Food was great, service was not. Only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five. I got a whiskey highball that was disappointing. The food was super good. Don't recommend stopping by if you're in a rush, but it's good for when you have a lot of time to sit down for dinner.

This place has amazing food! I ordered the beef noodle and chicken wings and they were great! They had a DJ and they were playing mahjong! Even though they were busy the service was great! I will absolutely be returning !!!

This is my second visit. I was not impressed by the flavor during my first visit, so decided to give it another try because the reviews here rave about the ramen. It was the same experience. The ramen lacks flavor, which was very surprising to me due to the reviews, and there are not condiments readily available. The ramen was very bland. The egg is also very runny (not a jammy egg like most ramen spots). The atmosphere is such a nice atmosphere, it's a chill place. We tried 3 different ramens and they all really lacked flavor. The service is good, we sat at the bar first times. There are not a lot of ramen options on the menu.

I got the duck ramen that was on a separate menu. It was really good. At one point I must have eaten ALL the spice that was in the dish. Probably should have mixed it up a little. At lunch in a Saturday it wasn't very busy. We were sat right away. The food came out quick and hot. The Asian wings were pretty good also.

Beef ramen - has 2 on the menu but wasn't spicy.

We have been to ramen and Asian fusion places all over the US and in other countries. Living in the DMV we are surrounded by them. I do not understand the hype at Alkaline. The waitress was great! She was one of the best parts of the experience. The Brussels Sprouts appetizer was the other. They were full of flavor. Definitely order these. The wantons- meh The ramen ... ummmm where was the flavor?? The broth is supposed to be the best part. We have never had to add fish sauce, soy sauce, hot sauce, salt or anything else to a delicious bowl of ramen or pho. This was the first time we have ever asked for soy sauce in an effort to add some taste to the soup. Even the pork on the garlic ramen had 0 flavor. It tasted like pork battered in non seasoned panko crumbs. We were dipping it in soy sauce and using the left over sauce from the Brussels Sprouts in an effort to give it some taste. What's with the egg? My son hates the eggs so I told him I would eat his. It was barely cooked. When he tried to pick it up it opened and gushed everywhere. That was a first. All of the eggs were like that. We had 4 bowls of ramen. I'm not even sure if we ate 1/2 of the bowls. The only reason we forced ourselves to eat it was because we had a 3 hour drive home. Our bill was just under $100 and not worth it at all. This was a huge disappointment. Maybe we went on an off day. Out of all the places we ate at, on our short trip, this was the only place all of us said we'd never go back to. 2 stars for the Brussels and the waitress. After reading reviews it seems I am not alone in my assessment. One reviewer said this is a Filipino owned establishment. How do they not know what Patis is?? When I asked the other waitress she said she didn't know what that was. Patis is a staple in Filipino cuisine.

My cousin and I decided to dine in at Alkaline on Saturday night since we heard nothing but great things about their food. We arrived around 7pm and were seated right away. The restaurant was a bit smaller than expected but the dim lighting and the great music definitely created a vibe that we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for our server to greet us, but it gave us time to thoroughly look over the menu. Once our server finally arrived, we ordered everything at once and decided on the Fried Brussels Sprouts, Asian Sticky Wings and the Lumpia for apps. I then ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen while my cousin chose the Spicy Red Curry Ramen. The appetizers were served pretty quickly and we had to try the Asian Sticky Wings first, since they're all the rave. I liked them but I've had better. They could've added a bit more flavor to the sauce but the crunchy texture was perfect. The Fried Brussels Sprouts were pretty good and were cooked very well! The Lumpia was amazing though!!! They tasted very homemade and were packed with flavor. The Tonkotsu Ramen was good but it would've been better if I spiced it up a bit. My cousin enjoyed her Spicy Red Curry Ramen. She mentioned it being pretty spicy but wasn't unbearable. Before we left, we tried the Miso Butter Cake which included chocolate chips, miso caramel and candied pecans. The miso caramel gave the cake a sweet & salty taste which balanced everything out so well! It was delicious! Overall, I would definitely return again. The cocktails were amazing and the food was pretty decent, I just hope the service is a bit better next time.

I've been coming here for years now but this is the first time I've left a review. We came in about a hour before they closed and were quickly seated. The inside is such a vibe - neon lights, cool artwork, anime playing in the front, it's just a really cool place. For the food, we ordered the fried Brussels sprouts, 3X Garlic tonkotsu, and the big smokehouse ramen. Brussels sprouts were really good - perfectly crispy and flavourful. The 3x garlic tonkotsu is probably my favourite ramen of all time. You get a cripsy pork cutlet on top with a creamy broth with tons of flavour. The noodles were cooked perfectly. We missed out on the miso butter cake but if you're there, def get it!!!

Went in the other night on a double date night for the first time. They had been quite busy and were clearly a little short staffed but that did not interfere with our experience at all. We did have a little on the longer side wait to be seated, but you could see that everyone was busting their ass to do their jobs. The bar was pretty full, otherwise we would have waited there. Once we were seated we ordered drinks and apps, and despite the amount of people they came out in a pretty timely manner. We ordered the wontons, green bean salad, Brussels sprouts, and pork belly. Everything was amazing and I could have ordered 4 more orders of wontons. For our meals we had fried rice and ramen. Everything I tasted was exceptional. We thought that since we had been told they were slammed that it may have affected the meal, but it was all delicious, and fresh. Our waitress was on her first day back from an injury (we pried), and did amazing! Right back into the groove and made sure we didn't go without anything we needed. She was fun, joked around with us, and made the entire night better. We hope we gave her a little fun in return. Overall, we'll be heading back there again soon to try more of the menu!

So been here several times and I have to say the service is always on point. Servers are nice and very attentive. The ramen is good. Not my all time favorite but definitely worth a try. The place can be a little noisy when it's full but you can generally still hold a conversation. I have no doubt that we will be back.

The red curry ramen was very flavorful and wasn't salty. The warning on the menu with 3 peppers was right though because it was it was pretty spicy. If you are a spice fiend, I highly recommend this to you. The brussel sprouts were really good, but I don't know why it was only given on half of the plate. It was quite a bummer with that. They share a parking lot with other restaurants and stores.

There's now a security table/desk where the DJ booth used to be; definitely wasted space where more tables and chairs could've been added instead. Had to stand for about 10 mins before some people finally left then we had to like "hurry" to get the seats before anyone else got them. We needed an extra chair at our table and went up to the security to ask if he knew where anymore could be or if we could borrow the one that was behind his table since he seemed to only be standing all night, but he responded kind of harsh with a stern "NO"....def unnecessary. Even though he was rude, the bartenders were the opposite, making funny light conversation and friendly while we ordered and waited for our drinks. The atmosphere was a nice, chill, and intimate vibe, with red/orange lighting. To drink: I tried the Saturn (8/10) it was pretty good, I liked the flavor, but there really didn't seem to be much alcohol in it fr. To eat: we ordered a Margherita Pizza and added Pepperoni (10/10) it was fresh, flavorful, and all around really good. There were hints of spice in the sauce that really added to the flavors. Their pizza seems to be a popular menu item as I seen pizza boxes on almost every table throughout the night. Def will be back again, but next time, we're going to get there early, so we can have a table for the night. Looked like once people secured themselves a table in here, they held it all night long and never moved / left till closing. My overall rate of experience : 7.5/10

After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. For our mains, my friend went with the Chicken Tinga bowl. It's packed with rice, black beans, tender chicken tinga, onion, cilantro, queso fresco, cabbage, plus a blend of roja and blanca salsas. He seemed to enjoy it, and loved how the chicken was flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, and all the toppings kept every bite interesting without overpowering the rest of the bowl. I went with the Chimichurri Bowl special, and it was equally fantastic. The chimichurri sauce was herby and bright. Perfect on top of the rice and protein. Friendly, attentive service without being overbearing is always appreciated, and she struck that balance perfectly. My wife ordered the Red Curry Bowl with blackened chicken, baby bok choy, radishes, carrots, green onions, cilantro, and rice noodles in a rich red curry coconut broth. This dish was both aesthetically pleasing and delicious. The vegetables were fresh, the broth was flavorful without being overpowering, and the generous portion made for a hearty meal. In fact, there was simply too much to finish, which is rarely something to complain about. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose The Richmond, a fried chicken sandwich topped with pimento cheese, bacon, jalapeños, Mike's Hot Honey, spicy aioli, lettuce, and tomato on a potato bun, served with fresh-cut fries. The chicken itself was excellent, and the fries were crispy, fresh, and plentiful. Where the sandwich lost me was in its identity. There was so much happening between the pimento cheese, spicy aioli, bacon, jalapeños, and hot honey that each ingredient seemed to compete with the others rather than complement them. Somewhere along the way, it crossed the Rubicon from a Nashville hot chicken sandwich into something entirely different. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It simply wasn't for me. I finished it, and I certainly didn't dislike it, but I wouldn't order it again. Sometimes restraint is the better part of culinary creativity, and I think this sandwich would benefit from letting one or two of its ingredients take center stage instead of asking them all to share the spotlight. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. Good food, generous portions, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make Craft on Colley a place we'll happily return to. It was really cool watching the process in real time. The Railyard at Lamberts Point has plenty of space to spread out, making it a great spot to bring the family and enjoy a beautiful day. Just around the corner from Fr8 House, you'll find a brewery, golf simulator, and other local shops to explore. Take some time to wander this unique industrial district on your next day off!

It's incredibly spacious with high ceilings, tons of natural light, and lots of beautiful details everywhere you look. The front patio is perfect for people watching or just enjoying some fresh air, with lots of space between tables (no awkward eavesdropping here). Inside, the vibe is super chill. There were quite a few people working on laptops, but it didn't feel stuffy or too quiet ... just a comfortable, low-key buzz that makes you want to stay a while. I started off with an iced americano topped with strawberry cold foam. The foam itself was a little thicker than I expected (it was more "whipped cream" than "cold foam"), but honestly, it was delicious. I'd totally order it again. The flavor combination is chef's kiss. A little sweet, a little tangy, and it adds something fun to a classic drink. For food, I went all in on the Box Car Sandwich. If you love grilled cheese, you HAVE to try this. Oozy pepperjack and cheddar, crispy bacon, tomato, avocado, all sandwiched between slices of perfect sourdough. And the special sauce on the side? I could have eaten it with a spoon. I have no idea what's in it, but I want a bottle to take home. I can't wait to come back here and give their espresso martini a try, and their pepperoni swirl pastry looked 10/10.

However, I called 508 locals to see if they had any availability. The hostess told us to come on through. When I pulled up it wasn't too busy. They were welcoming and sat us right away. We had an awesome waiter. Judging from his accent, he was from Ireland. He was great. Very enthusiastic and attentive. I was pretty hungry. I ordered the crab cakes (great sauce and aioli), Brussels (hot honey with goat cheese and cranberries), junglebird drink (delicious, it wasn't overly sweet), and ribeye. All delicious. I was not disappointed. It was such a chill place. It wasn't overly loud. It was clean. I recommend.

Bartender was incredibly attentive for having a full bar. We each had 2 different cocktails and both were distinctive and excellently crafted. We had shared a couple of the small plates and enjoyed them both. We enjoyed the place so much that we decided to come back with a group of 14 for All Lovers Eve. Second time: Made the reservation with ease. If you've ever made a group reservation you know how complicated some places make it. This was a large group and they were short handed. This lead to a slower service which actually worked out well for our group. We didn't mind the gaps. They put us in their back room (hint - GREAT for groups) there was a little confusion with the order to include an extra dish we didn't order. We still ate it and paid for it though. The staff was great with our large and rather disruptive group. The food was all excellent (local oysters on the half shell and the apple desert were my highlights). Multiple cocktails that were all wonderful. My only real negative was that there was a $50 "loyalty club " charge that was never mentioned and I didn't even notice on the $1200.00 bill. This is, I believe, some sort of credit card fee. Both times were good. Both times staff were wonderful. Both times we were comfortable. Give the place a try. I don't think you will regret it.

It's the kind of establishment that understands both execution and consistency--two qualities that are increasingly rare and always appreciated. The shrimp and grits remains a signature highlight. The Creole sauce offers a restrained heat, balanced by a layered depth of flavor that speaks to careful preparation rather than excess. The shrimp are properly cooked, retaining a delicate snap, while the stone-ground grits provide a well-seasoned, creamy foundation. Each component is thoughtfully prepared, and together they form a cohesive dish that feels both composed and satisfying--an authentic nod to Cajun tradition without unnecessary embellishment. Gershwin's stands as a reliable fixture in the downtown dining scene. For those seeking a refined take on Southern and New Orleans classics, it is well worth the visit--and a strong example of the quality found within Norfolk's local restaurant community.

If this restaurant was in an area that was even moderately competitive they would have been put out of business. The bar seems adequate but it was almost like they stopped serving food and forgot to tell anyone. I swear I'm not making this up, this actually happened: 1) it took over 2.5 hours for the entrees to come out. One came out so early that by the time the second set came out they were already done. 2) The only appetizer that was ordered that actually came out, arrived after the entree was done. 3) One person's order had to be changed 5x because the waiter kept coming back to say they're out. When his pork chop finally arrived, it was undercooked and not eatable. 4) Nothing was offered in any way as a comp, nor any real apology If you go, be wary. There is no way they were this thoroughly incompetent in every single aspect of the food services industry without practice.
