In Apr 2025, I engaged All About Roofing to replace my roof. It was time sensitive as I had to replace the roof in time to renew my home insurance. After talking to multiple vendors, I've selected All About Roofing for the task. Right from the get-go, I've been open about my strict timelines. They gave an estimate of 3-5 days for the roof work. On Monday, the crew showed up on time and got to work right away. On day 4 Thursday, when it looked like the project was behind schedule, I contacted the office with my concern and the need to complete the project on schedule. They sent additional crew members to bring the project back on track. In spite of the larger crew's best effort the roof replacement was not 100% completed by Friday evening. After few more calls, the Operations Manager Jay had pulled all stops. He sent crew on Saturday to complete the remaining work and the finishing touches. Our roof was approaching 20 years, and we started to see small percentage of asphalt shingles with the fiberglass showing (looks almost like snow from a distance). Very responsive starting with my initial contact from Yelp. I wanted to get the roof inspected before the rainy season and also investigate a potential leak. They did the inspection for free and I was told that the roof is still in good shape (to my relief) and pointed out that the pipe jack on our roof wasn't completely sealed. We were able to setup a schedule for new new pipe jack and they got the work done a lot quicker than I was originally told. We used All About Roofing to replace the roof on our ~80 yr old, ~1600 sqft San Jose home with both a sloped, shingled section and a flat torched on section. We also had new gutters and downspouts installed. The initial quote came in at a great price, and everyone in the office was easy to work with to get the job scheduled. I have to also mention that they're extremely punctual- something I value a lot as somebody trying to coordinate house work with a busy work schedule! When they said they would show up at 7:30 AM, there was a knock on the door at 7:30 AM. When it came time to start the project, Greg was our project manager, and he oversaw everything very smoothly. I couldn't believe how quickly the crew worked, knocking everything out in two days. There were a few unexpected complications that came up in the process (dry rot, etc.), but they managed all of that without issue and at minimal cost. The final walkthrough included using a drone to take a look at the roof from above, which I only call out because it surprised me and was pretty cool. Very happy about all about roofing's service. They gave us a fair quote on the repair that needs to be done, did the repair as scheduled (thankfully right before the rainy season started at the end of 2023). The crew came out was very friendly. All about roofing also honors their warranty. I had to schedule a follow up repair with them at the beginning of 2024 as I noticed one of the areas that they repaired was still leaking, it was not caused by the repair they did and was probably just a hard to notice degradation of the underlying felt. They came out again as promised and fixed everything in just half a day. Everything seems to be holding up since then. Our gutters were old and damaged and needed a full replacement. This included removing the old gutters and downspouts, replacing with new gutters and downspouts, and installing a gutter guard. We are really pleased with the results. Our house was built in 1906 with Victorian-style influence, so that meant lots of ridges and protrusions that make it difficult for the downspouts to go flush against the wall, yet the team was able to do it! There was also some wood rot in the soffit, and the team was able to replace that for us (we paid the extra cost, but I was really happy that they addressed it on the same day of the work). The old style of the house also meant that the gutters are placed against the house a little differently than modern homes, and that makes it more difficult to remove or install. All About Roofing was able to replace it all and keep it in the original style of the home. The team is really friendly and very professional. Carlos was the one leading the project, and he is really great to work with. He has a customer-first attitude, and was very transparent on the status of the work, the cost of any scope changes, and does not hesitate to vouch for the customer. Due to weather issues, the project was delayed slightly, causing my project to overlap with the start of another one of their project. So on the last day of my project, he came on his own to singlehandedly finish the remaining installation. I really appreciated that he made sure everything was finished and of high quality. Unprofessional and reckless. I have a very old wood shake roof that is deteriorated visibly, none of my contract want to step onto it because the roof is fragile and can be damaged easily. We are thinking to replace the roof. We asked for a quote from all about roofing, and they sent a guy here for inspection. However, when this guy went out to inspect the roof, he directly stepped onto our roof without our permission. When the guy walked on my roof I can even hear the sound of wood cracking like cookies. Both me and my wife heard the sounds and were terrified. We asked that guy to come off our roof immediately, he shrugged and claimed "it will be fine"! Very unprofessional and unacceptable. In our conversation with this guy, we also noticed that he doesn't even have the basic knowledge in some common types of singles, like composite shingles. All the know is the type of singles they have in stock. I feel that I am more knowledgeable than this guy by just doing 30mins of research online. I had a new roof installed with All About Roofing a few months ago, and overall it went smooth. I met with Mando initially and he went over everything about my options of roofs and that the price can increase based on wood that needs to be replaced or is rotted. We both visually could see wood that was rotted even before the roof came off so I had him come back to at least give me a price to fix the visibly rotted wood. I compared prices with other contractors and decided that the company was the most thorough of explaining the costs and what my options were, and they also were available to do the work which was not easy to find these days with shortages etc. Once the roof came off it turned out that there was a lot of missing boards broken pieces that would need to be filled in. I guess I was a bit surprised on the extra costs involved but I guess older houses can have issues. I did meet Armando to go over everything and he did send me pictures of all the missing boards to they were upfront with everything. They were able to finish the roof on time even with the extra repairs. Once they completed the roof I was able to do a walk through with Mando and he showed me all the wood they replaced. I liked that they actually got some paint the same color and painted the front boards so there was no exposed wood. A few minor issues I had was there was a bit of remaining litter from the prior roof that was not completely cleaned up on the outside. I met with Mando and he cleaned it up. I later found some old roof material inside a closet where the air conditioning units were was so I had to have them come back out to clean it up. They were very responsive to take care of the issues. I also had a bit of an issue with their payment schedules. The list all of the payments on your bid but they do not give you a heads up at least a day before and I travel a lot and I work not close by. The job also changed on when they started due to rain and the fact that they had to do more repairs than anticipated so I would have appreciated a better reaching out on payments before hand. There are like 4 payments at different dates so it was a bit confusing on that front. They basically tell you it's up to me to look at the contract but I think they could have made things smoother to communicate better. It all worked out and I ended up paying two installments together to make them happy. One last thing that I was impressed with in this company is I had a new electrical panel put in while I was getting the new roof. And of all things they vented a pipe through the new roof and did a very bad patch job over the new roof. In order to get a permit for the electrical box the City wanted the roof re-shingled around the pipe. I texted Desire the owner about the issue and she had Mando come back out. They ended up fixing the issue and did not charge me. I was very appreciative that they took care of this. They squeezed us in between rains in January and took care of the permit from the City of San Jose. They worked efficiently, kept to their bid, protected our 2 year old aluminum gutters from damage, and had us select the shingle color from the CertainTeed website. They worked efficiently, cleaned up after the job including cleaning debris out of my neighbor's yard where some had blown over our fence. The roof inspection was smooth, and they were up front about their payment schedule. They include a 10 year leak proof warranty which hopefully we won't need.
