Aljibani Halal Market is a gem! Grabbed a quick lamb shwarma sandwich from their counter today...and it was go very good! I strolled in to find multiple people buying their whole spiced rotisserie chicken. That's a good sign to me if people are buying whole chickens at lunch. The menu is pretty simple and the prepared foods counter is right next to the butcher counter. Sandwiches, whole plates, biryani, stews, and salads. The sandwiches come in lamb, beef and chicken. It's only $1 more for lamb. You get pita that's split open and then stuffed generously with tender lamb, cucumber yoghurt, and veggies for $7.99. I got a small and it was the perfect amount of food. The hot lamb is delicately spiced so the lamb-y aroma is still noticeable. The cucumber yoghurt and veggies are super cold (but flavorful) to provide a sharp contrast in textures and temperature to the lamb. The folks here are welcoming, but also very efficient. That shwarma sandwich was put together within a couple of minutes. There are tables outside the grocery store if you'd like to stay and eat, however there were a group of friends gathered today. I found this place through restaurant.com and decided to give this place a try. (FYI they do not accept the restaurant.com certificate). This is actually a small halal market with a hot foods section on one side of the store. They have a butcher counter with fresh meats, a produce section and dry goods. It's a good place to get your halal groceries and some interesting looking desserts. I'm not familiar with middle eastern sweets, so I think I'll be back to pick up more to try. I decided to try everything they had in stock, so I purchased a rotisserie chicken, the chicken curry, chicken shawarma, lamb shawarma, and chicken biryani. They also offer falafel but ran out when I was there. Combos come with your choice of 2 sides. I got the chicken salad, tzatziki, hummus and tomato cucumber salad. The hummus tastes fresh and the tzatziki was nice with my pitas. Prices are affordable and portions are good sized. *Rotisserie chicken - 5/5. Well seasoned and delicious! This seems to be a popular item as the other people that came in after me wanted to buy it too, and one lady left because they ran out for the day. *Chicken shawarma - 4/5. Chunks of chicken on a bed of rice, but could use more seasoning. *Lamb shawarma - 4/5. My family enjoyed this but though it could use more seasoning. *Chicken Biryani - 3/5. Spicy but lacked flavor. Also watch for bones, there are a lot of them in this dish. Chicken was also dry. *Chicken Curry - 3/5. Like the biryani, the chicken was spicy, but didn't really have flavor and was also dry. The man serving the food is exceptionally kind and funny. He even gave me an extra side out of generosity. Supporting small businesses is the way to go. If you want Mediterranean food, you have to try this place. ~Order~ Lamb Shank Combo Plate: Where do I BEGIN? The lamb shank fell straight off the bone and was amazingggggg. Every Mediterranean spot I go to cooks lamb terribly, but that is not the case here. The other sides are fun and delicious as well. I practically ate a cup of their tzatziki. Really disappointed with the food I got from here today. I really want to try and support local businesses more during this time but when it comes to reviewing it, at the end of the day, I have to be honest. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was thinking that my Chicken Biryani would be made to order. As soon as I ordered, I saw right away the product that I would be getting. The rice was set on a platter. There were two versions a spicy and non spicy. I decided to get half and half. The problem was that it was just sitting out for who knows how long. I saw that it looked lowkey crusty and stuck together it was and knew it wasn't fresh. This is also not proper food handling and is dangerous in general because it is not kept at the right temperature to prevent bacterial growth, but especially now with COVID. You can't just have food sitting out like that with no cover. Even though it is behind a glass guard, there is nothing protecting it from the employees. I can only assume their masks aren't on the entire time they work. Immediately after I paid and got to the car, I checked to see if it was warm at all and of course it wasn't. I touched it and it was ice cold. I originally intended to eat it right away for lunch, but in order to eat it I had to drive home and blast it in the microwave. Hoping there wasn't any bugs, bacteria, or anything else, I decided to just eat it. It was $7.99 and the prices keep going up so the menu pictures on Yelp aren't updated. There was barely any chicken... the chicken that was in the dish were shriveled up and dry. I didn't ask for chicken jerky. Come on... with a meat counter/market at your disposable, I expected it to be fresh. The flavor and spices of the rice in general weren't bad. But overall, the dish was clearly not fresh. I imagine it would be really good if it was made to order but it wasn't. This pandemic is not an excuse to be lazy and potentially put customers at risk for the virus or food poisoning with dangerous food handling practices. It's not like I got this for free, I had to pay for it. Originally hoped to write a positive review but the quality leaves me to believe that they have given up and don't care anymore. read more

What a hidden gem! We actually got quite lucky because my sister often stops by the animal hospital next door for her guinea pigs and each time she visits, the market's pictures of the lamb catches her attention. Each time she would tell my dad "we will try this place one day." Turns out today was the day! Out of hunger and curiosity, we walked in and was greeted immediately. Everyone is super friendly and the food was amazing! The meat truly melts in your mouth and we were fighting over the last of the bits and pieces because of how tasty everything was. The size is actually pretty huge and if I was eating one meal by myself, I'd surely have leftovers. But after today, I learned that I'd rather not share such a scrumptious meal after all. I preordered a day before for 2 chickies and the man who picked up the phone was friendly, even though they were close to being at capacity. So patient, thorough and slightly salesy, which I did not mind. I respect the hustle. Picked up the chickens day of Thanksgiving between 3-4PM window as he promised. It was super hot, juicy and deliciousssss. My family agreed - it was a hit and the garlic sauce was also a hit. Yeah, baby don't forget to ask for that garlic sauce. The grocery market itself is small but stocked with lots of drink options in the back, many imported options. The man who gave me the food was welcoming, friendly, and funny. I like when hummus has no added oil on the top because its lighter and the hummus is already very filling itself. Only thing is that the hummus tasted like rose water a little bit, i assumed whoever was making it didn't intend to do that. Overall this is a hidden gem. The man behind the food counter was extremely rude. He asked me what I wanted to order and then proceeded to tell me he could not hear me. When I repeated my order back to him he snapped back that he understood. Later when I tried to reconfirm my order, he told me "I already know that!" in a very rude and aggressive manner. When I got home, I opened my order, and he messed up my sides. I ordered cucumber salad and turnips and he gave me two cucumber salads. The food itself was unpalatable. Maybe I've been spoiled by very good Mediterranean food but the chicken shawarma had the consistency of birria and was truly disgusting. The rice was soggy and unappetizing. The hummus is definitely homemade as it's chunkier than most, but we loved it! The tzatziki is pretty good, not too acidic. The cucumber salad was quite refreshing. But the best part was the DELICIOUS garlic sauce! The best garlic sauce I've ever had from a Mediterannean place. For the proteins, the chicken was absolutely delicious, but the beef was a bit salty and dry. I also wanted falafel, but they sold out already. The guy serving us was super engaging and funny. I got the lamb shank plate and my friend got the rotisserie chicken plate! They were both large portions and quite delicious. I wanted to try the hummus but they were out so I got the grape leaves and spicy cucumber salad. My friend got regular cucumber salad and yogurt sauce for his sides. The rotisserie plate comes with pita but mine doesn't, however he gave me one anyway! He also tossed in an extra grape leaf and garlic sauce. The food was great and the guy serving us was very friendly! It's also super cheap, I definitely can't find a lamb shank plate for 8 dollars anywhere else! The basmati rice is soft and has a plethora of spices going on in there as well. The Chicken Shawarma is superb. The chopped up chicken pieces are very tender and juicy with subtle spices. The chicken and rice portion are both plentiful. This is served on top of rice with vermicelli noodles which is cooked perfectly. The Cucumber Salad is refreshing as it helps cool down the spices. The Garlic Sauce is creamy and zesty and the Tzatziki is quite tart. They also serve Arabic Bread when you order a combo plate. The bread is soft and fluffy. Service seems to be fantastic when the chef is working. She is friendly, helpful in explaining items on the menu, and gives recommendations when you have no idea what you want to order. Service isn't that great when it's someone else working behind the food counter. I get the half-hearted, unhelpful, and unresponsive server. That server can pass as the Queen of Blank Stares. However, all of the cashiers I've encountered have been friendly so at least that's good. The Chicken Biryani and Chicken Shawarma are excellent plates. I came here on a day where my face was melting off because it was hot as hell and the market was mildly air conditioned. Makes for rather questionable food choices seeing that the food was sitting out. But whatever. In any case, nothing could keep me away from ordering a plate of their chicken shawarma. A generous portion of chicken was heaped over biryani (mixed rice) and I was given the choice of 2 sides - tabouli and some hummus + garlic sauce for the chicken. The guy threw in some pita bread. All of this for $7.89 - tax included. I was apprehensive about my whole lunch get up until I took a bite of the chicken and rice. The chicken was surprisingly flavorful and well seasoned. Despite sitting out in the hot plate, the chicken wasn't at all dry. I also really enjoyed the biryani. I got baklava expecting it to be really good due to the high rated reviews but it was nothing like expected. Not sure if it was due to improper storage in the market because I tried it as soon as I got home and it tasted almost acidic. Not like the sweet baklava I'm used to. I was very disappointed. Hopefully the rest of the boxes aren't like that. I did check the expiration date for those wondering and it does in fact say April 10 2023 so it should have been good. read more
