This is one of my must visits when back in the Hampton Roads area. I stopped in for a quick bite and was not disappointed. The edamame was simple, delicious, and just good. The avocado salad was good as usual but the presentation was not as elaborate. My roll was delicious and just the right serving. My taste buds want more but I know I would end up over eating. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stopped into YamaChen's Sushi yesterday with my youngest && it did not disappoint! When we walked in around noon we were greeted by a friendly waitress who immediately sat us at a booth. The atmosphere was welcoming && the restaurant was obviously clean and well maintained. We were provided menus and a sealed "pouch" containing a napkin, chopsticks and a toothpick- I loved the idea. We started with an Avocado Salad for an appetizer and the waitress provided us some complimentary edamame. The avocado salad was the perfect balance && we both really enjoyed it. For main courses I opted for two rolls - Hawaii Roll and Crazy Volcano roll. Both were new for me and both were bursting with flavor. Freshly prepared and perfectly presented. My daughter opted for the Chicken Ramen which again, knocked it out of the park on the presentation. It was huge! Filled with veggies, chicken, imitation crab, plenty of noodles and a hard boiled egg. The portion was easily two meals and absolutely delicious. We did not have room for dessert, but they do offer it. We were highly impressed with the fantastic customer service, the speed at which we received our food and the overall flavor and quality of the food. I will for sure be stopping by again and suggest you check it out!

When I walked in customers were at tables eating so it was quite busy it was ok I could wait I was not in a rush, waitress got my order for to go down I got the california roll and Philly roll lunch and I wanted it to go but I wanted raw but than its too hot outside to take raw fish home so i got the cooked fish instead. Waited for a bit very nice. Still delicious eating it at home. Will go back in a few weeks again.

First I'd like to thank the staff and chef for a wonderful lunch today. Walking into a slice of Japan in Va Beach as you pass through a beautiful wooden pergola with accents of fresh blooming cherry blossoms was a great way to start. The host was very friendly and we enjoyed our appetizer of crisp edamame and crunchy golden spring rolls. The steamed dumplings were perfectly made and the filling was well seasoned. Volcano Roll, Shrimp Tempura, and California Roll were the entree. Perfectly balanced and executed with passion! The unexpected treat at the end was a delicious and pleasant surprise, of cheesecake bites. I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone interested in freshly prepared sushi while in Virginia Beach. Thank you for the meal! RQ

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I was seated right away.....it wasn't busy. The waitress was nice but sadly only lunch specials Monday-Friday. She did bring me complimentary edamame. I ordered 2 rolls, The Iron Man and Spicy Tuna. I also ordered the gyoza because I had a free appetizer. Everything came out very quickly. I loved the sauce for my steamed Gyozas. My rolls came quickly and I loved the presentation with a fresh flower and even a small portion of seaweed salad. I didn't love the imitation crab on top. Even though I know it's imitation I would rather have it in a salad then huge chunks on top of my roll. I had to order more Wasabi because it was not very strong. I never had that clear your sinuses moment that you get from Wasabi. The waitress brought out a small complimentary cheesecake bite which was the perfect amount after a filling lunch. I would go back and recommend.

Amazing experience great food! Yum!!!!!! 100% A+ came here with family to eat. It was my wife bday trip to VA Beach. We stopped here to eat. Really really really good!!! Spicy tuna rolls were yummy!!!! Delicious. If we come back to VA beach, we will definitely stop here again!!!! :)

    Boat Combo #2

Came here for lunch today with two 11 year olds and we had the best time. We were seated right away and given some delightful complimentary edamame. We ordered the boat combo and it was as awesome as we hoped for! Beautiful presentation, fresh fish, well crafted rolls. 10/10 will come back again. We were playing uno while we waited for our food and some of the kids there joined us! They were fun to hang out with. Great atmosphere.

I am so confused and disappointed. I ordered a Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon lunch combo. I have never had the weird Mayo drizzle on rolls as straightforward as Spicy Tuna and Salmon IN MY LIFE. I have also never been so inclined to WIPE IT OFF with napkins. Also they were the least appetizing spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls I've had in awhile. I ordered around noon so I have no explanation for literally wondering if I even got the right thing. Stick with what ya know, right? To finish it off, I got the tiniest helping of wasabi and here's the kicker, there was Mayo drizzle ALL OVER my Kani Salad which was literally just a substantial pile of crabmeat. Perhaps I'm spoiled but WHAT IS WITH THE MAYO?!

one word: grateful. upon coming here a bit earlier, me and my boyfriend were immediately seated and tended to. water arrived shortly after we sat down as well as a bowl of edamame which was not asked for but definitely appreciated. our orders were taken very quickly, and I was impressed with how fast it was made and brought to us. I kid you not, we ate everything including the spring rolls they gave us ON THE HOUSE within an hour. it was that good. we were very pleased and I will definitely be back. if you are in the lynnhaven area this is THE sushi spot for you!

After having a disappointing meal over at D&Bs, I yelped the area and Yama come up, with great reviews I must add. Oh sushi, you never let me down. Stopped for take out only before hitting the road, but I'm impressed at how quickly it was made and for the complimentary pints of miso on the house. Thanks! If I lived in the area, I would have opted for delivery, 5% off your first order (mention you yelped the place and there could be a lil summin else in there for you too!) Take out order: Shrimp tempura roll. Amazing, 10/10 Alaskan roll. So good, 10/10 (FYI; 8 pieces per roll.) Will definitely come back to eat in. Inside is well lit, the staff are very friendly, there's great ambience, it's clean, presentable and authentic. See you soon, Yama!

The size and quality of the sashimi wasn't the best. The rolls were decent but I just think for the money I don't see the quality.

That being said, I ordered from Sushi Vice. I'm not hating it. Before I placed my order with DoorDash, I actually called the restaurant and requested that they include cups of soy sauce and chopsticks, etc., because I was staying in the hotel. I only did this because if you order off DoorDash's menu, you cannot include Notes to the restaurant. It's ridiculous. With all that being said, I could not believe it when my order arrived it was exactly as I requested. It's not really a sushi joint. It's more of an Asian fusion type place and they have a very limited menu, but what they do have is very, very good. I highly recommend trying that beef fried rice thing. I've included a picture of it. It was freaking awesome. You won't be disappointed, but I would strongly suggest going to the restaurant and you'll probably even have a better meal. The next time I'm in Virginia Beach, which is quite often I'll probably just drop in to the restaurant myself.

The dining area inside is small, but it can still accommodate maybe one big group. There's also outdoor seating available. We came for an early dinner on a weekday, and it started getting busy pretty quickly. They were able to accommodate our large party inside since we had little kids with us, though we did have to split into two tables. Since we had small kids, the menu doesn't really cater much to them aside from the fried rice, but they were able to make a non-spicy version upon request. I did expect the food to be a bit larger for the price and portion size, so that was a little disappointing. The kids, however, enjoyed the fried rice, and you really can't go wrong with the drinks. Our tab came out to a little over $340. Overall, this place was just okay for us.

It's a hidden gem tucked into a shopping center and easy to miss from the main road, but there's plenty of parking and once you're inside it's much more spacious than it looks. There's also a wide menu beyond ramen, so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more. Before leaving, I grabbed a brown sugar boba milk tea too. It's not a buffet. And you can order as much as you want, each time. For example, we have 4 adults in our party. My order will go like this: 2 rolls (6pcs per roll) of Spicy Girl, 1 roll of Philly, 1 plate of BBQ squid, 1 chicken yakisoba, 1 avocado salad. And all that's going to come to you. Next round, you order all new items, as much as you want. I'm an including photos of the lunch menu. You can order all you want, over and over, from everything on that menu photo. Are your starting to see the possibilities? Even at lunch, you have the option to use the dinner menu, which costs $5 or $10 per head. It gives you even more options and items. We haven't tried those yet. So we all are Asian food conisseurs. We like quality sushi. We like good Korean BBQ. We love good Japanese restaurants, so how does the food compare here? It's say it's pretty darn good for $19.99 per head, unlimited. The sushi is maybe 1 step above buffet sushi, but it's good. The Yakisoba is almost as good as a Japanese restaurant. The Miso soup is fully just as good. The shrimp tempura is not quite as good as a Japanese restaurant, but for this price and unlimited, yeah it's really decent. The Bbq squid is exquisite. I can't say enough about that. The chicken nuggets and fries were even good. Both servers we've had were Jonny on the spot with recording and drink refills. I mean both times I got 5 refills on the Diet Coke and never had to wait. Impressive. It's our new place after church and we rotate it between here and Chic-n-roll. What's we left today, all very full and happy and pleased, we were already saying we can't wait till next time...

We decided to give Saruki Japanese Hibachi a try on a weeknight and were seated after only about a five-minute wait. One thing we really enjoyed was having the hibachi table to ourselves. Unlike many hibachi experiences where you're seated with other parties, it was just my family, which made for a more relaxed dinner. Our chef was entertaining without being over the top, and the cooking was done well. The steak and scallops were both cooked perfectly, which we appreciated. The meal came with the standard vegetables, although we noticed there were no bean sprouts, which are common at many hibachi restaurants in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We also missed the traditional dipping sauces that usually accompany hibachi meals. Instead, we were served a mayo-based sauce that wasn't really to our taste. The staff was happy to provide Sriracha when requested, which helped. Service was decent, and the food was good overall. However, with restaurant prices being what they are today, the experience didn't quite stand out enough for us to make a return visit. It wasn't a bad meal by any means--just one that ultimately felt a bit forgettable. This version comes across as fair and constructive while still explaining why you likely won't be back.
