Sakura is a nice Japanese restaurant by shore Drive. Very Japanese vibes. They even have like a menu board sign much like in Japan. The rules are actually so good! Everything was flavorful and they do not skim on the fish. I would have given this a five stars if not for the service. The waitress kept forgetting our orders, they were pronouncing the roles incorrectly like they do not know what the rules are, and my friend was going to give the waitresses a cash tip versus credit card, but the waitress didn't realize that. I'm relatively new to sushi but since I've tried it, I'm addicted to this place. I live in Chesapeake & will drive all the way to shore dr to this place to get my fix. I have been exploring other sushi places near me and have yet to find another spot I love as much as this one. My favorite is the spicy girl roll. Their cucumber salad seems to be the best too compared to others. The service has always been good, nothing fancy but definitely attentive. Excellent fried rice and super clean/friendly staff. Also pricing for portion and quality was excellent.

Lunch special was fantastic! Great portions for the price point. Seafood tasted fresh and we never felt rushed with service. The inside is large and can accommodate big parties. It feels like your typical sushi spot. Not upscale enough to make you feel like you need to dress up, but not low scale enough to question the quality of the sushi. Stopped in for dinner at Sakura and was quickly seated at a table near the window with a great view. The restaurant was welcoming, well decorated and had a great ambiance. The server welcomed me with a smile and a water and my appetizer came out in no time at all! I ordered a cucumber salad && edamame - both were delicious. For my main course I opted for two rolls- volcano and shrimp tempura. They were prepared perfectly. I highly suggest stopping in for sushi- they have a wide variety of rolls and sashimi. Used to like lunch specials here. Quality has gone down. The last time I visited the spicy tuna roll had so much tempura in it that it was dry and you couldn't taste tuna at all. This time I got a beef teriyaki combo and they put it in a styrofoam box so the sauce just spilled out all over everything... why wouldn't you either put the sauce in a liquid container or put the beef in a soup container so you don't spill sauce everywhere? I mean they did put a bag around it but it didn't matter as the bag was open and it still spilled everywhere. I liked the various types of seating they have and I believe hibachi is offered here as well. We sat down to be greeted with complimentary sushi rolls and warm towels to wipe our hands, which I absolutely loved! Only thing about the sushi rolls is I wish she told us what it was + having enough for everyone at the table. There's a lot on the menu, so choose wisely! I ordered my regular sushi order of a spicy girl + shrimp roll which were amazing. So good! I was kind of confused about the price of the rolls though. There's a mini menu on the table and one they hand to you, but I saw about 3 different prices for the spicy girl. I waited until I got my check to see the price & I'm glad it was for a lower option. Our waitress was pretty good about checking in on us. After the meal you get an orange for palette cleansing! I've ordered the same meal carry out and dine in, and both were of equal quality! My order was the hibachi steak dinner. It comes with fried or white rice, salad with ginger dressing, and miso soup. Hibachi steak isn't listed on their dine in menu, but you can ask for it. I also tried the flavored cold sake and they only had the apple flavor. It tasted just like green apple Jolly Ranchers. The hibachi steak is juicy and the fried rice is is perfectly glossy with peas, onions, and carrots, and makes for even great leftovers. Dare I say the leftover fried rice is even better heated up the next day. When I called in, the wait for pickup was only 10 min. When I dined in, I was served immediately on a Friday night. We came to visit a friend and she's highly recommended this restaurant. We have never heard of an AYCE sushi restaurant (besides Sushi-On, which is a buffet) and were all excited to try it. And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. The staff are super polite and kind, the side dishes we ordered came out nice and hot, and the sushi rolls themselves were beautifully done. The quality of their fish is ‍ my boyfriend is super picky about white tuna and was pleasantly surprised by how soft and buttery theirs was. The restaurant was also very clean and well kept, and the decorations are beautiful and intriguing. I love the little pergola they have in the corner and love the cute tree lamps over the bar area. This will be the last time I go here.. I ordered sashmi at the Sushi bar. It took forever to get my Miso soup. The Sushi chefs almost beat out the soup from the server. No plates were taken away the whole time I was dining. I piled them up and left. I had to ask for my check and then it toke forever to get it back. The server was mopping and cleaning while I was there. So unprofessional. You would never see this at Mizuno down the way. Anyway she never gave me the orange cut dessert they give everyone...I tipped the chefs and stiffed the server but never will go back. If you're in a big group they bring the table complementary Fire Ninja rolls which are superb. Their fried rice is every popular and very good. Pretty good sushi! I always doordash my orders but I can tell you the food always comes fresh no matter what. I have not had this place forget one single item of my orders before, or the wrong order. The food was sooo delicious; although they received 4 out of 5 stars due to the waitress not being friendly. We were the only people dining there until we finished eating & the waitress seem to be bothered with assisting us. Many of the staff members & owner were sitting near the door when we were exiting; however not one of them said bye as we walked right beside them after we ate. This is the finest Japanese establishment in all of the 757. Im basic, so I live for Sakura's chicken fried rice and house salad with ginger dressing. I also want to give this restaurant extra accolade for putting up with my annoying personality. I called a total of 3 times over the course of one hour -- once to put in my order, the second time to put in Selly's request for an extra spicy crunchy tuna roll and finally to ask for extra soy sauce. Although I definitely got the sense that Sakura's employees were exasperated with me, they handled everything with grace and honor. 5 stars for Gryffindor. read more

The service left a bad taste in my mouth. We had two different waitresses and the first one was rude with poor table manner. It might've been the end of her shift because she did not seem to care at all. I got the volcano roll bento box for lunch and it was very well decorated. The sushi came out fresh and hot, the salad was crisp, and the siomai tasted like siomai haha. I went with my family and they all said everything was great EXCEPT my dad's chicken teriyaki. Worst chicken teriyaki I've ever had. That thing was super tough . The chicken tasted like rubber and we had to get it remade because it was far from edible. I don't think I'll be coming back.
