My name is Robert Corrado, i am from Massapequa NY and i had the pleasure using All Creatures two weeks ago for the first time. My 12 year old golden retriever had a tumor on his hind knee and my regular doctor wanted me to see a specialist. My friend Larry Gold has been using Dr. Gelfand for 20 years and swears by him. I waited 5 min before i was seen and the first thing that this Dr. did was get on the floor to examine my dog. he petted him, played with him and did a through exam. After the x-rays he advised me that he could in fact remove this tumor and give back to my wife and i some more time with our pet. Doctor Gelfand knew how to treat a pet as if it was his own and that is important, real important. So with that said the surgery went fine and a few days later we had our dog back. Worst vet practice we've ever experienced. Should have learned our lesson first time after experiencing a mis diagnosis from a cereal box certified vet that led to mistreatment and added difficulty to an older dog. Now during a pandemic where chaos is a bit mainstream after less than a month after services rendered a bill was put to collection. After failed contact attempts bc they had wrong contact information....OFFICE MANAGER lied to us and said we have her this information when we tried to resolve payment then contact phone number was 2 plus years old. Mickey Mouse vets...over priced... horrible bedside manner and now evidently crooked will NEVER use this vet and they are literally around the corner read more

READY FOR THIS: I shared that My defenseless cat; Fluffy was taken to All Creatures in Long Beach in pain. The Dr. examined him and said he would take a sonogram. When he returned within moments, he showed the FOUR of us a sonogram of a very large stone. Went through the whole song and dance that he couldn't promise anything. THE PICTURE OF THE LARGE STONE SCARED US TO DEATH. Would have done, signed, agreed to anything. After sharing that I was NOT CONVINCED OF THIS and took him to two other Vets they were shocked at what they heard because it did not match with what was wrong. They couldn't believe that the medication never came with instructions like Shake well nor refrigerate,( posting those pictures as well). Turns out ALL CREATURES DOES NOT KEEP SONOGRAMS, so they don't have the sonogram that scared us and no lab report on stone. The reason is, ready, NO STONES,,,,,,,,,,, Now trying to say we never saw that picture; funny just saw identical picture ONLINE. Please beware, so many people got in touch with me with similar stories. My cat has a run of the mill Urinary track infection, was given antibiotics and is NOW, FINALLY Himself. No thanks to All Creatures and their horrific receptionists who kept putting me on hold because she KNEW that I KNEW. They got caught lying. BTW, The DR threatened me with slander; really, or are you going to call my husband again to beg me to stop telling the truth about you. To be honest my first time going there I was very optimistic about the place, it has a nice feel to it and look. But the time it took to attend us was outrages. I was the first one there and they attended the lady that came after me and was also brand new to the place. It took them a good hour and half to attend me and my cat. Then after they did, the vet took FOREVER to show up, he was too busy talking behind the door instead of doing his job. At first I thought he really cared about my cats well being but when I called him the next day to updated him about my cat, he wasn't there to receive the call so I was told he would call back later and never did. I continue to travel all the way from Brooklyn to visit All Creatures because Dr. Geltman is the best vet around. He is honest, not in the least bit pushy, has a holistic approach to treatments which I greatly respect and is very knowledgable. He takes his time with you and is always helpful. Having a vet tech background I am VERY picky about vets as I worked with some of the best, but I can honestly say Dr. Geltman is up there on my list. The front staff is always nice as well and they seem to take great care in their patients. read more

Everybody steer clear of Dr. Harding at all creatures vet in the west end of long beach!! She overlooked a life or death diagnosis because she rushed through an exam and now our dog who was only 8 years old is dead!! I brought our dog back twice to this vet ($400 later and they didn't do a damn thing for her) and this diagnosis was completely disregarded and by the time we were forced to rush her to emergency it was too late. Dr gelfand and gelfant at all creatures are ok, but if you see dr Harding run away! Don't make the same mistake I did and trust her opinion. My family and I are completely devastated. This review is long overdue. I have a wonderful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was very ill when we got her. All Creatures staff took unbelievable care of her for months and she is now a healthy, happy 7 year old doggie! She is always happy to go to the vet for her visits; tail wagging and is truly at home there! The Vets, Vet Techs, receptionist staff are all so dedicated to the well being of our pets. We especially look forward to the holiday photo shoots with Santa and the newsletters about seasonal health concerns and monitoring your pet's weight. We are beyond grateful for their gentle manner and professional expertise. Never have a problem scheduling an appointment and they are ready if you have an emergency. This review is for Dr. Lewis Gelfand- we just filed a complaint with the Long Beach Police Dept for the most outrageous threatening behavior we have ever come across. My dog was taken in last week to remove a large wart, he told us she did not need a cone around her head to prevent opening the sutures, and that if she licks it to use a t shirt. We paid $360. We used a t shirt all week and in the middle of the night last night the sutures opened and she had a bleeding gaping wound had to take her to emergency vet where we paid an additional $400 to get staples to stop the bleeding and they sent us back to all creatures to follow up today. They were shocked that we were not given a cone at all creatures. At all creatures Dr Gelfand recommended leaving the staples - ( he made this decision not even sure if the vet last night cleaned properly) and watch for infection. I said no I want it properly stitched up again to avoid infection he said ok. My mother picked up my dog I was home on the phone with her when she said they are charging us $260 for today. I asked to speak to him on phone. I explained kindly that we just paid $400 last night when we didn't do anything wrong per his instructions and her stitches opened up, and we paid $360 last week so can he please work with us on today- he was foaming at the mouth yelling at me right away on the phone that it's not his fault we got ripped off and paid $400 for some staples- telling me I shouldn't have gone there -he yelled that they did not even clean it yesterday (he was ready to send her home originally risking abscess not even sure if it was cleaned properly) and yells more at me that it's not his fault and we have to pay - then hug up on me. My mother then came home with the dog to tell me that it got far worse- she told him not to yell at me and he came running in from the hallway screaming at her violently so threatening that the receptionist got up to block him from my mother because it looked like he was going to hit her. The staff was so shooken up they didn't even know what to say about charging they said it's fine she could leave while he screamed GET HER OUT OF HERE!!!! This is a doctor ?????? This is a professional human being screaming and threatening at pet owners?????? After their dog has to go through more trauma because HE did not give the right follow up instructions!! We have never in our lives been treated this way!!! gone are the days where men can get in women's faces and intimidate them by yelling at them without the law getting involved. Today was a hard day as my 15 year old pup passed away without much notice. I called All Creatures to bring her in and have her ashes made.. when I called and told the woman my dog just passed she said ok can you hold on?... I was in shock as most people would express their condolences to a grieving owner. I proceeded to hang up because I would not give my business to a place with no empathy. I chose to bring my beloved pup to the island park vet and they showed me the sympathy most would. Happy I took business elsewhere read more

I have an older cat with medical issues and this is the best vet I've ever taken her to. They are attentive and thorough without being confusing. The doctors take the time to explain everything in a way that's easy to understand. I truly feel that they care about my pet just as much as I do. They never recommend unnecessary treatments and tests and I believe the care they have provided has successfully improved my cat's health and quality of life. Once again, Dr Gelfand saved the day! Thinking my shepherd's swollen leg was the result of too much ball playing, it didn't make sense to me that she wasn't limping on her leg. Off we went to see Dr Gelfand, who remains the smartest and most caring veterinarian that I know! One minute of my tale of swollen but not limping dog, and he checked and found that her lymph glands were swollen. In fact, her other legs had some slight swelling also. Differential diagnoses in hand, Dr Gelfand had a plan that covered all of the bases, from infection from ticks to (ugh, the worst case) lymphoma. First tests back showed no lymphoma!!! Waiting on the test for tick infections, likely tomorrow. And how do you get a result that fast regarding titers for tick infections? You don't do a titer, you get a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test - results within days instead of waiting for weeks. I know in my heart that had I gone to my local veterinary office, a PCR test would not have been an option, or even mentioned. I have known Dr Gelfand for over 30 years and whenever there is an important issue, I drive from NEW JERSEY to LONG BEACH, NY. He's a lifesaver!!! read more

I had such a great experience with this vet. For my first appt as a new client with a 9wk puppy, I was seen right away. (I filled out paperwork online). She was first seen by the vet assistant (see below). Then the doctor came in to exam after the assistant took my puppy's weight and temp. The Veterinarian took her time to get to know my puppy before rushing into the examinations and scaring my lil love to death (like my previous vet). She took a lot of interest during the examination and gave me a lot of useful information. The facility was very clean and organized. There wasn't any smell or nothing of any sort. The Front desk looked organized, clean and the receptionist was very friendly. Some people may complain that the place is expensive. Honestly, you get what you paid for. First of all, having a pet is a big responsibility and is very costly. I went to another vet who was a lot cheaper but I had such a horrible experience with them. If cost is a huge issue just get pet insurance, or just don't have a pet. The only negative thing I have about the place is that I didn't care too much for the veterinarian assistant. I didn't get a good vibe from her. She was gentle with my puppy and examined her well but I didn't like her attitude. Overall, I love this vet and I will be coming here from now on. read more

The best Vets in Long Beach! Dr. Gelfand and Dr. Geltman are true professionals. Our dog was treated with great care from doctors and staff and Dr. Gelfand even calls personally with results and just checking in. The tests can be $ but they use top notch procedures and lab systems that make it worth it and never push anything your animal does not need. read more

Brought our French Bulldog in to see Dr. Harding - The dog was very sick and the office was closing- she told us we had to take the dog to Plainview emergency because they were in too much of a hurry to close- The dog died on the way to Plainview. There was no compassion and no regard for life. All the office cared about was closing. If you want caring professionals I would suggest you go elsewhere. Dr. Harding handed back a dying dog that she knew would never make the trip to Plainview. If you love your pets don't go here. read more

Dr. Geltman Dr. Gelfand I just wanted to thank you both along with an exceptional staff that has come and gone within my 20 yrs of outstanding service at All Creatures I am not an emotionally person by custom. The occasional overwhelming despair and tears only Java Saatchi or Paco could evoke had always been relieved after seeing either one of the two most gracious and talented vets Nothing was as bad as I though and everything was all good before I knew it. I will regret that Saatchi will not have the same loving end as Java did. Dr Geltman ty for that and outstanding care for my dogs. Dr Gelfand thank u for surgery after surgery, outstanding care and the laughs we still tell about Java frozen on the table when u needed to take ex rays. Dr. Gelfand for $75 which wouldve been paid within two weeks, out of thousands paid on the spot, I felt our conversation was both shocking, sad and uncharacteristic of the 20yrs of past service. Either u have lost focus or wish to severe our relationship either way..and I can't believe I am saying this... Took my cat for his first visit soon after we adopted him. The female vet who came in did a quick physical exam and started to look concerned as she claimed she felt a dangerous lump near his abdomen. She suggested multiple unnecessary tests that would have cost me hundreds. I told her I would think about it. Afterwards 2 techs came in together to rip out a few pieces of hair for a sample and shove a q-tip in each ear to check for mites. Since our cat gave a struggle they acted so irritated and were just rude about the whole thing. After that one visit I will never go back. I luckily switched to a different veterinarian hospital that offers kind, compassionate care. read more

After many days of no phone calls back when I did reach the office they have a non vet relay messages to you.They even diagnosis by phone through a secretary or office person! Their medicine charges are highway robbery! I will never use them again and will deter all I know from using these unskillful, usless people and wish them the same treatment they give when it comes to their own health!(HORRIBLE). INCOMPETENT!!! Stay away from this place if you value your pet's life! They have the technology but they don't know how to diagnose an illness. Are they really even doctors??!! I took my cat there when I first started noticing that she had lost her appetite and was wretching. They took x-rays but couldn't figure out what was wrong. Dr Silverstein (ha!) said that perhaps she had eaten a piece of wood. WRONG!!!!!!! Her diagnosis cost my cat her life! She had a HEART PROBLEM!! Another time they removed a growth on my dog telling me it could be cancerous -- it turns out it was a growth that just would have gone away. I don't even want to give this place a single star. So why am I writing this?? I guess I just reached the tipping point, and frankly I have never written one of these reviews before. But now is definitely the time. In the past few weeks, as I got into conversations with neighbors while walking my dog, several told me that they blamed All Creatures for the deaths of their animals - usually dogs. And I and my family had also had horrible experiences in which I too feel that they were responsible for the death of my cat and my daughter's dog. Three years ago, they totally misdiagnosed my rare cat, who in fact had cardiomyopathy - not a difficult disease to diagnose, and one which is very common to the breed. Had they known anything - or bothered to try to find out - she should still be alive today. My own kids have had horrible experiences with them as well. Off hand I can count almost 2 dozen people whom we know well who have horrible things to say as soon as you mention their name. But equally negative is the office "personality", which is all about the money and really nasty. I have personally witnessed the staff there being really obnoxious and discourteous to several people. Staff is a reflection of the owners - always. Of course I should have realized how truly miserable they were when I took a little tiny kitten, maybe 2 weeks old, that I found in a parking lot in town that looked like it had been mauled, could barely walk and looked like it's eye was either infected or badly damaged. I took it to All Creatures, because it really needed medical care. When I got there, they wanted me to sign some sort of financial responsibility form. I have lived in several places around this country and I have never had a vet refuse to care for a hurt stray animal. But even worse was the fact that our extended family had used them for many, many animals and had given them a fortune over the years. I should have known then. (By the way, the entire family, all our kids, their in-laws and their kids refuse to take any pets to them - and we are a real pet friendly family with over 35 dogs and cats!!) As I write this my dog is at a veterinary hospital for stomach and intestinal surgery to remove fabric that he ate from his doggie bed. All in - with boarding, surgery, anesthesia, follow-up and medicine - the bill is $850. When I told a neighbor of mine who asked where my dog was and I explained, told me they had had a similar problem and All Creatures charged them close to $5,000. And the vet we now take our animals to is a graduate of the top veterinary school in the country. A word to the wise should be sufficient. read more

We have been using them for 20 years. Very professional, compassionate and reasonable. We now actually travel pretty far to get to them.

My guinea pig was so sick, after calling so many places that told me they were over booked and couldn't see him All Creatures took him immediately. Dr. Johnson examined him thoroughly and even got a second opinion from another vet in the practice. They did all they could do and my bill was beyond reasonable. Unfortunately he didn't make it, I called the office and spoke with the receptionist about burial/cremation. She must have relayed the message to Dr Johnson because the next day I got a heartfelt voicemail from him. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnson and the staff from All Creatures, they left with the feeling that there are still vets out there that care about the animals and not just the money. read more

woke to find my ferret foaming from the mouth & non-responsive laying on her cage floor, so i called immediately & rushed her into All Creatures for an Emergency visit. upon arrival, i spoke to the receptionist & explained it was an Emergency & she could see my ferret was near lifelessness in my hands & asked me to take a seat (7:30am). the office was fairly empty, just 2 dogs with their owners - one with a hurt paw & another there for annual shots. after sitting & waiting doing anything to keep her conscious (blowing lightly in her face & rubbing her ears) i spoke up & explained that this was not a normal visit, this was an Emergency. irritated, she went in the back & told us to wait in one of the visit rooms (7:50am). we ended up sitting in that room for over 30 minutes with not a person to even come in & check on us (8:30am). eventually i became irritated myself & went back out to the front desk to see that the waiting room was empty & realized the vet. was seeing the other dogs before us, even after i explained the urgency of our situation. again irritated & full of attitude - she assured me the vet. would be in to see us in no more than 5 minutes. we remained in that room for an additional 20 minutes before a vet. tech came in and told us he was finishing up & in 2 more minutes he would see us. well, another 15 minutes past as my ferrets breathing became virtually non existent & she was completely unconscious (9:10am). the vet. finally came through the door & examined my unconscious ferret, telling us he needed x-rays and to run tests. we said whatever you need to do to save her. after 15 minutes he came back & said it could be one of several things but he was unsure. he said he hydrated her & recommended we keep an eye on her & that if things got worse we should bring her in again & was about to send us on our way! i bluntly explained to him we were not leaving without some kind of medication & told him to make an educated guess if that was all he could do. it turns out she had an ulcer & if she went untreated she would die. thank god his educated guess happened to save her life but i was in shock about how this was handled. if i knew they handled Emergency situations like this i would've gone anywhere else to another vet. although she survived it was a terrible experience for us that convinced us to never go back to All Creatures again! read more
