My foot muscles were really tense from work and all the walking--probably also from not wearing the right footwear--but the masseur did an excellent job working through the tension and helping them relax. There is literally no one like her-- an absolute perfectionist and the best esthetician I have ever been to. Even after moving to California and Miami, I always travel back to New York to see her because she is the best. When I am unable to see her, I have tried other places like Skin Spirit in Palo Alto, and Skintique in coral gables, but they genuinely fall far below what Iva provides. Iva and Aphrodite are like family to me. They are both extremely passionate about what they do and they are perfectionists, meticulously extracting from every pore with a magnifying glass. Whenever I go, it's like the most amazing day of my life and for weeks after my skin is completely clear. There is no need to put on make up because my skin looks so radiant and healthy due to their extractions and galvanic soothing therapy (which Iva actually explained to me about how it works at a cellular level through electroosmosis). She also gave me some samples of some creams that I had no clue existed but is something that I actually need! The wax service itself was decent. I just got my eyebrows cleaned up and my upper lip wax. I feel like she didn't pay enough attention to detail to my brows, but I don't get those waxed often so I'll just choose a different technician in the future. They use a different kind of wax here than what I'm used to, and I liked it better!! It dries insanely fast on the skin then they just peel the wax up itself - no need for using papers to peel it off. I feel like this wax doesn't pull on the skin as much and didn't hurt near as much. Though the site showed that they had no availability on this date I called and was able to be fit in that same day. The receptionist mentioned that my esthetician Rebecca had a language barrier, but she and I got on perfectly fine during my hour long service. She started with cleansing and steaming my face, then got to work using the microdermabrasion and hydration tools which felt like a small suction running up and down my face. I'd never had any type of dermabrasion done to my face before and was a little nervous about how uncomfortable it would feel, but the facial was virtually painless. My skin was feeling a little hot after the treatment, but luckily the next step was a cooling facial mask that smelled kind of like eucalyptus. Rebecca massaged my arms and neck while I had this on, which was my favorite part of the facial. She applied some cream as a finish at the end, and when I looked at my face again my skin looked notably less dull. My blackheads were no longer so visible, and even my pores seemed tighter. This facial was on the pricier side, but I was happy to learn that they have more inexpensive options like the glow and go facial - just $65. The spa itself is beautiful and brand new. It's a relaxing atmosphere which is hard to cultivate when you're stepping in off busy Steinway street. I will absolutely be back.
