The team completed our fence in just 3 days, which was impressive given the quality of the build and materials. Pricing was very fair and they were transparent the whole way through. We also got personal help from the owner Luis to collaborate ideas for our gate locking mechanism. What stood out most was their attention to detail--not only in the craftsmanship but also in making sure everything stayed within city guidelines, which saved us time and potential headaches down the road. If you're looking for a fence that's well-built, reasonably priced, and handled by true professionals, we highly recommend Bayside Fencing Company. Once the wood is all settled we can't wait for their help to finish the look with a coat of stain.

He did a great job explaining the situation, showing me what he would do. Before he left, he somehow managed to get me a very professional quote. Having some bids prior, he was inline with the rest. Told him let's do it! And his crew showed up 15 minutes early, got to work without me interjecting and finished and cleaned up. Very good experience. Very communicative. When we need more work done, I'll be back. Given the bid was inline with other companies of similar ratings, I would say the value was good for the money spent.

During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I am requesting immediate contact to resolve this matter professionally.

After getting multiple quotes, Matt stood out for the best combination of experience, value, and craftsmanship. He was incredibly patient--sticking with us for nearly a year through timing delays, big decisions, the birth of our child, and City permitting hurdles. Now that we've moved on to other projects, we truly wish every contractor were as professional, skilled, timely, and collaborative as Matt. Our first project was a large fence around our steep backyard. Matt met with us and our neighbors multiple times to finalize placement and coordinated on what needed to be cleared. His team completed the fence at record speed, and the redwood blends beautifully into the forested backdrop. It looks fantastic--and our dog loves his new wonderland. The second project was a much more complex like-for-like replacement of a 30-year-old deck. Matt guided us on what to keep, what to upgrade, and walked us through material and design options. We chose TimberTech decking with a redwood and hog wire railing, and the result is stunning. Despite unexpected permitting challenges with the City of Oakland, Matt stayed fully engaged, coordinating with our structural engineer and always making himself available. His team demolished and rebuilt the deck remarkably quickly, and the finished product has transformed our home. It's added so much gathering space, and every time we're out there, it feels like we're on vacation. We recommend Matt without hesitation for any fence or deck project.

The fence is up, and they did come back when we raised an issue, but we had to compromise on the…read moresolution rather than getting it done right. I wouldn't use them again. The original fence was designed so the corner post was shared, making it feel balanced and intentional from all three properties. The new install prioritizes one long run and drops a post mid-span to branch off for the neighbors. It's not as clean or considered, and you can tell. To be clear, if they had simply followed the original footprint, this would have been a perfectly acceptable fence. It's sturdy. But the materials are budget and there's no craft to it, so getting the design wrong makes an already basic fence that much harder to fix. Communication was poor throughout: no response when we confirmed our availability, then two guys showed up unannounced on a day our neighbor's dog was in the backyard. There was also a 10-foot measurement error in the quote. We hired a company instead of DIY-ing because we wanted something thoughtful and neighbor-considerate. This felt like they just got the fence up and moved on, and we're the ones living with the result for the next decade.

Joe, Miguel, and team at Expert Gate Company have been great to work with. The scope of our project…read morewas in two parts: replace our driveway gate and make it powered, and then later replace the front fence and pedestrian gate, this time incorporating a built-in parcel box and security hardware. Expert Gate's craftsmanship is rock solid and we're really happy with the results. We live on a downslope hill with MANY utility lines underground to literally work around. It was a complicated project that required an entirely custom fabrication to follow the grade of the ground, with posts in really specific positions. We worked with Joe as our Project Manager, and throughout the process he was attentive and receptive to feedback, quote negotiations, and design requests along the way. There were 3 things that popped up over the duration of the project. We kept having issues with the gate operator that took longer than anyone wanted to deal with. It ended up being a series a faulty parts from Liftmaster, and nothing to do with the installation from these guys. Additionally, there were a couple of details that I wish were incorporated into the quotes, such as measurements and design mockups (we had to talk about a couple of things and make decisions in real time, which could have been mitigated if we had more specifics on the quote & planning process). Finally, the overarching project time for the front fence did take a little longer than expected. We had to have the front of the house in a bit of a construction state for a few weeks, but ultimately the end result is polished and very well executed, and we're happy with how everything turned out. Those minor issues aside, were still glad to have worked with EG and will gladly work with them in the future. Thanks again to Joe, Miguel, and the crew!

Update: found someone else who was able to fix everything without moving the posts at all. Insanity…read morethat I was going to let these guys swap out my aluminum posts for iron posts that wouldn't even match my gate. So I ask again, what are these guys experts at? Initial experience was bad. Sales guy came, was short with me, seems uninterested. Promised to give a quote. Waited 4 days. Didn't get a reply. I wrote a bad review and moved on. Owner contacted me asking me to remove the review and he can help me out with my gate job. I needed someone to help fix a botched gate install job so agreed. The job was to remove two existing posts and replace it with new steel posts. The price quoted for TWO posts were not cheap. He seems to think he's doing me favor for labor only but it was not cheap. It cost the same amount as the full job by the other company for the full install. I'm OK with it because at that point I wanted a job to be done by someone who knows how to do the work. Of course, I found out the reason they're expensive because they SUBCONTRACT to another company that specializes in gates. Are they the expert or is the subcontractor the expert? Nevertheless, I waited a week and a half for the scheduled date. The night before, he text me and ask if I have two steel posts that they need. They quoted me a very high amount to fix two posts but does not provide the materials for the fix. These guys are supposed to be experts in STEEL gates but do not have the materials for STEEL. So what are they experts in? Subcontracting? Reselling gate install service? What irritates me is that he sprung this on me at the last moment the day before. Our conversation was that the quoted price includes labor and materials to fix except for the extra materials that are needed that are ALUMINUM which I purchased. The fact that he asked me to provide STEEL materials at the last possible moment was maybe because (a) he misquoted me or (b) the subcontractors wanted more money to do the work. In any case, I cancelled the job. I cannot trust a company that bait and switch. If you misquote, then you own the difference, not spring it on your customer at the last moment.
