One chicken teriyaki skewer with all this rice for $14 is crazy. I should have checked my food before I left the description clearly states skewers with and (s)

It was my first time going to The Boardwok Restaurant its been here for years, my brother has gone once and I just had the time to come over here this time. The inside is nice cozy and tons of tables. They have a bar as well they do things different here with their food since the owner i guess like to fish is what I read and so fresh fish and stuff like that. The food I got was hot and sour soup. It is different the other chinese restaurants that I go to usually never put green beans in it but it is spicy and sour which is pretty good. I also got the combo stir fry lo mein with pork, chicken and shrimp. Although the shrimp maybe fresh it has a taste that isn't fresh. The noodles were great although i don't like the way they package my food. I don't like soggy spring rolls when you put it in the lo mein. Just put it in where you put the dry things in a separate bag like you did for the soup The workers at the bar waitresses are nice and friendly. I only saw and elderly men sitting an eating the booth when I walked in. I think their meal was pretty quick since i walked in at 1130am when it was just opened. the bill came to 31.00 something so charged to debit card no tip since it was take out, but when i waked up at 7am this morning there was an updated charged so total with tip they added onto was 36.20...I would use my cash next time when I come back. If i wanted to add tip I would have, but I didn't want to break up my 20. I will come back next time to try the fried rice

OKAY I am hesitant writing a review on The Boardwok Restaurant. It is one of my FAVORITES and I am afraid if people find out how great they are. It will get to busy and then I will be super sad if I cannot easily walk in a get a table. It is such a wonderful small restaurant. Even the bathrooms are cute. The owner is super awesome. He loves to fish and loves FRESH!!!!! Oh baby so many favorites when the food is fresh. The green beans, the asparagus, the broccoli, I could go on and on. OK so when you walk in the staff are ALWAYS awesome. You can ask what is in season or fresh. They have a chalk board that has the specials. If you follow them on Facebook they will let you know when the soft shell crabs are in. And you can also see when the other wonderful fresh bean, asparagus and all that come in. We have ordered everything and have LOVED everything on the menu. My advice if it is your first time. Order Kev's Favorite Lo Mein. And if you go when they serve the She Crab SOUP. It is THE BEST in the entire area.

Our first visit to the Boardwok Restaurant was more than a year ago. The restaurant was dark and there were no customers. We were new to the area and very disappointed in our meals. A year later, a friend invited us and to our surprise it was a complete turnaround. The restaurant was bright and open, full of happy customers. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing: big portions, fresh ingredients with attention to the little things like using low sodium soy sauce as requested. My wife ordered pork lo mein with a side of chicken teriyaki. The dish came with an abundance of perfectly seasoned pork. The noodles and sauce were not like the usual greasy stuff you get in most Chinese restaurants; The sauce was light and very tasty. The chicken teriyaki side was tender with a nice sweetness and was a perfect compliment to the sauce of the lo mein. I ordered Kev's stir-fried rice noodles with pork and shrimp. The portion was on the large side and again the sauce was light and very tasty. Needless to say, we were both very impressed and the friendly service provided by both waitresses added to the pleasant experience. We will be back ... and soon!

Our family was starving at this point we spent the day at the pool and wanted to try a new local spot. felt it would be a thing if we spoke up at all about our experience with the food as everyone knew each other that was coming and going . We regret not just leaving as soon as we sat down. Our food came out incorrect, one of the cooks had gotten hurt and we heard a scream from the back super uncomfortable situation and experience. All the fans were on entire family was freezing. We grabbed the beef and broccoli the pot stickers(only thing that was good) , the sesame beef, teriyaki chicken (taste like bad barbecue sauce over decent chicken) kids got the BLT with slaw (absolutely disgusting), the veggie fried rice with spring roll (absolutely disgusting). We came here because of the reviews on yelp. Seems like most are their friends and biased on how it actually taste save your money and go elsewhere. We rarely go out as a family of 5 as it's so expensive so this was extremely disappointing.

Pork Lo Mein and General Tso Chicken

Delicious!! The lo-mein is the best I have had in the area in the 7 years I have lived here. I tried my son's General Tso Chicken and then I wanted to eat his plate, too! It's a super casual atmosphere and the staff is great. I'll be back there for sure!

On a whim, my family and I ordered for pickup through Yelp (which then uses grub hub) from this restaurant. Our family friend swore by this place and the food. Ordering on Yelp was easy enough- especially since when I tried the old school traditional phone order- which kept giving me a busy signal. I placed the order quickly online (Yelp- the restaurant doesn't offer online ordering) and was given an estimate of how long until the food was ready for pick up. The order was completed and ready within 35 minutes. The pick up was the kicker. The lady at the register looked at me as if she had no clue what I was talking about when I said I was there to pick up an online order. Another server walked by and said "oh we don't do Yelp. But we have a grub hub order" and she pointed to a shelf with bags on it. I assumed that it was going to be brought to me, I assumed wrong. The food was so/so. My order was missing 1/2 of the veggie fried rice (I had an order of $125 worth of food). Everything was over salted. The spring rolls were soggy. All in all- I will stick with Panda Express.

Flavors of the seafood stir fry were there, just one critique; I would like the veggies in smaller pieces, but service was excellent

I walked in, and the entire room seemed to stop. People turned and stared. I smiled at a few of them, hoping to break the tension, but they just kept staring. I sat down at the bar and waited quietly -- five, maybe ten minutes. I had no problem being patient as I understand bartenders can get busy. But while I sat there, I watched her serve others, chat with regulars, and even tell one that she'd just given him some fresh drinks. She continued cleaning her bar but never once acknowledged me. Not even a "Hi" or "I'll be right with you." Then she poured herself a Red Bull into her personal cup, walked right past me, and struck up a friendly conversation with the man next to me -- loud and casual -- asking if he was "golfing this weekend." That made it clear: she wasn't going to serve me. As a BLACK veteran, that moment hit hard. This bar, with all its patriotic décor, made it clear that their version of "supporting the troops" doesn't include people like me. I didn't serve my country to protect ignorance or racism -- especially not from those who wrap themselves in the flag while looking down on others. This place can take their support and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

We ordered the truffle fries (my husband loved them) but I thought they needed a little more truffle. I told the waiter what drink I liked and he customized one for me. It was really good I had two! P.S: The server and host were attentive and nice, so the low rating is entirely for the food. My bf and I ordered a truffle fries to share, I ordered the Braveheart Ribeye with broccolini and risotto(forgot what flavor but it was cooked in a cream sauce), and my bf ordered the Ribeye Lasagna. The truffle fries: the fries tasted fresh but they looked like the b-dub fries. Comes with ketchup, which I was hoping for some sort of aioli for an upscale chophouse. The Braveheart Ribeye: The temperature was what I asked for(medium rare), but the char is straight up crispy brunt and bitter as if I'm eating charcoal pieces. I also ordered a demi glaze on the side, and that tasted and looked like some McCormick sauce. No demi-glaze flavor and the color is transparent like those powdered gravy packets. The broccolini was bitter. They were tucked under the steak so maybe the brunt from the steak went onto the broccolini... The risotto was creamy but they were undercooked cuz they were still hard. My bf said his Ribeye Lasagna just tasted like a normal lasagna like he couldn't tell the difference of normal beef and the "ribeye meat" that they used, but it was a big size and the sauce was pretty good so he thinks it's worth the money. The creme brulee... I have this tradition with my bf which we will order a creme brulee(if the restaurant provides) during our first visit. I'm no Michelin creme brulee reviewer, but I'd say I tried and made enough creme brulee to identify what a standard and good creme brulee is, and unfortunately this just ain't one. The flame on top is a cool gimmick but it melts the supposedly crispy top to a little too soft (we waited for about 5 mins after the flame was gone before eating it). The texture of the creme was NOT creme brulee but more like flan, when the creme should've been more of a custard/solid but creamy like texture. We were told their creme brulee has a little orangey-taste to it, but the orangey taste just totally covers the flavor of creme brulee. All we could taste was a bitter orange flan. Although my bf likes his lasagna, we both agreed that for this price we would've expected better tasting food. I have no doubt that the ingredients they used were high quality, but this is just not gonna go nowhere when you don't have the right chef to cook them.

We had to stop ourselves from just sucking it down. The burger is where I had the issue. It was a little on the dry side.... Too well done despite asking for medium. It also wasn't seasoned well. The only flavor rally came from the bbq sauce and onion straws. The truffle fries were good though. The menu said they won't best burger of Virginia Beach, and that was made me get a burger.
