We have had such great care for our one-eyed dog at All Creatures. Jackie gets the best treatment and tonometry (checking of her eye pressures) at All Creatures, Dr. Gelfand and all of his staff have helped Jackie to remain a one-eyed dog and to get that remaining eye healthy. The front desk staff is able to quickly direct us to whatever service we need and help us keep on top of vaccines needed. Jackie is also Pet Partners Therapy dog and to her health certificate needs to always be up to date and the staff never hesitates to email out all the information we need to allow her to be able to never miss her Pet Therapy visits. Jackie loves coming to All Creatures and she gets great TLC there. Highly recommend them especially with dogs who have vision problems.

We have been using them for 20 years. Very professional, compassionate and reasonable. We now actually travel pretty far to get to them.

    Beach Buds Doggy Daycare

I've been using Beach Buds Doggy Daycare consistently for about 4 months now. My girl has…read moreattachment issues but is typically happier with other dogs. Coming in here, she definitely wasn't the easiest one to work with....and still isn't. She won't typically go potty inside because she's afraid of getting in trouble but is also picky about where she goes potty outside. She also loves to sit in the window and watch for when I come to get her, but of course then she doesn't gain much from the daycare experience. My dog is just plain NEEDY. In the beginning, she didn't seem to engage too much with the other dogs, maybe only briefly. But now that she's had about 15 days total there, she's got her friends. From my point of view, it took her 10 days of going before she learned to love it, she's always a hard sell when it doesn't involve mommy. Now she runs to the door to go inside, no second thoughts about going in. I know she clearly really loves the owner, Derek, which isn't a very easy thing for her to do. Most of the other workers are caring and friendly, I've seen some that pull a little too much on her collar, but it's a bit more rare. I love the options of 7-7, so if I have longer work days I won't feel guilty if she is there maybe 10 hours or more. Drop off and pick up are pretty easy, parking can be difficult in the evening of course. While, yes, they do not have a large space nor a large yard, I know my girl gets a lot from doggy day care. She comes home absolutely pooped from her day, she's better about going potty at the daycare (sometimes she still holds it), and she continues to have positive interactions with dogs of all sizes. I think it's important that small and large dogs spend time together so they can learn the dynamics of greeting, playing, or just being present together under supervised care. The website for booking is easy to use and you get an email reminder on the day you have a reservation. Aside from the cameras where you can stare at your dog for all too long, you can also follow their Instagram or facebook for some sweet shots of your pups while you're at work. Maybe one day they could end up with a larger location, but overall, I think there's a lot for a pup to gain here...as well as the owner. Nothing like having a free evening not having to walk your pup!

After only 2 sessions there was already a MAJOR improvement. Not only is Marty extremely knowledgeable, he makes the training process enjoyable! I rarely leave negative reviews, but after this experience, I feel obligated to share what…read morehappened. First, I want to say that Marty's wife, who handled our scheduling and communication, was lovely and kind. Unfortunately, our experience with Marty himself was the complete opposite. My family has owned dogs our entire lives, and my father owned a pet store in Lawrence for over 30 years. We have worked with dogs for decades and have never experienced anything remotely like this. We contacted Marty because we have two loving, well-behaved dogs, both under 5 1/2 years old. They are not aggressive. Our only concern was their barking when someone comes to the door, an Amazon package is delivered, or another dog appears on the TV. With our first baby due in September, we wanted help managing that behavior. From the moment Marty walked into our home, the appointment felt off. He didn't introduce himself to us or to either of our dogs. One of our dogs barked, and instead of calmly assessing the situation, he immediately snapped at that dog. That startled our other dog, who has some stranger anxiety. I started explaining that she gets scared around unfamiliar people and does best when someone approaches her gently and gives her a chance to warm up. Before I could finish, Marty shushed me and told me not to speak. He then began pursuing my frightened 20-pound poodle with a leash. She ran upstairs into our master bedroom, and he followed her inside and shut the door behind him. She continued barking from inside the room. About two minutes later, I suddenly heard her shrieking in a way I had never heard before, sounding extremely frightened. I immediately went upstairs. Marty came out of the bedroom and casually said, "You may want to come up--she left you a present." I walked into my bedroom to find urine and feces everywhere--not just on the floor, but splattered on the walls and all over our bed. This is a dog who has never had an accident in our home. Marty simply said it was because she was "afraid." My dog immediately ran to me shaking uncontrollably. She was covered in urine and feces and was visibly terrified. What upset me just as much was the complete lack of concern afterward. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the damage to our home, and no offer to help clean or make things right. When I politely said that today clearly wasn't the day because my dog needed a bath and was obviously distressed, Marty responded, "If it's not today, then it's never because I'm not coming back." At that point, I asked him to leave our home. Every trainer has their own methods, but I cannot understand ignoring an owner's explanation of their dog's temperament, chasing a fearful dog through her own home, shutting yourself in a bedroom alone with her, and continuing until she became so frightened that she lost control of her bladder and bowels. We sought professional help for a very common issue--doorbell and delivery barking before welcoming our baby in September. Instead, our dog was terrified, our bedroom was left covered in urine and feces, and we were left cleaning our walls, bedding, and floors after what should have been a professional consultation. I sincerely hope no other family has the experience we did.

Yuji the lhasa, our most recent dog was so amazing that the mourning period stretched to nearly 3 years. We are now between dogs, and we got a lead that there was a small poodle in foster care who needed a good home. We filled out an application and did not hear back. Later we found out that the poodle had behavioral issues, and was not the kind of dog for us. I had written a review of our experience that was probably harsher than need be, and someone from Posh took the trouble to write back and explain that they are booming and can't always keep up with every applicant. If you want to take advantage of their offerings, I might recommend dropping by if your application doesn't get a response right away. From what I saw on the web page, their selection of dogs for people like us is absolutely first rate. We have had a discussion about adopting a worthy dog in the spring, and I strongly suspect that they will end up with five stars in our ledger.
