and a meat. She got a muffin on the side as well as chocolate milk, and I got a bagel with cream cheese. So, for $20, that's a pretty decent amount of food. The home fries are the one thing that I prefer here over Dave's. They're perfectly seasoned, and perfectly crispy. As far as everything else goes, it's pretty unremarkable. Don't come here expecting amazing service, because you will be severely disappointed. read more

I have been here for breakfast many times, never any complaints only great experiences. Last week I went for lunch and it was so delicious and came hot, and the portions were enough for 3 meals for me. We entered the restaurant and it was packed, the girl behind the counter looked like we bothered her by coming here. She said there was nothing empty yet. So, we decided to wait. This is a great place to go to if you are craving a hearty breakfast. The portions are large and delicious. They have homemade toast which is really good. I would recommend the Irish Eggs Benedict which is like a traditional eggs benedict except instead of ham it uses hash. In addition, their homefries are well seasoned. This is what breakfast is all about...7 days a week. They just get it. Good food. Cheap. Fast. Excellent, friendly waitresses, a smiling hostess to greet you when you come in. After 8:15am or so on Sat and Sun, you will probably have to wait a few minutes for a table, but since they expanded in May 09, it's gotten better. It is worth the wait!! Bummer, absolute bummer. We have been going to Alice's for too many years to count. That, unfortunately, has come to an end. Over the course of time Alice's has been good and cheap. But for the last year or so a sudden slip in customer service has been the norm for many a Saturday mornings. I get it when places are busy you may need to wait but having to wait because a waitress's boy toy is sitting alone on a four top causing you and others to wait is unexplainable in my book. But alas I have been overlooking that for months now, how any operation allows such behavior from staff is beyond belief. Now for the seemingly small thing that has completely turned me away from Alice's for good. On a recent Saturday morning ( to be transparent I only go on Saturday mornings I don't know or care what goes on other days) I ordered country scrambled eggs. The waitress had no idea what that was, expected, so I explained it to her and her immediate response was she doesn't like to do requests when it's busy. For those of you who don't know what country scrambled is it's simple. Crack eggs on the flat top like normal over easy, when you turn them, then just whack them around with the spatula and scramble them up and put them on the plate, simple right? Wrong, I was told in no uncertain terms SHE SAID NO. What the hell! Are you kidding me, are you that incompetent. So instead I ordered poached eggs because they are a pain in the ass to cook right! I've been in this business way too long to be hoodwinked by stupidity. Such incompetence blows my freaking mind! It's hard to ask for more from a breakfast place. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the special combos. The food is fantastic for breakfast fare with some of the best home made muffins you'll find. For awhile I found myself stopping in to just get a muffin. Heck, the muffins are so good a friend of mine from out of town fell in love with them and went wild when I brought one down to Philly on a visit. The mood is very crass, the place prides itself on being low brow and that's what you want from a diner, right? Service is reasonably quick and I never have to wait too long for food. Our family's go-to place for breakfast or lunch in town. They have a ton of options - eggs, omelette, waffles, French toasts, lots of specials, etc... Lunch is the same way. Lots of options. Everything is made to order and very good. We've been there many times on a Friday night for dinner. Again, food is good and well priced.
