So... I have to admit... I was one of those guys that chose the low bid and paid the price…read more I had a small excavation job and I thought it was too easy to mess up... so, I let a few hundred dollars difference cloud my judgement. I went with a different local guy who said all the right things and bid low. The guy's website said: "Attention to Detail Guaranteed. I offer this service at an extremely competitive rate while not compromising on a quality finish." Boy, was that a lie! This guy had no business doing this type of work. But... that's a different review. I called Brandon and explained what was going on, and even though I didn't hire them, he took time out of his day, came out and gave me some critical feedback. Brandon was professional and clear, and as he talked I knew I had hired a general handyman to do a professional's job. If it hadn't been for Brandon and his expert advice, I would have been left with a shady contractor and an unfinished excavation site. I should have hired Brandon and his crew to come out and do the job right the first time! Thanks for being a standup contractor, Brandon!

We've been using Conser Quarry for years now…read more David is an excellent driver for Conser, he can manipulate that Mack Truck like nobody's business. His ability to get the gravel exactly where I want it and the evenness of the spread he can do is phenomenal. The office staff are always pleasant to deal with and their communication skills are excellent. Their scheduling is incredibly punctual. When they say between 8-9am, you better be ready by 8am. Our driveway is very rural and approximately 1/3 of a mile long. Originally our driveway was just a rough base of some gravel mixed with dirt. We started with '3/4 minus' (3/4" gravel with gravel dust). Over the years the the potholes always returned during the rainy season. Conser Quarry has it all, so we switched over to '3/4 open'. '3/4 open' is still the same size gravel but without the gravel dust. In many situations the gravel dust consolidates like concrete and helps convert your driveway into an almost paved one. Our ground here though gets so soft during the rains that we switched to the open gravel. This material then presses down into the mud and builds up a strong support layer. Now our driveway and turnaround no longer get muddy or potholes. We get a couple loads of '3/4 open' every few years to build up the base. Now our driveway is sufficiently higher than the field and is above the winter mud.

He was Very Kind & Gracious every step of the way. Pricing was fair. Ricky was flexible, and adapted to our changing wishes about the work, as it went along. He has a Keen Eye For Detail, and he's Very Conscientious. He sealed our concrete driveway and sidewalk, as well as applying a Beautifully Decorative Trim on the Driveway, and All Along our Stamped Concrete Pathways that encircle our house. But most impressive to me was his masonry work. He restored and sealed our terraced stone front yard, that had been crumbling apart for several years. He ground out the cracks and the old crumbling mortar, and replaced it with a mortar that matched our stones much better than the original. He added years of life to the steps and top platform. Plus he added new stones where we wanted them, matching them pretty well, even though our type of original stones are no longer available in our area. I've looked. He did a Great Job in every way, and he's a Mighty FINE Human Being! Thank You, Ricky! Hope to see You in 3 years to seal it all up again. ~Sunny :)

Previous owners planted large shrubs next to the wall, making things worse. Most of the professionals I talked to wanted to repair this wall. Ricky Lemon said it would be a lot of work, and expensive, but he agreed with me that the wall had to go. He and his small crew tore out the wall and the shrubs, hauled off the debris, and installed French drains and a terraced block wall that looks great in about two weeks of really hard work. Mr Lemon and his crew were respectful, pleasant to interact with, always willing to explain what they were doing, considerate of me and my neighbors, and really a delight to have working on my property. The work was top notch. The crew worked hard in hot weather - and I like this about Ricky Lemon - he provided cold drinks for his crew, insisted that they take breaks, and did not work during the two hottest days (so far) in July. In the end, he added railings on both sides of the two flights of steps up to my front door. Since I am as old as that wall was, I am really grateful that he did the extra work to find good-looking, sturdy, safe railings for me. The whole thing looks great now - I need to plant some flowers in the terraces, but it is too hot for that just now. If you hire Ricky Lemon, you will get someone who is a really good worker, who produces a great result - someone who knows what he is doing and does it really, really well.
