There were 4 options to chose from and I ordered the Banana Coffee (iced coffee with banana and milk), and it was absolutely delicious. My only critique was the wait time. Although the café was busy and we were told it would be about five minutes, it ended up being closer to twenty. The drink was worth the wait, but I hope service is a little quicker on my next visit. To enter the parking lot the right way, turn down Hobson St instead for access to their parking lot, which is behind the building. Street parking on Broadway is also an option. The spaces in the back lot are tight, so if you're rolling up in a pickup truck, good luck. Parking drama aside, Society Coffee Bar is a great little spot. The interior is cozy and well thought out, with bar seats, booths, and tables giving you plenty of options depending on your vibe. I'm not a fancy latte guy; I don't do the flavored syrups and all that. That said, they have a nice selection if that's your thing. I ordered a nitro cold brew and it was smooth and almost creamy the way a good nitro should be, with a bright, clean flavor. My one small gripe is that I couldn't find any mention of what coffee they actually use. I'd love to know the roaster behind the cup. For food, I had the Turkey Pesto Bacon sandwich on sourdough; it was the perfect lunch. Who doesn't love sourdough? Everything in it was balanced just right with nothing overpowering anything else. The ingredients were actually cooked together and well seasoned making for a cohesive dish rather than one of those bowls that just dumps separate ingredients into a bowl that lacks flavor. The honey lavender scone was also great - nice texture - almost biscuit like tbh, and the lavender flavor was a little too subtle for me to really taste, but I still enjoyed it. The place is cute as well but be warned they don't let you use a laptop here which I'm not a fan of. I didn't have a laptop on me but I know a lot of people like to go to cafes and do some work. My friends got sandwiches and they rated them 10/10. The bread looked like they had the perfect texture.

Little Compton, Tiverton, and Westport have an old New England intelligence: practical, coastal, and allergic to excess. The mood is L.L.Bean utility, Patagonia values, and Helly Hansen competence, with a little yacht club literacy and none of the theater. Groundswell respects that world, then adds candlelight, espresso, and French mischief. There is practical brilliance in having a venue this chic nearby, because city slickers inevitably visit, and family members must sometimes be kept happy even when their taste tests our patience. The cafe is the heart of the experience for me. The building was previously The Provender, which we loved, and Groundswell deepened our fondness for that chapter rather than simply replacing what came before it. There is a French ease to the venue, patio, and food, as though someone raised between Paris and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat came to New England, fell hard for its privacy, then built the dream cafe they wished existed. It has continental polish, but the soul is still Rhode Island. Even when the cafe is busy, it works beautifully. The line moves through the building in an intuitive U-shaped flow, showing that someone thought carefully about summer traffic while preserving intimacy. The food comes quickly, but not instantly, and that distinction matters; do not come here in a rush. I am hazy on the full menu, but the yogurt parfait, cinnamon toast, and Caesar salad have stayed with me, and I am pretty sure someone in my family had a turkey and pesto sandwich that looked exactly right. The pace is deliberate, and the point is to savor the coffee, the patio, and people-watching. The pricing feels appropriate, especially for a seasonal business with only a few intense months to make the year work. Nothing feels careless here, which is rare for an experience built so carefully around atmosphere. That sense of intention is what makes it feel polished without becoming stiff. I deeply respect seeing David on site in early July. He is the designer, owner, and operator I recognize as the face of the business, though I am sure many talented people are involved. He is warm, kind, and hands-on, with experience and wisdom evident in a subtle, understated way. He embodies Groundswell's soul and upholds the brand standard in person without making it feel rigid. The broader Groundswell property also makes the whole experience feel original. The shops and garden spaces are intensely charming, with a level of discernment that makes you slow down and look harder. The home goods, gardening pieces, and table settings are so tasteful that I always leave thinking I would be thrilled to have David and his team design my home. I can imagine that eye in the city or near the beach, and just as easily in a country house or alpine retreat. What Groundswell brings to this community is the perfect amount of change. This region is timeless, but every timeless community benefits from careful progress when sprinkled with respect, proportion, and self-awareness. I have not yet been to David's Bristol restaurant, The Franklin, but after seeing the pride he pours into Groundswell, I want to go soon. I do not know the full Groundswell Design Group portfolio, but I suspect this Tiverton project is a crown jewel: something he loves deeply, almost like a child, and the culmination of decades of work, research, and self-criticism; it gives this community French flair, northeastern discernment, and a welcome venue to gather: Très bien!

They'll call you when your drinks are ready so you can add cream or sugar yourself, but they usually bring food out to you. First of all, their chai is amazing. So good. They have different flavors; I'm a big fan of the vanilla chai. My dad LOVES their cappuccinos. I've had bit sweet and savory crepes here, and they're all great. They have some you can order on the menu but there is a big make-your-own menu with a whole slew of options. Usually I get the Brie, fruit, and honey crepe, it's so light, sweet; and summery!

A staff member came out from the back and began yelling at me at the counter. I am a faculty member at Roger Williams and I was there with a student and line was to the door behind me. "that's a latte! you're just being cheap! I know its a Tik Tok Hack!" I'm 56. I've never been on Tik Tok. I wasn't trying to "hack" anything. I just wanted a splash of oatmilk in my $4 2 oz coffee. I told her I didn't know what she was going on about ridiculing in front of everyone in the restaurant. Then, she rolled her eyes and told me "I'll give you a thimble-full. That's it.!" There was plenty of side street parking and there are signs you're in the right place as the street is lined with Portuguese flags. I did not expect it to be so spacious on the inside but there are plenty of tables all along the wall, some cozier sections with couches and comfortable chairs, and a bar to the right-hand side. I was a fan of the navy blue ceiling. They have their pastries in clean display cases and the small and large cups on display for reference to drink sizes. Since my friend and I were going to share a drink, we got a large Bolacha Maria. It came in a plastic cup even though we were dining in, so I assume they only have reusable glass cups for small sizes only. We also ordered a blueberry muffin buttered and grilled, and of course, a pastel de nata. The blueberry muffin was my friend's idea and at first I thought it was the worst choice because we were at a Portuguese café, so my mind went to trying more traditional options. But I was proven wrong because it was absolutely delicious, especially the grilled surface. The bread was very moist, there was a perfect among of blueberries and they weren't too tart, and the muffin wasn't overly sweet. I went to Portugal last year so my ranking system of pastel de nata is a bit critical, but these were solid. The custard was good, I just wish the outside was a bit more flaky/crispy. The coffee was also very good and it came with a Maria cookie on top. The staff were very friendly. I inquired about what to do with dishes once you're done eating and I was told to just leave it on the table and they'll come around for it which is nice.
