I spoke with the owner upon delivery of my first phase of loose photos, and he laid out different options based on my wants, needs and budget. I was kept in the loop and notified of phases being complete. I then sent a few very old photo albums, with sticky pages, and even those came out great in the scanning process. Everything I've rented from here has been complete and in good repair (not as common as you might think!). Call Texcam for 35mm, 16mm, or digital video cameras, tripods, lighting, accessories (gels, softboxes, cookies, etc.), film stock, grip gear and trucks, or anything else you need to shoot your film/video except actors and talent. Call in advance, though, because it takes about 20 minutes to set up your account the first time, and they do run out of popular things on the weekends. If you are not sure what you need, they will help you figure it out without ripping you off, even if you sound like a total spaz of an amateur. Honestly. I have sent many students there with great results. Their rates are low for the area, but they're sometimes open to negotiation, too. If you can bring proof of shoot insurance, you'll save a lot of money upfront. The location really is in a neighborhood, across from some apartments, so don't think that the address is wrong.

This is, without question, the worst experience I've ever had with a repair business…read more I brought my Canon PowerShot in because the lens wasn't closing completely. The camera still worked perfectly otherwise. Instead of giving me a quote while I was there, they had me wait a day, only to come back with an estimate of nearly $300 for a camera that originally cost around $500. I declined the repair and picked up my camera. When I got home and tried to use it, the camera no longer worked properly. The flash wouldn't function, it wouldn't focus, and it became completely unusable. When I went back to the shop, the owner was incredibly rude and took no responsibility. He told me they "only looked at the camera" and didn't bother checking whether it actually worked before returning it to me. He also refused to stand behind their work in any way, saying there was no warranty, and claimed it would now cost over $400 to fix. I brought them a camera with a lens issue that was still functional. I left with a camera that no longer works at all. My PowerShot had lasted only a year and a month, and I truly regret ever bringing it here. I'm now out a camera, and the complete lack of accountability made an already frustrating situation even worse. I would never recommend this business. So corrupt.

Coming from a small-business background myself, I always prefer to shop local when possible. I brought in my Canon EOS Rebel T7 camera, which had only been used once and was in excellent condition, along with the two additional lenses that came with it. While I was disappointed with the offer I received, I fully understand that businesses need to make a profit, and I was prepared to simply decline the offer and move on. However, what ultimately left a negative impression on me was my interaction with the employee at the front desk. Before leaving, I politely asked whether the store had any Canon G7X cameras in stock. The response I received was delivered in a noticeably condescending tone. The employee stated, "The thing about that camera is everyone and their mother wants it, and no one knows anything about waiting or patience, so there's never any anywhere. But if you want to give me $180, you can wait two weeks or two months for it." Had this comment been made in a lighthearted or casual manner, I likely would not have thought much of it. Unfortunately, that was not how it came across. As someone who approached the conversation respectfully and with genuine interest in doing business with the store, I found the response unnecessarily rude and dismissive. What makes this especially disappointing is that I came into the store prepared not only to sell my camera equipment, but also to spend even more money there as a customer. Had a Canon G7X been available, I would have been more than happy to purchase it on the spot. In other words, I was prepared to be both a seller and a buyer, and I was genuinely interested in supporting the business. Instead, I left feeling unwelcome. Customer service matters, especially for small businesses that rely on reputation and repeat customers. Because of this interaction, Houston Camera Exchange has lost my future business. I hope management takes customer interactions seriously, because a single negative experience can undo what might otherwise be a great business.

Not only is it big but it had a rather famous wall of admittedly broken cameras that I regardless wanted to grab, printing gear, old tripods, manuals and parts bins, a whole half of the store dedicated to film cameras and their lenses as well as a nice dslr and mirrorless set up with their associated gear and point and shoots. I literally prolly looked like a crackhead as I bounced off the walls tripping out seeing stuff I had only ever seen in museums, or YouTube. While I didn't find the camera I came there for I found one of my grails a Oskar Barnac Leica iii. The camera has seen better days yah but for the insane price drop of a slight hazed summicron lens and the tested in front of me body I couldn't say no (432). Bernie, the guy who helped me went above and beyond showing me their whole collection of rangefinders and classic medium formats I was fawning over and made sure I was straight when it comes to practice and handling of something almost a 100 years old. There's something special about a bulletproof camera that's probably seen some form of action that screams to me and that they love shooting and respect the art. While I'd probably be long in between my next travel to the city I'll definitely support them online from 5k miles away. Loved this place and everything it stands for. Support local and people who perpetuate the lost art!

He did mention different countries' passport photos cost varies, so let him know first where is your picture for. He prints them out immediately, the whole process only took about 10 minutes. Saved My Parents' Wedding Memories!…read more I was devastated when another company told me my parents' wedding video VHS tape was beyond repair due to mold. They returned it saying there was nothing they could do. I had pretty much given up hope until I came across International Video Tape Copy. Rima, the owner, was amazing from the very beginning. She offered to take a look at the tape despite others labeling it a lost cause. Rima's customer service was exceptional--she kept me updated every step of the way. From the moment she received the tape to when it was being cleaned and eventually transferred to digital format, I felt like I was in good hands. Not only did she manage to save the tape, but her pricing was also incredibly reasonable for the care and effort she put into it. I had a large number of DVD 's made by a crappy Phillips DVD player/Recorder from camcorder tapes…read more20+ years ago. The format of the DVD's the Phillips created are in an unreadable format that no pc dvd player or conversion s/w on the web I could find could get them to play. Therefore, paid International Video Tape Copy to find a way to do the conversion. It was tough they said. And a few were so bad I had to give them the original camcorder taped. In the end they converted them all to a readable format on memory drives. Job well done and they would checked in with me often giving updates on their progress to completion.

Therefore we came over afterwards and negotiated and sign the contract with him for basic 1 person coverage of our wedding day, December 6, 2014. First off, the day of the wedding, he shows up 30 minutes late from his scheduled time. Once he showed up, he missed coverage of the groom's party getting prepared for our big day. He also brought along an additional video guy that was not in the contract. He said to me, "Don't worry, I will take care of it. You won't have to pay additional." Once the groom's party shows up at the bride's location, he began to be very bossy and awkward. As speakers from both parties begin to talk, he would continuously cut them off and tell them what he or she should say. Speakers from both party asked me who he was and why he was trying to control the whole ceremony as oppose to letting it flow the way the family wants it to. During the celebration, the groom's party gifted the bride's party with a traditional envelope to wish the newlywed wonderful happiness for the life to come. Within that envelope, was $1000 cash. That envelope went missing and there is an anonymous report to the family seeing Mr. Davison Truong, owner of Eternity Photo, taking the envelope and sticking it into his pocket. Secondly, once the reception started at 6pm @ Kim Son Restaurant on Jefferson, he continued to be bossy with our family. Our family supplied the liquor bottles for the party this evening and he told our family member to place it in a certain spot that he himself designated. These liquor bottles should be handled by the serving staff of Kim Son for this evening, not My. Davison Truong. Our family member later on noticed that he walked away with 3 bottles equivalent to approximately $200 worth. As the night continued, he would appear and disappear at certain times of the night. This was the pattern throughout the day, but on the flip side, we hired a different photographer team that was next to us to capture every moment throughout our wedding day. The purpose of mentioning this is because, another member of the family witnessed him walking through the reception searching for things to take. This family member witnessed him going through a blazer on a table and walked away with an Apple Iphone 6+ ($995 value). We asked her to file a police report on this matter. To sum up this report, a lot of things came up missing throughout our wedding day. It started out with the special envelope with $1000 cash. During the reception, these are the following missing items that have been reported to us: Apple Iphone 6+, $700 cash inside a wallet that was inside the dressing room, and 3 bottles of Remy Martin 1738. We have contacted him directly and mentioned to him that we have people seeing him take these items and he needs to return it. Initially he agreed and apologized. He mentioned that he will return everything he took. When the groom's father showed up at his business on 5200 West Loop South, he locked his door and did not show up. We found out later on that he has booked a flight to Vietnam and have already taken off therefore we were not able to get back in touch with him. The dvd's were left hanging on his door on the Sunday he told us to come pick them up. The person that opened the door to the facility was his neighbor from TC Florists. We mentioned to him what happened during our wedding, and he reported to us that we were not the only bridal party that experienced this. He told us that Davison have taken things from other weddings he has contracted before in 3 different occasions, but the bridal party during those occasions decided to drop the matter and not report it.
