While I have not picked up my tennis racquet in quite some time, I've really gotten into playing pickleball these last couple of years... Until yesterday, I've been using a paddle that my husband got for me and a pair of court shoes that I've had for a really long time. I've heard that All About Tennis is the place to go for both tennis and pickleball needs, so I stopped by to check it out. Whoa - first off, the space is jam packed with tons of merchandise. From apparel to racquets, shoes, socks, and all kinds of accessories, I'm pretty sure this place has it! I was short on time, so went straight to look at shoes. Laura helped me out and brought out a few pairs in my size so I could feel the difference in what the different options were in terms of width, cushioning, support, etc... I ended up purchasing a pair of Nikes that I found both cute and comfortable and I'm about to go use them on the court. I also picked up a pair of features socks, my fave brand. Supposedly, they match prices, but I did not do research to see if I could find the pair I selected at a lower price. I would absolutely do so in the future. I believe there is also a "membership," which I assume offers discounts, but I'm not quite sure how that works. Perhaps I'll return and find out in the future. I'm an All Things Tennis loyalty member. I liked their paddle loaner program, and I bought my first pickleball paddle there and shoes. That took me through about a year of active play. Then I went back to buy new shoes. I picked a nice pair of Asics -- an upgrade I thought because my last pair cost around $130 and just loved them. This pair cost $180 or so. I wore them for around 6 weeks -- played less often, but the stitching around the ankle began to fray. So I called the store and asked for help. They said I could bring them in, and so I did. There I talked to who I think was a manager, busy stringing a tennis racket. He glanced over from the counter, didn't stop what he was doing and then continued to tell me the wear was consistent with me scuffing the shoes when I played. I did my best to explain I haven't had this experience with shoes before and certainly didn't expect it from an expensive pair after 6 weeks. I thought the shoes should be designed to handle the workload. He went on to explain that the shoes are a great value and that not all customers have this problem -- he didn't even pause to really look at the failing seams, but said the shoes would need to have a blowout of the soles to be replaced. I tried a couple times to tell him that an expensive pair shouldn't start falling apart in 6 weeks, but I simply had to leave because he wouldn't even stop stringing that tennis racket to give me his full attention. I did tell him that his idea of value was not shared by me. I've referred several friends to this store in Scottsdale, but no more. Not a shred of decency in addressing my concerns and treated me like I was disposable. Well, I guess I am because I'll never buy shoes there again and will not refer anymore friends there either because this was really a very pathetic and unprofessional way to address a customer concern. Overall, the customer service was poor. In store employees were sometimes outwardly rude and always just shy of rude. We used their pickleball trial program and were constantly harassed about returning the paddles even thought the in demand paddles were NEVER available when we visited. Decided to take up tennis after moving to Scottsdale and came here to get a racket. The store looked a little dated but it has all the essentials. They have a good racket trial program where you can rent different rackets to try them out before buying them. I think it was $30 dollars and it goes towards the racket you end up deciding to buy. The selection of tennis racket is pretty good. I went with a friend who plays tennis so I can comment on how knowledgeable the staff are/helpful as I went with my friends recommendations. They have a good selection of strings and grips and having the racket strung came with the purchase of the racket. I stopped by again during black Friday and picked up a great pair of Nike tennis shoes for $30 bucks so the dealer when available are pretty good. It's been my go to place for tennis equipment. They do have a large assortment of pickle ball, though I don't play so not sure if it's good or not. There is always a steady stream of people in and out of the store. An excellent place to get all your tennis needs solved. There's a wide diversity of products upscale and middle of the range as well as economical. They have lots of cute items in their store to accessorize your tennis gear. Everything from standard shirts, shorts, skirts and jackets to string dampeners with little faces or funny phrases. The employees are knowledgeable about the game and their equipment, they're friendly and attentive. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, and my needs were well met. They even put new grip that I bought for me, which is otherwise a hassle to do yourself. There's a Yelp check-in deal for free Overgrip, too. So make sure you check in and get you for your reward! UPDATE 2 - ran into the cocky kid who works at the store and also is an instructor at SRP. He saw the Dunlop racquet i was using and admitted he was grumpy and lazy the day i went in the store and didn't feel like talking about Dunlop. This store is full of inexperienced and lazy employees and inept management. UPDATE: The guy who posted the response was the same guy who was texting behind the counter and totally clueless about tennis merchandise. If I was looking for an old Dunlop racquet, I actually could by it here because the inventory is years old. Try getting new products in your store, learn how to serve your customers and hire a website guy you total moron. They haven't updated their website in over a year. That is really all you need to know. The website offers various sales on racquets, but nothing is true. Employees mentioned this to me in a casual way, not seeming to care either way. I will never be going back here. After being disrespected and humiliated in front of other customers by the rude employees and manager, I will choose to go elsewhere. If you have a disability I highly suggest you do not go here. It's a shame since I used to shop here all the time, but this incident even led to me filing a non compliance claim with the ADA against them. I hope that someone teaches them all a lesson on inclusiveness and to not judge and call out anyone who walks into their store. If I had known I was walking into a store with such disgusting behavior going on, well, I wouldn't have spent a single dime there in the past either! Update: the reply from the owner privately has been posted (had to screenshot). My response stands and he in fact is still judging me and questioning my disability. What gives you the right? This is why the ADA has been informed of his negligence. You had no right to ask or question what my disability is and how my service animal aids in my care so publicly in front of a line of customers. It is humiliating. I stated her public service work which is only part of the service that she provides- and I still per ADA compliance didn't even need to tell you that! Not sure what you mean when you say I was going to let my dog run around the store. That was something the female employee/manager said other dogs have done. My dog is always on a leash and by my side. She is well behaved and by the way does not shed and is hypoallergenic. Regardless, you cannot keep out a service animal for that reason. My disability is not something that you get to air out in public for others. Like I said, your judgements were preconceived. The next young man says the difference will be put on the card for which it was paid for. Looking at the receipt, I realized it was paid in cash. He said we'll then you get a gift card and I asked why when it was cash. He grunted and refused to discuss. Handed the gift card and just stared. He just left the box on the counter, no offer for a bag or otherwise. Absolutely horrible customer service. So incredibly rude.
