Years ago this was my go to vet. Their website invites to text as purportedly the quickest and easiest way to get an appointment and describe the problem. Last Friday I sent All Creatures my text message discussing my emergency sulcata tortoise severe vent prolapse emergency, with a picture. No response from anyone by the following Monday. All Creatures Don't Care Cottage One word i can think of when i descirbe this office would be negligence. We brought our cat Mrs Norris in after she was in a cat fight. The vet Briefly looked her over and didn't say anything alarming didn't really look at her bite wound . She gave her antibiotics and pain meds and suggested blood work. But said overall nothing looked wrong. She told us the reason she couldn't jump on our bed anymore was because "she was sore from being involved in the fight". So we went home and assumed our cat would be fine in a few days. The next day we got home from work and she could not even walk without falling over. We called All Creatures at 6:30, they close at 7 and they told us to take her to an emergency vet. We found a vet that would see her and he immediately told us she needs drains put in the bite wounds and that she had an infection. Our cat spent the next day and a half with the other vet getting fluids and injections. We brought her home she spent one night with us . The next morning she wasn't doing well , we rushed her to Mariners Mile Pet Clinic where they told us that she was dieing and we would need to put her to sleep. All of this happend from a cat bite. Which was not properly treated, I wonder if they would have actually taken the time to properly look at the wound at All Creatures before she had an infection or fever that our cat would still be with us. I called them and told them what happened and asked for a refund which they refused and said they were at no fault and took no responsibility. This place does not care about treating animals or finding out what is wrong all they care about is prescribing medications and running your credit card . Avoid this place read more

I've been taking my pets to All Creatures Care Cottage for 30 years. Dr. Spongberg who is the new owner of the practice is fabulous! He truly cares about his patients and their owners. The other doctors and the staff are first rate. My pets have been hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, and dogs. All have been cared for impeccably. This vet has gone down hill since moving locations. They constantly over book patients and have you sit for hours. My appointment was at 5:20p.m and it is now 7p.m. and I'm still here. They indicated we were the last patients in office as we were set to leave. As a result, I walked out too casually and someone was dropping off a dog for boarding. The dog got crazy aggressive and bit my dogs ear and as a result I'm now paying for it to be cleaned up. I didn't argue to pay since I did walk out without clicking my dang retractable leash. But honestly this place is a mess. Too many people waiting to be seen and ran very inefficiently. Staff may be nice but their customer service as gone by the wayside! And after saying would cost me $40 to clean up the wound they instead charged $50. After five years of service DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. read more

I brought my little friend, Ratters, here for the first time a few weeks ago. The vet techs and the front desk and the vet herself were so sincerely kind. Ratters went home but he crossed the rainbow bridge. Someone actually called me to check on him and when I told her he didn't make it, she was so honestly empathetic. It's hard to do that on a daily basis - especially for just a little rat you've only met once! Ratters must have flirted with her or something :) Well, yesterday I received this beautiful handwritten card in the mail and I want to show my appreciation and let everyone know how much this touched me. I brought my dog in today with a lame left hip. The care and compassion we received was impressive. I watched bunnies, hamsters and many cats and dogs come through as I waited for my dog to have xrays I am so impressed with the front office staff efficiency and the vet tech gave me several updates. I was provided with an up front estimate so why people are complaining on other posts about the price is beyond me? The veterinarians office is going to cost money- just like the doctors office. I've been a pet owner for my entire 48 years of life. I've had cats, dogs, rodents, bird, and reptiles. I've had all kinds of flourishing animals and also seen many illnesses. Because I've lived all over the county, I've been to many vets. Do NOT bring your exotic animal to this vet. They do not weigh the benefits of their intervention vs the risks (usually stress to the animal). This vet decided to pump my Cham full of fluids (among other things) and put the shots in an arm and a leg on the same side of her body. She was so swollen, she was first favoring those appendages and then ultimately couldn't use them at all. The vet didn't warn me of this at all and if she had, I would have either opted out, or put her in a smaller enclosure while she healed. My cham fell from her vines. She died 24 hours from seeing this vet. read more

The vets are nice but they definitely try to up charge you as much as possible. We called recently to ask about our dogs Cherry eye and surgery prices. They told us we would have to bring our pup in to get a quote- only to find out they don't perform Cherry eye surgeries!! That would have been good information to give us when I called!! Sooo we just paid $75 for nothing... waste of time and money. read more

This place was a bit of a drive for me, but the reviews promised good things. My bird had been feeling under the weather and I wanted to take him to someone who could care for him. The girls at the front were super nice and chatted with me while I waited. The doctor was friendly as well. The cottage has a homey feel inside, it reminds me of a grandparent's house. There are a lot of collectibles and knick-knacks that line the walls. It's a whimsical place, not like other vets. I'll definitely come back next time my little guy needs care. read more

I drove 45 minutes to bring my dog and rat here today for the first time. My husband recommended this vet since he used to take his pig here 10+ years ago and always had a great experience. I had taken my dog to two previous vets without any results. The vet took his time figuring out what the issue was and took his time answering my questions. I didn't feel rushed whatsoever which often I do feel rushed at other veterinarians I've been to. Not only did I feel comfortable and pleased with the diagnosis I received for my dog, I also was very thankful for the honesty I was given regarding my rat. I feel like I've been ripped off in the past at other places for trying to "fix" my animals, while there was actually nothing that could be done anymore. The staff is extremely friendly, including Dr Spongberg himself, the vet techs and the ladies at the front desk. Also the office is really nice! I will definitely make the drive again. read more

This is the best vet office I have ever been to!! The staff are on top of everything and so friendly, not only to me and my dog but also with each other. You can tell they enjoy working there and the office has a very happy vibe. Dr. Behm is very thorough, extremely knowledgeable and checked and rechecked my dogs chart to make sure the appropriate treatments were given and has never made any unnecessary recommendations. I love this veterinarian, I've been coming for 18 years, I thought I would miss Dr Chapman, but Dr Rand Spongberg has exceeded my expectations, their pricing is on par with most veterinarians and the office staff is wonderful, they even gave me recommendations for pet medical insurance which has been a lifesaver. They changed locations recently and I thought I was going to really miss the little cottage, however the new office is so pleasant and accommodating that I don't miss the old location. Recently, I went to have my Staffordshire terrier treated and Dr Torres was working, she was very helpful and great with my dog. I've also had both my dogs boarded here and both dogs were as good as when I had left them. I really appreciate the care and compassions they have for all the pets they treat. I have several . Peace of mind is invaluable when it comes to your children and pets, when suggestions are made like fecal samples or blood work I always work with the doctor to make sure appropriate bases are covered for the welfare of my pets. Blood work and fecal samples are affordable and the results come back with a phone call the next day. It's added insurance and peace of mind. They don't always offer the option but when they do, they usually mean it for a good reason. We all love our pets don't we read more

This place has gone downhill since Dr. Chapman left. High turnover for vet techs and front office personnel is never a good sign. Happy employees, don't leave good working environments. The people who answer the phones are constantly rude, flustered, unable to answer simple questions and don't know how the work the phones lines. I spoke with Shirley at the front desk, good luck with getting any help if she answers. She doesn't know how to place people on hold and hung up on me 3x. When I did finally talk to her, the only answer was "I don't know. Someone will you back" I asked when 3hrs, 6hrs 24hrs? Her reply was "I don't know" Avoid this place if possible. They are expensive, and you don't get good service. Do better for your pets/ babies and take them elsewhere. I've been coming here since 2010, when Dr. De La Torre and Dr. Chapman were there at their original location on Harbor blvd. This place is no longer the "care cottage" it once was, so sad and disappointing. read more

We brought our kitten here because he has some bumps under his fur that we noticed him scratching. It was Saturday morning and we they were able to make appointment same day. The office itself and location were very nice, this review is on the vet that looked at our baby. Per Covid protocol only one parent is allowed in the room, so my husband went in and I waited outside. While there I was googling about bumps on kittens, they were red and under his chin and he had one by his ear. The majority of articles I was finding said it could be some type of allergy or acne. The acne was from bacteria on plastic bowls, but we feed our babies from glass bowls and their water is in copper bowls. My husband comes out and asks to switch, he tells that the vet is saying that it's possibly fleas....fleas???? That didn't make sense, we don't have fleas and none of our other babies have these bumps. I go in and the vet tells me that they want to give him an antibiotic shot, flea treatment and its time for his rabies. We fostered this litter from 4 days old and have one adult, all indoor and up to date on their records as they were going to be adopted. I tell her all of this and she says that some cats have a reaction to fleas and some don't, "I'm not saying its an infestation, definitely not, but maybe a few that bit him and he's the only one reacting to it." I was still confused by this explanation, so I started asking her about the acne/allergy articles I found. She basically dismissed them even though the description seemed to match and said we should try this first and if it doesn't work, we could bring him back and look into other options. We should have listened to our gut. She was pulling things out of thin air and not truly treating him. We feel like fools for letting them do the antibiotic shot which did absolutely nothing for him. After a few days he was still scratching after the flea treatment and the shot. We waited to give their suggestions a chance to work, but she said his bumps would scab and fall off in a few days. That didn't happen, not only that he got a few new bumps, we felt terrible and robbed. After having a terrible vet experience at Banfield, I thought going to a non-franchised veterinary clinic would be better for our babies, seems the same. No real answers, wild guesses and large bills. I talked to a Dermatologist family member and we purchased a Homeopathic skin allergy supplement and a topical Antiseptic and Antifungal Medicated Spray with Chlorhexidine Gluconate and aloe vera, for 10% what this visit cost us. We applied the topical with a q-tip to his bumps and the supplement is a liquid added to his food. Our baby is doing much better now. We won't be bringing any of them back to this place, the search for a good vet continues... read more

I found them via Yelp for our pet frog Fritz. Say what you will, he was "only a frog" but any pet owner can attest, even a cute little blue dumpy frog named Fritz can touch your heart. Of course, Fritz was to be my son Brandon's pet, but of course, he became my "pet" project, so to speak. When Fritz stopped eating, we decided to take him to a vet. All Creatures said they treated frogs so in we went. I was immediately impressed by the homey feeling they created. In the waiting room, there were dogs, birds, a rabbit and yes, a frog. Dr. D handled Fritz expertly and seemed very well versed in Amphibians. One of the veterinary technicians, his name I didn't get but he was quite a cutie pie, was very hospitable as well. Did I mention handsome? They made a follow up appointment and called to double check. Sadly, Fritz took a turn for the worse and died on a Sunday. I called on Monday to cancel and they sounded genuinely concerned. Lo and behold, they send a handwritten sympathy note, mentioning Fritz by name. Sob. If and when we get another pet, All Creatures Care Cottage it most definitely is. read more

GREAT VET CLINIC, REASONABLE I was able to book an appointment same day after noticing something wrong with my budgie's right eye. It was pinkish red in the morning, and I was very worried. The atmosphere and decor was very cottage like, but the AC is on full blast here! I got called quickly after I completed my paperwork. Dr. Spongberg saw my budgie, looked at his eyes and assured me that it was just a mild case of conjunctivitis. He prescribed eye drops for my budgie. Dr. Spongberg was very patient in listening to my concerns. I must emphasize that he did not try to coax me into doing further testing (blood or fecal test) for my budgie like at other money grabbing vet clinics. In the end, I paid 54 dollars, which included the exam and eye drop medication. Granted I was given $25 off for checking in via Yelp. The eye drop medication was expensive ($30, I later found it online for $10). HOWEVER, I was fully expecting to pay over $100 for my budgie. I was pleasantly surprised. This clinic is honest and does not try to coax desperate pet owners into doing unnecessary, stressful tests on pets. I have been to vet clinics who would charge me $75 or more for a 2 minute check up on my pet parakeet/budgie and harass and guilt me into saying yes into taking blood and fecal samples from my tiny budgie. This will be my go to vet clinic for my budgie bird health needs. It's been only two days, and my budgie's eye has gotten better! Thank you All Creatures Care Cottage! read more

I have taken my dog here periodically and decided to book an appointment for a much-needed teeth cleaning. They were very accommodating with making the appointment and very friendly upon our arrival. I received a call from the doctor before her procedure to let me know that she heard something in her lungs. She then asked if I was willing to pay an additional fee to investigate further before doing the teeth cleaning, which I had no problem doing. Her follow-up call let me know we were all clear to do the cleaning but she detected a slight enlargement on the right side of my dog's heart that she felt I should have looked at by a specialist. Naturally, I was very concerned but relieved that she could go through with the procedure and asked the doctor to please include detailed notes so I can reference the issue (I have no medical training and wouldn't know how to position an appointment with the cardiologist). She said she would do that. Long story short, that was 10/7/20. It's now 10/10/20 and 3 phone calls (during the week and today) later and I am still trying to get ahold of those records and notes so I can take her to a specialist. They finally sent me the records just now while I'm writing this. I had to actually insist on the notes from the doctor because they were not included in the first round of records they sent today (after two phone requests today). The person who answered the phone told me I should have the specialist call them for more information if he/she needed it. This makes no sense to me, since I need that information to book the appointment and fill in the blanks, a la my previous point. I had to get insistent in order to get any results, which deeply concerns me and makes me wonder: was this just an excuse to charge me more or was this an actual concern? Money is not the issue, their lackadaisical attitude toward the supposed heart problem and not providing further information without my insistence is. If you really care and there really is an issue, you make it a priority to transcribe the notes and provide them, especially since I called three times to follow up. I did finally get the notes and the records because I persisted and had to question their level of concern and it saddens me that it had to come to that point when my dog's health is on the line. I would not return here or recommend this vet because it's situations like this that truly reveal whether it's a get 'em in get 'em out kind of place or a personal approach to caring for each patient and making follow-up a priority. Today was my first visit to All Creatures Care Cottage. I have a guinea pig with a sniffle and wasn't sure how to go about treating her. She and her 2 sisters are my first experience with guinea pigs. I really love these little furballs and I was very concerned about one of them being sick. My regular vet doesn't work with small animals and I was in a panic to try and find one who can help my piggy feel better. I called many local vets but was not having luck finding one who works with small animals. After searching and searching, another vet recommended All Creatures Care Cottage. I am glad they did! First off, it's a very cool place! The decor is old school but very homey. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and comforting. I have never had a guinea pig before and I was very worried about her sneezing. I wish I could remember everyone's names but I was really nervous about my piggy. The vet tech was very nice. She weighed my fuzzy little girl and made me feel a little more comfortable. When the doc came in, she did an extremely thorough exam of my piglet. I was a little stunned really. I never expected a complete exam like that. Honestly thought she would take a quick look, see that she was sneezing and had a little mucus, get me some meds and send me on my way. But she took the time to make sure my girl was healthy beyond her sniffle. I really appreciated all the attention and time taken. The last vet tech (again I didn't catch her name unfortunately) was very friendly. She took her time showing me how to give my piggy her medicine and took the time to answer every question I had. Again, just fantastic service! I felt so much better when I left than I did when I came in. Thank you. I have other pets as well. I will be sure to bring them here from now on should they need to see the doctor after my experience today. I really want to thank everyone for their professionalism and for their kindness. My 14 year old Chihuahua was diagnosed with epilepsy 12 years ago by All Creatures. Dr Chapman was great, but retired leaving All new staffing. Once a year my dog visits for his annual Wellness blood profile. I recently visited All Creatures for my pups annual which normally runs about $360.00 which is pricey for me at 69 years old, but I love my dog. I was put in a room with my dog. After a long wait a young female Dr. Torres, who was not the doctor i normally see came in, greeted me and my dog and left the room. A while later a young woman, we will call her the Closer, she was not a doctor entered the room and began telling me what medical services my dog needed presenting me with a $ 697.00 estimate requiring me to pay for additional services which were not necessary. Having done this with this veterinarian every year for eleven years for I protested. The young and pushy woman insisted I pay attention to her sales pitch which I wanted no part of. I said listen girl I have been doing this a long time, do not try to push me into unnecessary services, where is my dogs doctor? I think her feelings were ruffled because a 69 year old Grandpa addressed her as girl. I was asked to leave because I defended my right to decide which services I want to pay for. If my dog doesn't get his medication he will dye. I have requested that Dr. Spongberg who owns All Creatures intervene since it was he who I expected to visit, I have not heard from him. I feel like All Creatures has changed from the family Cottage like health care place for pets into nothing but a Money Machine . Doctor Marissa, Torres stood across the room from my dog, never examined him at all, yet she instructed the closer to push services which were not necessary. Beware this place, it's not the same clinic as it was when Dr Chapman owned it. Now it's all about gauging you for every cent they can. My dog was diagnosed with a really aggressive form of cancer, he's been given 6 months to live and put on Prednisone which he's supposed to take for the rest of his life. They told me that it would be really bad if he were to stop taking the Prednisone without being weened off of it. Not ideal, but it is what it is. Now they have refused to refill the prednisone because they want the dog to have more blood tests, but they cant do the blood tests until sometime next week, so we've run out of Prednisone. This is just one of many bad experiences we have had at this place since it has changed hands. They also have refused to give us our dogs medical records so that we might find a new vet. And they refuse to work with Chewy for online ordering of medication, you have to drive to their office and pay their prices. read more

One of the only vets that see exotic pets. I have a turtle and python. They're friendly and professional. I trust my pets are in very good hands here. I gave only 4 stars because the pricing is a bit high. My snake had a prolapse and they charged me $400 to push it back in. It happened again and a friend of mine ended up fixing the prolapse by keeping my snake in a container with wet paper towels and a warmer under the container. The prolapse went back in on its own within a couple of hours. read more
