Displayed in a shiny cold case that is expertly manned by a friendly, informative staff, there is every cut of meat...they even have quail if you ask! I always appreciate the staff on the counter, they are very open for questions and explain the different qualities and cuts of meats. They were well-stocked for the holiday, with a great variety of choice. Their city hot dogs are some of my favorites to snag. Awesome selection of Brotz and different hamburgers made ready to go for you. You can also find yourself snagging a sandwich there from their deli counter. Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time! I've saved this place for a while but finally had the opportunity to stop by. It's not only a butchery, but also a shop with high quality sauce, spice and everything nice. I placed an order for two sandwiches- the smoked brisket (hot on wheat- 10/10) and the turkey bacon lettuce guac sandwich (hot on ciabatta- 10/10). The brisket (as expected) was heavier than the turkey, but still amazing with the melted smoked gouda. I loved that the brisket was not too salty. While I am not usually a turkey fan, the gentleman suggested that it was one of his favorite as a lighter option. To both my husband's and my surprise- we really enjoyed it! The sandwiches are pricier than other places, but boy, did they taste delicious! Since everything is made fresh to order, we walked around the store and found some other cool things to buy- a rich ramen broth from Japan, sardines from Spain, and white shoyu sauce from Japan. If you're looking for some unique gifts for a foodie friend- this is your place! They, of course, also sell fish/meat/sausages- but we didn't have that in mind this time. The Butchery is a must-stop destination if you're looking for great quality meats and more. After passing by The Butchery multiple times while in the area, my husband and I finally made it a point to stop in. The space is impressive offering a nice selection of meats and cheeses, as well as unique spices, sauces, condiments, and cooking tools to complement one's meat preparation. Although functioning as a butchery, customers can also do some light shopping of the items I just noted, as well as order some sandwiches to go. We ended up placing an order for two sandwiches, and we were pleased with satisfied tummies after devouring them. The Butchery is located in a large shopping center with several other eateries. It's appropriately located adjacent to a grocery store so one could hop over to them to pick up some good quality meat after shopping. As mentioned, my husband and I stopped in to take a look around and ended up ordering two sandwiches for lunch to go. They have several delicious speciality sandwiches you can choose from in the back left side of the store. Details of each sandwich can be found hanging on a neatly, handwritten sign right above the area you place your sandwich orders. At the time we came in, they were super busy, but we were promptly greeted to place our order. It did take a little while to get our sandwiches, but it was no problem since it gave us time to explore the shop in more detail. We ended up finding some pretty unique seasonings and sauces to purchase and try out at home. When we finally unwrapped our sandwiches, they were perfect. We ordered a Classic Italian Sandwich and a Pastrami Sandwich (and swapped halves). Both were obviously made with care (no sloppy assembly), had the perfect amount of filling, and were served nice and warm at the perfect temperature. The Italian had a great selection of Italian meats that complemented each other well and the Pastrami (my favorite out of the two) was like heaven. The grilled onions on the Pastrami Sandwich were like heaven. I would highly recommend. Both sandwiches were soft, in a good way, not dry, and very easy to eat/chew through. We are new fans to The Butchery. We will definitely return to try out a few more sandwiches and do our future meat shopping when in the area. read more

My cousin, her husband, and I really wanted sandwiches for lunch and they mentioned this place since they always pass by it when they're in this plaza. Parking was easy since it's part of a huge and very nice plaza. We went in and I wouldn't say it was packed, but there were a good 5-6 people in front of us so it took about 15 minutes for us to place our order, which was fine because we got to roam around their little store and saw so many great things and sauces that we definitely have to go back and try! We ordered the classic italian and the house, add grilled onion, mayo and mustard on the side - both on ciabatta but I would recommend getting it on a white roll. We all shared those 2 sandwiches and they were done about 10 minutes later. Ciabatta was a little too tough for us, but the sandwiches itself were soo good. I was a fan of the italian which I was pretty surprised about, but the pesto and all the deli meats included really took it over the top. Roast beef on the house was good but I didn't love - I definitely had to put the mustard on it which made it more enjoyable. I ordered their charcuterie plate meant to serve a party of 30 and it was more than enough at $120! Next time I'll provide my own board but their covered tray was very convenient when picking up. Love that their staff is patient and has you sample their variety of meats and cheeses. I recommend adding the truffle salt marcona almonds. Plenty of parking in the plaza and is conveniently next to Mother's Market. This place is the HEST. We've ordered whole briskets for smoking and it was some of the best I've had. At Thanksgiving time we pre-order our turkey through them and it's such high quality meat. I love their goats milk (or cheese) sausage (trust me get it and thank me later). Their cheese and charcuterie selection is divine and their sandwiches are what dreams are made of (brisket (warm) and Italian (cold) are my favs). The market area is filled with wonderful treasures. We've been to this location at least a dozen times in the 3 years we've lived in the area. The food is always high quality. BUT, as others mentioned, the staff is questionable. It's strange that the other 2 Butchery locations don't have the same issues. We're often treated as though we're bothering the staff. Usually no acknowledgement of our presence when there is a line. Still open during these crazy times! We've been visiting The Butchery since pre-COVID. Fresh meats, I normally come here to spoil someone in my family (it's either the hubby or the pup). Favorites are the pork chops, any of the steak cuts, and any of the burger patties. They also have cheeses and deli meats from Boar's Head to smaller producers, like Cowgirl Creamery. You can ask them for their opinions, as they know how to pair with a good wine or dinners! Other than the fresh meats and cheeses, you have to pass the aisles of goods to get to the cashier area. This includes pickles, honey, pastas, pasta sauce, small appetizers (e.g., seasoned mushrooms, brussel sprouts, pates), wines, olive oils, crackers, chocolate, chips... basically, you can get a really, really, really good and happy meal by just shopping at The Butchery. It might be a bit hefty of a price in the end, but it's nice to splurge from time to time. Service has been good. I know butchering takes some skill and patience, and I always appreciate the folks behind the counter helping me out. They might be able to do custom cuts if you ask ahead of time. Much like the butchery in Costa Mesa, the butchery in Brea is no different. They have friendly and helpful staff, great selection of meats, cheeses, etc...and the ability to order custom food. Kinda like having an old school local butcher. I know they're a chain, but they do things the right way. Only place I know around SoCal where u can order Iberico pork tenderloin, and if u haven't had it, save up for a while, and get it!! It is worth 100 a lb. A regular stop for me on my way from work. The meat selection and quality is second to none. I do not go to grocery stores anymore and Costco only sells in bulk. I don't need that much meat unless I'm entertaining at home. They're marinaded meats are my favorite. Excellent flavor. The cheese selection is great as well. This is a butchery and small market of very high quality. I'd personally recommend the dry aged steaks! Normally, my husband comes here to order the meat but since I was in the neighborhood,  I stopped by, called my husband, and put him on speaker. This led to a very easy checkout process. The meat is pricey compared to what you'd find at the grocery store but the quality (and taste) is unparalleled. Plus, if you compare the cost to a steak at a fancy restaurant, it's a steal!
