Our beardie was limp, had tremors and was near death (it appeared to me). He was not eating alone. Turns out, our lighting arrangement was off. He was not getting the necessary UVB he needed AND he had a parasite infestation. After supplements and medication, our little one year old has more than doubled in size. ACCC provided a same day exam for the tiny kittens we found near our home. One of them was dehydrated and really needed sub q fluids, and I'm so grateful they were able to provide what was likely life saving treatment for brand new patients. A few months later, they also got one of the kittens in for his neuter surgery on fairly short notice and it went perfectly. They are a busy practice but always seem to be able to fit us in on the same or next day. Non emergency surgery was within a week. The doctors are very competent, the staff is friendly and helpful, and they are one of the few vet clinics where you can go in with your pets (everyone else seems to be doing curbside during Covid). They also board, but I haven't yet used this service. I've been very pleased with them and have no reservations about recommending ACCC for all your veterinary needs. read more

IDK what the review before me is even talking about, the exam room I was taken to was very clean and absent of any fur or hair. Anyway I brought my dwarf hotot Momo here for a checkup appointment after she had gotten bit on the face by my lop and I had taken her to Urgent Care late last Thursday night, and they recommended booking a recheck appt in 5 days with my regular vet; however, my regular vet is Northwood in Irvine but they were completely booked out until the beginning of August and out of the hospitals they recommended I try calling, this was the only one that had any availability on Tuesday. Anyway, the vet gave Momo a clean bill of health and said that she was very pleased with Momo's healing progress. Also I wasn't bothered by them taking my rabbit to the back because, you know, I'm pretty sure that's their covid policy. Which I could but the purpose of it being in the records and then we when I was about to pay she comes back and says "oh I didn't know that was a thing. And the other front desk wrote it wrong" she needs to take accountability of it being her not reading the notes and to make it worse I get and email weeks after of my dogs feces and that he had a parasite they found. We took our Toy Fox Terrier to this vet as he had calcium oxalate stones. The Tech made his tummy black and blue and scared him so bad trying to put the cathater in. I was shocked when we saw him. They were so incept they could not even get the cathater in. They did NOTHING but hurt him. Before they could do anything else bad to him we removed him from that place and took him to Dr. Donnelly at Costa Mesa Animal Hosptial were he had to perform surgery to get the stones out. He saved our babys life. If we had not taken him out of there I am sure he would have died. NEVER EVER go to this place. They never even apologized for bruising and battering out little dog. I came her to get my turtle's aural abscess removed and they charged me $500, after the surgery, there was still a bump and they called it swelling. Well that "swelling" wouldn't go away and in fact it got bigger, clearly they had an improper surgery and left a piece of the abscess which continued to grow (I know this because I had left my turtle in the cleanest water I could obtain and followed their instructions diligently). When I reached out to them about the situation they only offered another surgery for the same price. Why would I want to rinse and repeat the situation and lose more money just for the vet to do a crappy job again? Not only that, but they spam me with emails saying Kurt (my turtle) needs to visit sometime. Very annoying and unprofessional. (and I did not subscribe or choose to be emailed). read more

I used to swear by this place, When I first moved to the area 3 years ago exam fee was about $45 and I just paid $75 for an "exam" where I took my own dogs temp and the vet listened to his heart. I was quoted $1,200 for dental cleaning and 3 extractions. During my consultation for his dental procedure I was told "I'm fair, I won't charge for teeth that are already on their way out on their own"... I get a call before extraction time and get told it's going to be $500 more because there are now a total of 8 extractions... many of which were "hanging on for dear life". I thought you were fair? When I got the call about my dog being ready, I asked for final cost and it ended up being an additional $618 more than the initial $1200, making it $118 more than the $500 I was told over the phone. Keep in mind it's "dental month" and I was given 10% off of the cleaning also. The vet also mentioned that he would need another cleaning in about 6 months???? Why would any vet want to put a senior dog under anesthesia twice in 6 months? To charge me more?? This bait and switch pricing is outrageous. I checked recent reviews and it seems other people are frustrated with the downturn of care, affordability and customer service now *adding on that they called back after my spouse asked some questions about why they priced things the way they did and they ended up bringing it back down to just the additional $500 and said to me "we're going to take 10% off the entire bill and an additional $100" as if they were doing me a favor by not charging me more than they quoted me. I want to thank Dr. Behn for saving our guinea pigs' life. Basil saw another vet that was unaware that thyroid issues were not as rare as once thought for piggies. Basil was extremely thin and low energy., When Dr. Behn saw Basil she suggested checking her T4 level. It was very high and medication was prescribed. She continued to lose weight and we thought she might not be here for Christmas. BUT SHE IS AND she has gained a lot of weight and is a little porker now! My hamster was bleeding from her genitals and I was struggling to find a vet that took exotic pets until I found this place. They were fully booked but they were able to squeeze me in for the next day, however I did have to pay $95 over the phone because it was an urgent care exam. The staff was all very nice and informative and the appointment was quick and easy! The whole appointment only took about 30 minutes and then I was on my way home. My hamster got 2 medications, so my overall total I spent was $175. I'm super thankful that this place exists since most vets don't treat exotics so I would definitely recommend this place for those with exotic pets such as birds, reptiles, bunnies, pocket pets, and ferrets etc! read more

My 6 month old 1.5 pound netherland dwarf rabbit died at all creatures care cottage while getting neutered. I understand these things happen and he may have had an underlying condition but I still wanted to share this information. My other rabbit - a holland lop did fine here but the vet was someone I knew, who had seen the lop before and who did the exam in front of me. A new younger vet I didn't know was who saw my baby rabbit and I didn't expect that. I should have asked who I am seeing and do more research. For some reason, not explained to me, the dwarf was taken to the back to do an exam without me seeing. I thought this was very strange in comparison but I didn't say anything or do anything about it. Which I regret. The doctor was nice and empathetic and kindly reimbursed me for the surgery, but not the exam. If I were to give myself advice and do things differently. I would have done more research, asked about the vet I would see, how many rabbits that particular vet had done surgeries on and what the outcomes were. I would have asked for all of this information in advance of scheduling the surgery. I would also tell myself to only bring my beloved pets (family), to a vet that had the best reviews all over the internet, that would only do exams in front of me, that provided statistics on the number of surgeries with outcomes and that ideally also used an integrated health system with both allopathic and naturopathic options. I should have done more research and have after the fact been informed by another vet that they only neuter on 3pounds or greater for rabbits. I also checked a rabbit vet neuter referral site and the vets at this location are not listed as of the date of this post and as far as I can tell. I would advise everyone to take their business elsewhere. The girl at the front desk as you walk in is rude and seems unhappy with her life. I walked in holding a cage with a rabbit in it and my little girl. We're both without a mask. This immediately irritated one of the receptionist. The other receptionist wasn't even wearing her mask when we walked in. It was hanging off her ear. But when she saw the irritation on her coworkers face she immediately put it on. The irritated receptionist asked if we had masks?. I said no. She then told us we have to wait outside. I'm holding a cage it took me a minute to register her request. So again she tells us you have to wait outside I'll bring you your paper work. Fast forward as we've been waiting outside for 30 min my little girl tells me she's cold. It's 530 pm and the wind has picked up. I went inside and asked if my daughter could sit inside while we waited for our rabbit. The receptionist in an irritated tone said " no you have to wait outside! " For me the experience is just as important as the care. And this experience was terrible. And the care for our rabbit was subpar. I told the vet what the receptionist did and all she did was make an excuse for her. 114 dollars later to be mistreated and learn the sex of out rabbit along with some medicine that I could have bought over the counter for half the price. There are other places that you can take your business to that will respect your choice's, not segregate you and not turn away a cold little girl. It was hard to find an exotic vet for my chins and I was actually referred here by Dr. Tom Greek since his office was booked out for over a month. So glad I found them because I only trust bringing my chinnies here now for their annual check-up or any other issues. The facility is VERY clean, prices are reasonable, and it's easy to schedule an appointment over the phone. My Budgie has been acting really weird the past 2 weeks. I did a lot of research as to what it could be. I was already considering finding an avian for my little Petrie and found this clinic. I also thought it might have been depression since we have just moved to a different house, but he was sleeping a lot and was eating abnormally after observing him closely for the past 2 days. So I called this morning to see if I can schedule and appointment. The receptionist was very friendly and also advised me not to wait until tomorrow that the best thing to do was to go in for a walk in and have him seen today. I was so happy to hear that they would be able to do that. I live in Pomona so I was willing to drive all the way out to Costa Mesa for my baby. The whole staff was friendly when I had arrived. The clinic looked welcoming and it was very clean. It did not take long for them to call me in once I was done filling out paperwork. They took my budgie's weight, then Dr. came in to the room and very nice and seemed like he really cared. Once I had explain everything he was very informative and most important of all HONEST. He was not pushy he only recommended what he thought was best. Unfortunately I was unable to afford what he did recommend not because it was over priced, but because I honestly did not have the funds. They also have a $25 off coupon for 1st time clients when you check in on yelp. Super cool! I ended up coming home with Antibiotics I was very worried since I woke up this morning, but once I had given my little one the ATB he was already eating like his normal self an hour later so my heart was eased. Honestly if you have a Guinea pig I recommend going to an exotic vet. They treat Guinea pigs here but my experience was not good. I brought my baby here and was passed around between vets every time who didn't seem to be on the same page at all. Literally went from she's just old to she's not old at all to she has a small issue that can be fixed with antibiotics...which she was put on 3 different ones in a row with no results. She went through all the tests, numerous x rays and an ultrasound which showed nothing until the last visit which was a terminal diagnosis they finally saw on an x ray. This was in the span of 3 months or so. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On top of that I didn't feel that one of the vets had any compassion and was very cold especially when the last diagnosis was made.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Immediately during the appointment while we're trying to process the situation and having a hard time someone from the front comes into the room and asks for payment. In the vet room as we were crying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also in between the antibiotics it was hard to get a hold of the actual vets.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would think that a vet would follow up when the pet is running out of medication or even ask how they are doing. I took my dog Luca in to All Creatures Care Cottage December 22nd between 9-10 am because he was having incontinence with his urine. He was really happy that morning and acting like his normal goofy self. They suggested we do a urinalysis to check what was happening. When the tech came to grab my dog she asked me if he had drank enough liquid, everything sounded normal. When they brought my dog back he was a completely different dog he was in complete shock. He wouldn't move, was extremely scared, and he looked in a lot of pain. I told them I wanted to have Dr.Spongberg come back and check my dog that something was not right. He came in checked him and said wow he surely is acting different, I wonder what happened. They sent me home with my dog in shock, I had decided to walk to the vet that day because we only live a block away, I had to carry him all the way home because he would refuse to walk. Once we got home I still wasn't convinced of what had happened to my dog. I called them and told them look you need to tell me exactly what was done to my dog. Then they decided to explain that the urinalysis was not a regular free catch that they lay my dog on his back did an ultrasound of his bladder and put a needle through it to get the urine. I was never explained this procedure was being done to my Luca, I was under the impression it was a regular catch or an expression of the bladder. My dog doesn't have a voice this should have been explained and I could of then decided if a free catch or this way was a better idea. The doctors response (Dr.Spongberg) was that they don't have time to be explaining every procedure that is being done. But they sure have time to have charged me $344 for that visit. Also his other explanation of why my dog was feeling like this was because maybe Luca had a mass where they put the needle through when removing the urine knowing his medical history of cancer. But my dog only has a little mass on his anal gland that is cancerous. We just got an ultrasound done on him this past Monday 1/11/2021 of his whole body and everything is normal he is not metastasized and has no other masses on his body. So clearly it wasn't that! My dog was treated very poorly and not cared for at All Creatures Care Cottage. My dog was in shock for two days after this he didn't eat, pooped, and wanted to bite my family and I when we would try to pet him. I called them again to get a refund to take him somewhere else and they said they couldn't refund me any money even though services performed weren't described. They had me call a week later to speak to the office manager "Blake" and she told me they couldn't do a refund but that she completely understood where I was coming from and that they will start explaining procedures like this to every client. This place forced my dog and did an analysis that should have been explained. Am sure it can hurt any dog having a needle stuck through his bladder! This type of analysis should be explained and be done very carefully. I wanted to attach a video but Yelp only lets me post photos I will be attaching the receipt and the video I will try uploading it on Facebook of my dog Luca and the condition he was in. After going to All Creatures Care cottage Luca didn't sleep, poop or ate for two days, kept panting, wouldn't move sometimes, tried biting my family and I multiple times, and keep wanting to go outside day and night. It took days off and a lot of tender loving care to get him back to how he is. I hope this helps people make an educated decision before taking their animals to this place. read more

They were amazing with my bunny. I had to put my approximately 9 year old bunny down. I knew this would be the case when I brought her in. Dr. Torres was very sweet and kind. Actually everyone in the office was so sweet and nice. The vet explained everything thoroughly and we felt very in control of making an informed decision on putting our rabbit down. I miss my rabbit so much but this place was so kind and thoughtful. They did not rush us at all and made a difficult process very seamless. A few months ago, my boyfriend and I were looking for and researching vets near us to get our guinea pig's eye checked out (it was red and looked sunken in/droopy). It was already a bit difficult considering most vets only really take in the normal dog and cat patients, but of course, we also wanted a vet who would take really good care of us and our pigs. We came across All Creatures Care Cottage while looking on Yelp, but only really decided to bite the bullet when our friend told us this was where her mom took their ducks. At this point, it is suffice to say: I would not go anywhere else after coming here. The staff are all very friendly and Dr. Torres, who has looked at all three of my guinea pigs, is amazing as well. Any questions or concerns that I had during our visits are always met with understanding and informative responses. Unfortunately, the office schedule changed and seldom meets my boarding requirements. Six of the staff and my pup's doctor made post-Covid career transitions and they definitely provided excellent service and care to my pets. I know there will be a learning curve for new staff, as well as an increase in advance communication needed prior to implementing changes in office hours, availability of staff, and price increases. A written quote for services is optional, but assists in certainty of pricing, office pickup, and drop off times. Remember, they provide boarding and do not provide doggie daycare services. I initially came to All Creatures Care Cottage because they take rat patients. Every time I bring one of my rats in they say how cute it is and how loving. They take the time to listen to concerns and do a thorough check up. The staff is always very friendly. They call a couple days after the appointment to check on whichever pet I brought. The thing that really makes me appreciate this vet is that when one of my pets dies they send me a hand written card in the mail. Multiple staff members sign it and it's just very special. We have had 2 rats die (not long life span ) and we have gotten a card for each one. It's just a very nice gesture and I really appreciate it. read more

Although the waiting room looked nice and clean, I would never recommend this place. The exam room had fur all on the floor, chair, and table. It didn't seem like it was cleaned and disinfected after the previous pet was in there. The tech told me that it's disinfected for 10 minutes after each pet, but how can that be with all the fur all over the table?? For bunnies, there is a virus (nicknamed the bunny plague because the virus is so resilient and kill bunnies with no warning) that can be carried by other pets that is deadly only to bunnies. They aren't even aware of this virus and how it works!! So what other illnesses could they be spreading between pets? Also, I really was unhappy about not seeing the vet examine my pet in front of me. They took my bunny right in the beginning and I didn't see him until 30 minutes later. When they took him, they said they were going to take him to get weighed. I just sat waiting in the room by myself not knowing what was going on and why it was taking them 15 minutes to weigh my bunny. The vet then appears for the first time and tells me that she checked over my bunny (which I had no idea they would be doing or I would've asked for them to do the exam in front of me). It was awkward and very hard to discuss an exam that I was not even a part of (and she stood by the door the whole time, making me feel like they were hiding what was happening in the other room and like she was ready to leave as soon as I agree to all the treatment she recommended). When I asked why they examined my bunny in the other room, the vet said it's because they have people to help them handle the bunny there. That was a HUGE red flag, because what is it that they don't want me to see??? Are they rough-handling my bunny?? The dirtiness of the exam room, the required deposit amount, and the fact that I was excluded from seeing my pet being examined and handled makes me never want to return. No other vet I've been to has treated us like this. I know that if all this happened in a pediatrician's office for a human child (hairs everywhere in the exam room and having your child be handled privately behind closed doors), it would be completely shady and unacceptable. So for our fur babies (who are like children and family members to many of us), why should it be different? Very awful practice and will recommend against this place and never return. read more

I brought my African gray, Oscar, here. Very nice experience, they are very skilled with birds, very glad to have such an amazing veterinary organization close to home. They're reasonably priced compared to official avian vets around the area, and are extremely knowledgeable on birds to have me at ease that when they say my Oscar is OK, i can trust he's definitely OK. I continue to love this place, even though I moved and it takes me an hour to get there. I brought my cat, that is also my ESA, in to get a dental cleaning today. I was obviously nervous and Dr. Torres was exceptionally kind, calm, and gentle with her answers. From reception to the vet tech to the doctor, I felt seen and understood, and like I had their attention and time as they explained what I could expect. I had my mom along with me and she was impressed with their customer service and the cleanliness of the office. Great all around and I'm so grateful I found them early on. They are currently requiring masks and have some disposables available at the front desk, which is super convenient. Our dog has been a patient at this vet for about a year. He recently go very sick and the entire staff was so accommodating, the receptionists were kind and helpful, the techs were wonderful and the doctor did everything to see our dog ASAP, treat him and then followed up with me first thing in the morning to see how he was feeling. I'm completely elated. I have had pets all my life and moved all over the country but this is a veterinarian office that really cares. read more

My dog Gibbs died January 5, 2023. I have been taking animals to All Creatures Care Cottage for 47 years starting with Dr. Joe Pasco in the 70s. I took my 11 year old Pomeranian mix rescue to All Creatures for ten years for wellnesss exams, vaccines, etc. After the death of my beloved dog Gibbs, I will never go back to All Creatures again. Dr. Spongberg's lack of empathy and the reception desk coldness was very unkind during the last month of Gibbs' life. Dr Spongberg's misdiagnosis and my inability to get an appointment or returned phone call resulted in extended suffering for Gibbs and several expensive trips to the emergency hospital where the vet diagnosed Gibbs with a terminal prostate tumor. I feel Dr. Spongberg missed a critical diagnosis for Gibbs during numerous visits to him throughout November and December 2022. Needless to say I am very unhappy with the services at All Creatures Care Cottage in Costa Mesa. I feel they are uncaring and border on incompetent.
