This place has become our favorite regular spot! We love the staff, the grub, and the atmosphere for locals. The menu is also pretty big and the cooks always kick butt. The chicken philly is my favorite thing in the whole world, especially with their special sauce ahhhh it's to die for. I had the Chicken Philly Mexicano today and at the suggestion of Curran (the manager), added bacon. It was DELICIOUS! The jalapeños added just the right amount of heat, and the bacon brought out a hint of saltiness that was perfect. What really makes this sandwich outstanding is the drizzle of secret sauce. They pride themselves on their cheesesteaks -- their awning proudly proclaims "best cheesesteak in the desert" -- and believe me, they're good. And they're probably right on being the best cheesesteak in the desert since I can't for the life of me think of who else sells cheesesteaks out here. But it isn't the best cheesesteak, nor is it particularly faithful take on one either. Provolone? Lettuce? Tomatoes? That's like Steak Escape in the mall territory dudes. But they're right, it is good. And fresh. Just not a 100% legit cheesesteak. On top of that, they serve Krispy Krunchy fried chicken and things. I used to get this over at Apong's over in CC (next to the strip club). Haven't ever had the chicken yet -- wait's too long at 15 minutes to get chicken chicken -- but the cajun strips are plenty good. They also serve burgers, Mexican food, and Filipino food. This Alkobar looks like a mini-Flying J -- racks of chips, candy, jerky, etc., etc. Go in the front door and to the left is the counter where you order and pay (or just pay, if you are just snagging a bag of chips or snacks to go). The menu board is right above the cashier's head. Food pickup is at the window on the other side of the store, next to the soda vending machines. There is limited seating -- just two different-sized tables shoved together, with seating for 14 or so. A high-class dining place this ain't. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak, one of my favorites. It was pretty good, but I've had better. There used to be a place in town that shaved the beef paper-thin and blended it with the cheese -- yummy. This was not like that, but still OK. It's kind of hard to mess up a hotdog, but this place managed to do that. I phoned in a to go order for a couple hot dogs and an order of chili cheese fries on the side. The girl who took my order was nice and asked me what exactly I wanted on my hotdog. I ordered my hot dogs with just ketchup and mayo. A few minutes later I stop by picked up my order and returned back to work. When I opened up my food both hot dogs were on a French roll and not a hot dog bun. The French rolls were oversized and cold with no ketchup or mayo like I ordered. I called Alkobar back and asked if their hot dogs normally came in a French roll and a guy answered this time and just said they do for the time being. It would have been nice if they would have told me when I originally ordered that they were out of hotdog buns. Will not be eating here anymore. read more

Went here two different times so far, phoned a to-go order both times. My first time was great, it was early in the morning and first time to try their food and I fell in love with it, it was really yummy. That's why I came back 2 days later and ordered the same food but only to get disappointed because it wasn't the same. The pepper steak I ordered were like 2 totally different dish. The first one was really good, I really like the flavor and how he cooked the beef with the peppers and onions, and the sauce was amazing. The second time I got it was really spicy, the sauce is different (color and taste). I checked my receipt to make sure they gave me the right one and it was right and I remember the guy behind the counter even said it when I was picking up my order. I guess different chefs have different recipe of their menu. They need to be more consistent with how they prepare their food.
