I don't know where to start. First off, you won't find a better esthetician in the tri-state area (my skincare obsessed friend is now driving to Astoria from Newtown Connecticut.) What I like most about Evelyn is that she's a seasoned professional, and because of it is extremely knowledgeable and creates customized plans for your skin type (both short term during the facial and long term after you've left her space.) My mom and I both have complicated skin (acne prone -cystic and hormonal, reactive, sensitive... you name it), and Evelyn has been the only person thus far who has been able to help. I also love that she doesn't push her products on you like other esthetician's - she works with your existing products and gives you her professional opinion on what you should or maybe shouldn't continue using. The trilogy and Skin fitness products that she carries have been the only thing to work for me personally (i cheated on Evelyn once, got targeted by an influencer on Instagram and spent a ton of money on skin care products that made me break out- posting photos here)- after three sessions with Evelyn my skin was balanced again and is pretty back to normal. To her credit, the facial message she provided felt good and the creams were aromatic, however, the overall result, in my opinion, wasn't worth the money. Having paid $200 plus for a facial treatment, I expected to see better results. I went in for the perfectly polished & glowing treatment which would include microdermabrasion but after seeing my skin, Evelyn suggested we do the Purifying/Acne Facial. I decided to follow her recommendation, thinking that it would help address my skin concerns. But as the photo depicts, I left with results that didn't really address my hyperpigmentation. I think if you are looking for an overpriced facial, this place is right for you but if you are seeking meaningful results, go elsewhere. read more

I came because of the good Yelp review. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I got Evelyn, the owner of this shop, for deep pore cleansing. I would have expect that she would be more informative during and after the facial. Also, it was rather impersonal. I didn't feel that the facial was exceptional or above what others would offer. I think the reviews were a little over-rated. I do like the quaintness of the shop and the spaciousness of the room. The AC was too loud for my liking. I regret to say I will not be returning to Rejuvenate. I gave Rejuvenate 2 tries for facials. Both times, the esthetician made me feel a bit embarrassed for using drug store products on my skin, and encouraged me to buy the expensive products in their store. Understandable, however... I really just enjoy a facial once every few months as a relaxing treat to help my skin, and am not interested in being pressured to buy the expensive products in the store. Moving on. My most recent facial was bizarre. The [same] esthetician, in the middle of the treatment, got up and left with out saying where she was going or when she'd be back, leaving me under the steamer. She was gone for what i can only estimate to be, maybe 20 minutes? There was no way for me to actually know how long she was gone for, but it was long enough that i certainly felt neglected. On that same note, she did not explain any of the products she used on my skin or what they were used for. She also used something that felt as though it had an electrical current on my face, and did not explain what that was. I've had facials at spas before and the estheticians never made me feel like a silly person for using products I can afford to buy regularly. They had explained the products they used, and obviously tried to sell their spa products, but never pressured me, and always offered samples of products. And CERTAINLY no one ever got up and LEFT in the middle of a treatment for an awkwardly long time. Rejuvenate is the only spa in Astoria that I've found to be a true spa (opposed to a nail salon), which is why I'm so disappointed. There's really no other option in the area. read more

For years my hairstylist Carlos Vera http://www.visionofvera.com has been telling me to go see Evelyn to help me with my acne outbreaks/ bad skins. For years have I ignored his advice. I used to to go Christine Chin, but she is just so expensive and far away from me so I stopped going. Of course my skin became a total disaster and then I remembered Carlos's advice. I called the salon and made the appointment. I love the fact that she takes her time to explain her vision and believes, how she changed her skin by changing her eating patterns and her advice on pro biotics and fish oils. We opted for a peel and a deep cleanse/ extraction facial. I have to admit that I was a bit unsure of the extractions because I am used to be poked with a lancet, but the results were great. A couple of days later my skin looked really healthy. The price of $95 for the extractions is something I can live with, especially seeing the fact that I will have to go twice a month in order to keep my outbreaks at bay in these Summer months. I highly recommend Rejuvenate and Evelyn. About the space itself, I thought it was cozy and efficient. I mean I go for facials to see results, not to fall a sleep of have a steam shower in the spa and results I got. read more

I frequent Rejuvenate on a fairly regular basis. This place is alright, but there are definate pros and cons. Pros: - For me, it is very close to my house, which is a huge pro. - Very friendly staff - they are always cheerful and accomodating. The staff are all polite and friendly. The therapists do a good job. - Prices cheaper than in Manhattan. An hour Sweedish is $80 as opposed to $100. Cons: - Outside noise. It's a very small spa and you can hear people speaking in the lobby and any outside noise on the street which can be distracting and take away from ones relaxation treatment. However, they do play soothing music which helps to drown out the outside noise. - No bells or whistles. Maybe I am spoiled by Canyon Ranch spas, but I am used to having a sauna service before getting a massage treatment, which you don't get here, which may leave one feeling slightly rushed. Overall though, the facility is very clean and the services are very good. I have had three different therapists while there and they were all attentive and good. It may not be the lavish indulgence of a Manhattan spa, but it gets the job done and I enjoy going there. read more

I am truly grateful that I met Evelyn. We had conversations about holistic skincare, she shared her experiences, she listened to my struggles and gave her insight... overall, our conversations initiated me to "revamp" my skincare by improving my efforts on all fronts to fight my hormonal acne - diet, hormones, stress, and topical skincare products. I went in for a short consultation, and since then, I've had 2 appts. She recommended the deep pore cleansing facial and salicylic acid peel for me the first time. And another SA peel two weeks after. Evelyn is gentle in the facial. I remember the final seaweed peel feeling very soothing. My skin felt cleaner, softer and more supple afterwards. Oh, and her chair is so comfortable! Some comments mentioned Evelyn as a product pusher... she may seem this way... but I think she is simply promoting what she believes in and what has worked for her and her clients. She is against mineral oil-based products... not surprising as this is the position of environmental groups and people who believe in nature-based everything. Being in the field of chemical regulation and scientific risk assessment, I don't think there are any actual scientific evidence that proves the negative claims on mineral oil. Overall, I think Evelyn is excellent as an esthetician, and a lovely role model in terms of healthy eating, being real and a positive attitude. Rejuvenate spa is a hidden gem and I'm so happy I found it. This spa has an inviting ambience and everyone there is welcoming and every visit is a treat! Personally, I don't like corporate anything - so I would probably never go to a Bliss, Exhale, or any spa like that, so I have been searching for a more personal spa experience for years all over NYC and I'm pretty sure I won't not be going anywhere else now! They carry lines of natural, cruelty free, skin cleansers, makeup and nailpolish in addition to facial / skin services, so that is what I started with. They also are a fair price for such high quality. So far I have purchased the Ella & Mila 7-free vegan nail polish and I love it. High quality sheen and the colors provided are always what is "in" at the time. I also started with some samples of the trilogy line and loved the cream cleanser and moisturizer. Since I loved the products, I made an appointment for a Deep Pore Cleanse. This was such a relaxing experience and I loved the feeling of all of the products during the cleanse and after. Evelyn also makes some of her own, holistic products which also felt fantastic. Evelyn made great suggestions to improve my skin as I have always suffered from breakouts, and it was not all product based. It was more ingredient and diet based. I booked an eyebrow shaping appointment at Rejuvenate last Friday (10.21.11) and the entire experience was quite lovely. The esthetician (I wish I could remember her name) was very friendly. I have strange eyebrows in the sense that they are sparse in some spots and not in others so I have had issues finding someone who can really make them look great. I actually hadn't waxed by brows in about 5+ months at the time of my appointment and they were looking pretty unruly. The waxing didn't hurt at all, and she took a full 20ish minutes waxing, tweezing and perfecting my brows. Seriously, they looked amazing once she was done. And again, totally painless. I was so pleased with the service and results that I booked a Brazilian for the following week. Finding a good waxer is not an easy task and luckily for me I think I may have found the perfect one for me. Bonus points, Rejuvenate is literally 150' away from my apartment. read more

Getting a handle on my skin has been a journey. I have been suffering from acne for the last 10 years. It ranges from a few white heads to several cystic pimples. I have tried it all from accutane to home remedies. The accutane was working but I couldn't handle the side effects. I also couldn't figure out what was causing my breakouts so they continued. I then was left with scarring and tried tons of natural remedies which just caused my skin to become dry in some areas and was not helping my breakouts. So when I was ready financially to afford facials I did my research! Upon arriving Evelyn offered very thorough details about the process, she is extremely knowledgable and you can see her heart is in her work. She was able to recommend products that have been working really nice with my skin, as well as natural makeup companies. She even educated me on certain foods that could be triggering my breakouts. The whole experience is calming and effective. Every time I go I see results but remember there is no quick fix for acne, it takes time but I promise that seeing her will point you in the right direction! I cannot express my happiness from the treatments Evelyn has given me. I've been going to dermatologists since I can remember and I have NEVER felt more at east and comfortable with someone. Evelyn goes through everything she does and tells you about it. Now, in my 30s, my skin is changing and I had dark spots, not from the sun but more hormonal and Evelyn talked to me about them, letting me know that as a woman, your body changes, PH balances, etc. etc. ... Evelyn and Ana are great at what they do and always do their best to make you feel comfotable. Best of all they share their knowledge about skincare with you to make you understand. I had some concerns with my face, due to the fact that it is very sensitive and I went to Evelyn and Ana helped me out so much and I couldnt be happier. They never force your or put you in an akward position to buy their products, they let you make that decision on you own. I hate going to spa and have them almost force you or make you feel bad you dont purchase their products. And to top it all off their prices and very reasonable, not cheap or expensive. A new Astoria neighbor introduced me to Rejuvenate two years ago. She found Rejuvenate after becoming allergic to many skin care products and learned it is one of the few NYC skin care salons that carries Trilogy, the organic skin care line. I suffer from rosacea, a skin ailment that creates redness, blotchiness and clogged pores. So for years I used facials at NYC spas to maintain clearer skin. After my friend introduced me to Rejuvenate, I became a regular customer. I also now use their Trilogy skin creams and their organic Afterglow cosmetics. The salon, which is small but beautifully designed, always has several votive candles lit and low, soothing music playing during treatments. I am provided a warm robe. The treatment bed has fresh sheets and a warm, clean natural-fiber blanket. During my treatments, Evelyn, the owner of Rejuvenate, has educated me about how using probiotics and other vitamins can help balance out the issues that rosacea causes. My skin has never looked better. I also no longer use any skin care products that are not organic. Rejuvenate is a quick subway ride from Manhattan on the N or Q line. Ditmars, the neighborhood where it is located, is the last subway stop in Astoria. The street where Rejuvenate is located is charming and filled with cafes, a roomy coffee bar and three or four Greek restaurants, as well as a health food shop with delicious home-baked cookies. So if you have not visited Astoria before and have the time, come an hour earlier to stroll around and enjoy the calmer contrast to the city. I am very impressed with Evelyn and I'm so happy that I stopped in one day on my way to the market. It's only about 2 blocks from my house! I had read some reviews online about her expertise with acne. The day I stopped in, I wanted to ask her prices and about some mild-moderate adult acne I had been experiencing. (I never had a pimple until age 28 and then my face went absolutely nuts!!!) Despite there being several people in the space (it's not too large in the waiting area), she took the time to listen and give me some great advice. I decided to book a facial before leaving that day. My first appointment she decided that the best option was microdermabrasion and then suggested that I come back after about 2 weeks for a facial/salicylic peel. She said both would help considerably with the redness and post pigmentation from the acne. A few days after the microdermabrasion I peeled a bit in some spots, but after a week the dryness was gone and my face already looked 90% better! I still had a few blemishes, but the tone was so much better and a lot of the post-hyperpigmentation from old acne spots was significantly lighter. As she recommended, I went back after about 2 weeks and got a deep pore cleansing facial and peel. The results were fantastic! I still have a few small spots here and there, but I can finally leave my house without obsessing about putting layers of mineral makeup on to cover the old scarring and new pimples. I also got a sample on my first visit of the Trilogy rosehip oil and ended up purchasing a full size as well as the Cream Cleanser. I think the oil is also helping a lot to lighten the red spots left behind. I love that she uses organic products that are high quality. I have super-sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts and these products haven't caused me to react. The oil is fantastic, it's really helped hydrate my skin. I'll be going back in a few weeks for my final microderm and by then most of what's been plaguing me for months should be gone. She also noted by where my acne was on my first visit that I could be experiencing problems with digestion/colon and after getting on some supplements to heal my gut along with taking Essential Fatty Acids daily, my acne has almost disappeared in only 2 weeks, minus a few little bumps that sporadically appear - but nothing like before. PROS: It's really close to my house, which is amazing. Evelyn believes in healing the body from the inside out, so proper nutrition and exercise are a must! The space is cute, very clean, the staff is very friendly and she is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to helping her clients get their face/body back on track. Plus, the prices are very competitive - more affordable than anyone I've ever been to in the city, and her services are at the same level as any fancy Manhattan spa, minus some of the glitz. But who cares about that when your face looks awesome afterwards? I would even make the trip here if I lived in the city, it's worth it for REAL RESULTS. CONS: My only complaint was that on my first treatment there was someone getting a massage in the next room and I could hear everything and I couldn't really speak as to not disturb them, so if you're looking for a super-private treatment room, this isn't it, but there isn't really any need to do much chatting while you're getting a facial anyway.
