ANA is one of my favorite airlines to fly to Asia. They have great in-flight service and the planes are clean and in good condition. Fares can vary in pricing by route, but I have generally found better pricing on ANA through LAX. Traveled from LAX to Tokyo on my way to SE Asia. Check-in was easy and I was able to reserve an aisle seat in the back of the Dreamliner plane, which had a row with only 2 seats in it that gave me a bit more leg space. The in-flight experience is comparable to Japan Airlines, though I like the food on ANA better. The in-flight entertainment system is packed with plenty of movies to choose from to make the flight time go by quickly. Since I have to transit anyway to get to SE Asia, I like connecting in Tokyo since the flights are a little shorter and it gives me a couple hours to walk around, get a bite and shop duty-free before getting on my connecting flight. I would also recommend trying an open-jaw flight itinerary on ANA as I have been able to find good fares flying into one airport and flying out of a different one on my back to the US. This has allowed me to visit new destinations in Asia affordably. read more

A very efficient and clean airline with the exception of the difficult booking system. =BOOKING= I took ANA with a party of 9 to Japan for three separate flights in economy. The first two flights went smoothly while the final flight was riddled with issues. Notably our final flight consisted of us all being placed in various rows. Fortunately we were able to get an adult next to youngest child by chance. We tried to purchase seats together upon booking but were refused the option. For the previous flights, we paid $25 per assigned seat but were denied this for the last leg. =FLIGHT= Entry onto the plane was fast, having multiple lanes for people to present their passport, boarding pass and face. Despite having 5 boarding groups and a packed plane, boarding took only 30 minutes. Each seat came with a headset, blanket and pillow. The movie and media selection was limited during the flight to Japan and there wasn't any USB charging port. However, during my flight back to the US, there was a single charging port and a longer list of movies. Domestic flights on the Starflyer included complementary wifi for all guests. When asking for water, we were all given entire water bottles as opposed to a cup. Instead of a screen there were several charging ports instead. Great experience for my short flight. =FOOD= Service was stellar onboard. We were given drinks every few hours, including red and white wine. After every meal, there was hot green and black tea. A bag of rice cracker mix was given at the beginning of the flight and Japanese candy at the end. Lunches and dinners consisted of either entree A or B with set sides. Vanilla Haagen Dazs was given afterwards. Breakfast had a similar format without the ice cream finish. I found the meals to be well seasoned albeit too salty at times. Vegetables could have been fresher but each set seemed well balanced. The service on air was polite and everyone was ensured a meal or snack regardless they were sleeping or not. Ultimately I wouldn't mind flying ANA again but I would ensure that the seats would be placed together. Otherwise, I would rather take another airline so my large party wouldn't have to be split for an 11 hour flight. read more

Airline was absolutely amazing. Our trip to L.A to Tokyo was so good. Almost no delays, no turbulence, extraordinary service, but I got food poisoning from the food. Aside from that though, totally recommend. Just bring a meal and diaherrea protection. read more

First review of 2023, and giving the honor to my other favorite airline... 5 stars!!!!! My plane fare from Los Angeles to Manila post-COVID on Philippine Airlines in April, 2022 was about twice the amount I was used to paying pre-COVID, so I decided to look at other carriers for my other trip in July, 2022. Decided to go with ANA after finding a better deal through the ANA website. For about the same price as Philippine Airlines on Economy, ANA gave me Premium Economy for the LAX-HND and HND-LAX and Economy for HND-MNL and MNL-HND segments. Yes, Philippine Airlines is a direct flight, but excited to try out Premium Economy for the first time even with the stopover in Tokyo Haneda. Could not believe my luck when I was informed at the ANA Check In Counter at LAX that my seat was upgraded from Premium Economy to Business Class for the LAX-HND and HND-LAX segments of my trip! Thank you All Nippon Airways! Got to experience "The Room" Business Class on ANA's 777-300ER on the way to Tokyo Haneda as well as regular Business Class on ANA's Dreamliner R2D2 Jet back to Los Angeles. Yes, the extra room on Business Class with the lie-flat seat/bed was amazing, and the food was beyond amazing and super delicious! Loved that I can order anything that I wanted on the menu at any time, and yes, I definitely took advantage. My segments from Tokyo to Manila and vice versa were still on Economy, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that ANA has so much legroom! Philippine Airlines' legroom is good, but ANA's is really really really good! The food was also pretty good and delicious. ANA's economy is so good that I will consider ANA for my future trips to the Philippines in addition to Philippine Airlines. The ANA staff, from the check in process to the plane, was very welcoming and friendly on all segments of my trip, whether I was seated on Business or Economy. Other pluses to go with ANA include the following: 1. Same amount of luggage allowance as Philippine Airlines (2 free Check Ins at 50 pounds each with Carry On) 2. ANA uses Terminal 3 in Manila, the best terminal for traveling to and from Manila 3. If your stopover time is enough, Tokyo Haneda makes it possible to spend a few hours in Tokyo. 4. Plane bathrooms have a bidet! Definitely feels like you're in Japan! Recently booked a trip to the Philippines this upcoming summer, but I found Philippine Airline fares still too expensive. So excited to find a much cheaper fare with ANA on economy. Of course, I wouldn't mind nor decline another upgrade!!!!! read more

My previous review on ANA solely focused on the premium economy on ground, web and internet services. This, including the clunky ANA App has lots of room for improvement. Customer service on the ground is almost non-existent and has a long way to go. Understandably, I was very frustrated when I could not contact them to make changes to my ticket. And there is no way to seamlessly do so via the App, phone or the web. Enough said. This updated review is devoted only to ANA's in flight business class services. The whole landscape changes if one is to compare the business class cabin with that of Premium Economy. Food and service in business class is top notch. All food selections had a strong Japanese influence, and that included the international choice on the menu. The business class lounge at Narita is superb. I have addressed the lounge food choices separately in reviews of the specific lounges themselves. In summary, make sure your ticket is air tight and you will not have second thoughts on making adjustments. If you can do so, ANA will work well for you. read more

I have used this airline when we travel to Japan. So we have flown with then four flights now. Twice in business class and two times in premium economy. Each time they were really professional and friendly. The nice thing is that business class you get the full flat , lay down sleeping experience. The lounge before you flight was amazing to. The food on board was so amazing and wonderful. You could eat when ever you want. In premium economy you do get the lounge prior to your flight which is fantastic to but the seat only tilts back a little more than economy which is still better than just economy. You only get two choices for food on board. Night and day in the seat class comparison. The staff of ANA is amazing and always there to help you out and do their best to make you as comfortable as possible. It is so nice they include 2 free luggage check in and that they up the weight to I think 70 pounds. This doesn't help when you go to another connecting flight that only does 50. Still so nice. The check in staff was wonderful of course Haneda airport was quicker and less hassle than the US one. LAX was a crazy line and they don't open till a certain time before your flight. Oh I used points to get my flights which was great since I transferred them from our Marriott account. It's totally nice to fly using points if you have them. read more

For our latest trip to Japan, we took ANA for our long haul flight from Vancouver to Tokyo. Then again for the short-leg connection from Tokyo to Osaka. As well as for our return trip back to Vancouver. For our leg to Japan, we actually got upgraded to Business Class, which was something we were never informed about until we re-printed our boarding passes at the airport and noted that our seat assignments differed from our digital boarding passes on our app. While a very pleasant surprise, we do wish ANA had taken the effort to notify us ahead of time, to prevent any confusion had we not printed physical boarding passes at the airport (something I almost never do) and simply relied on our app (which never updated to the new seat assignments). Service on board was impeccable, and ANA truly lives up to its reputation for delivering exceptional customer service. This stood true for both our Business Class and Economy Class legs of our trip. American airlines definitely have a long way to go to even come close in the level of service delivered. At one point during my return flight from Japan, one family actually completely missed the boarding and takeoff time. Instead of simply taking off like any other airline in the world would have done, ANA actually held the flight for 20mins because the passengers had checked in luggage and they wanted to remove it from the plane so it could travel together with the family once they were re-booked. The even crazier part of this story is that the family showed up during that 20min crew delay to look for their luggage in the hull, and the gate crew actually LET THEM BOARD! The family sat behind us and we saw a bunch of duty free bags in their arms, so they clearly paid no attention to the time while they were all busy shopping. This was obviously extremely frustrating to us and the other passengers who got delayed as a result, but it really demonstrates how much ANA will bend over backwards to help ensure every passenger has a good flight. ANA planes are definitely not the newest, but they are definitely designed with more comfort in mind than you will get with any American airline company. Everything from wider seats and more legroom, to footrests for all seats in Economy class. It was extremely gratifying on a nearly 11hr flight to still have leg room AFTER shoving my backpack underneath the seat in front of me. Only thing I would have liked to have seen is newer monitors that support bluetooth, as it's rather wasteful and antiquated to have to issue a headset to every passenger. The Business class seats go full flat, and have a half-partition for partial privacy if you're in the center aisle with someone to your side. It would have been nice if the partition had the ability to extend fully instead of being stationary, for if you happen to be seated next to a complete stranger. On our return flight from Osaka to Vancouver, we unknowingly got booked onto their Pikachu Jet. This was completely unbeknownst to us in advance, because the flight details did not state anything about this being a special flight, and the gate location did not have windows for us to see the plane prior to boarding. It was not until we were in our seats when we noticed all of the Pikachu themed items, such as the headrest, flight attendant's aprons, the cups and napkins, as well as the Pikachu themed souvenir pack they give out near the end of the flight. Although we did not partake, they apparently offer a lot of Pokemon-themed gift merch for sale as well on this flight, as well as quite a few episodes of Pokemon to watch on the in-flight entertainment. During deboarding, they piped the Pokemon theme song over the PA, which was a nice touch. The only thing keeping this review from 5-stars is ANA's antiquated website, app, and lack of available customer service agents via phone. We had issues selecting our seats during the initial flight out, as well as checking in for the flight back. These issues persisted through both the website and the app, both of which was particularly clunky to navigate. The only solution offered for the former was to call their customer service, which kept my wife on hold for over 2.5hrs before a live person answered the phone. As for the check-in issue, both the website and app both came back with a technical issue error message, and would only suggest checking in at the airport as the only recourse. read more

Worst customer service of my life (living abroad for 10+ years, flying 2 to 3 times a year) Full detailed story here : https://airlines-experience.com/2025/01/14/terrible-experience-with-ana/ Long story short : My wife, myself and our daughter (3yo) had a 3 weeks-long trip planned in Japan to visit our family. We bought a return ticket with ANA * I and my daughter couldn't make it and joined later by another way * Arriving in Japan, my wife confirmed with ANA staff that my daughter and I will be able to use the return ticket * On the return day, ANA staff refused the check-in and made us pay 731220 JPY (~4900 USD) in new tickets for the same plane, and this, with the most unprofessional staff possible at Haneda Airport, 2 hours before departure (see the full story for details). The company (after many other reasons we refuted one by one) claimed it's their rule, and refused to take in consideration their own staff confirmed to my wife we could use the ticket. Without this confirmation, We would have bought another ticket, much cheaper. We paid, and hopefully we could... else we would have been stuck in Tokyo with a 3yo child, paying for hotels and restaurants waiting for a cheaper ticket, a nightmare in other terms. Back home, We wrote customer support about it and after a month, they replied they cannot identify the mentioned staff, even though we gave them the exact place, day and time my wife spoke with the person. Either it's an awful organized airline, either we don't share the same values about making mistakes, assuming and repairing them, I'll let you judge. In both case, I won't recommend ANA to anybody, neither I will use their service in the future This plane route is the best way for my family to reunite once to twice a year but I'll find another way, even if it has to be longer or more expensive, not a penny of mine will go to ANA anymore. read more

WORLD'S WORST AIRLINES--GUARANTEED. Incompetent, negligent, and intentionally deceptive. Promised a refund because of their error (took $700 but no ticket issued) in a few days.. 5 months later and 20 phone calls and emails, still getting the runaround. Received a "notice of refund" in 7 days.. and that was two months ago. Shuffled between Japan, Phillipines and US offices (only open 4 hours a day!) with no resolution, just passing the buck. .. BUT in every phone call they actually refuse to send a confirmatory email, even after giving you a case number, in order to hide all evidence of their avoidance and chicanery...Looks like a lawsuit, but will also not give you their US address or Legal department... They lose 1 to 5 billion US a year.. and I can see why. They should be SHUT DOWN (after giving me my refund, for which I am paying my credit card number 28% interest! read more

I so badly want to give Al Nippon Airways 5 stars because their in-flight service was incredible! The reason I can't give 5 stars is because their customer service on the ground is non-existent. After purchasing my roundtrip ticket from Los Angeles to Bangkok, Thailand months ago, I had received an auto generated email from ANA to "contact ANA customer service about a change in my flight itinerary". Their customer service number - 1 (800) 235-9262 is USELESS! I was on hold for more than 1 hour an never got through! The virtual chat agent couldn't help an referred me back to the toll free number. I tried 3 times, wasting over an hour on-hold every time I called and never was able to contact an agent. I ended up driving 50 miles to the ANA office in Torrance only to be locked out an read a sign that said call their customer service line! ANA on the ground is still playing Pandemic in 2023. Jeez! I got desperate an went to the ticketing counter at LAX to find out what changes were made to my flight. The ONLY change was the type of Boeing 787 layout. ANA has 8 different layouts for their various 787s. It was something I could have dealt with at check-in! Nothing major! The inability to contact an agent after being instructed by the airline to contact them is unacceptable. ANA more than made up for their incompetent ground service in the air. Before my flight, I was thinking ANA will get a 1-star rating from me. Their flight attendants were all professional, friendly and attentive. Food was the best I've had in coach and they were very generous with the booze. My return flight was even better. ANA even turned me on to a new (new to me) Japanese beer that I will seek out at local Japanese restaurants. It's in my photos. Clean aircraft, great onboard food, generous with the booze, excellent service from the flight attendants, on time, didn't lose my luggage, I have no complaints about their inflight service. My suggestion is to rehire your customer service agents and reopen your offices to the public - especially if you're sending out emails to contact them. read more

ANA has stranded my wife in Haneda airport due to a canceled connecting flight during Typhoon 07. She's halfway through the trip, and ANA has "ghosted" all the passengers on the flight. Your flight home is canceled. We have no alternate flights available. No hotels. No meal vouchers. An announcement was made telling all of the passengers they were on their own. The ANA staff then closed the gates and terminal, shut off the lights, sent the local phone to voicemail and left. We have no idea how my wife is going to get home. We have no idea where she might be able to stay during the natural disaster. I'll never trust my wife's safety to ANA again. read more

One of my top 3 favorite airlines to fly hands down. I may be bias with my Thai Airways but since Thai doesn't fly out of lax anymore, my next favorite airline to fly to the motherland is ANA. Top ground staff around, basing their customer service straight from the Japanese culture. Great customer service onboard. And all around top customer oriented airline. One of my top choices to the Far East! read more

I have flown ANA three times to Singapore in business class, fortunately, and they have always been excellent in service and amenities. In fact on one round trip one of the cabin attendants recognised me and even remembered my name. I am sure I was not that memorable on a long flight. On another trip, I was delayed about 8 hours in Narita Airport because of a typhoon flying over the area. Since I was in the business class lounge it was much less stressful and there was food and drink available throughout the whole event. I took a short walk outside the lounge to stretch my legs a little and found that the ANA ground staff had brought out free snacks and drinks for the economy passengers stuck in the terminal. A small gesture would go a long way. US-based airlines can learn a thing or two from ANA. read more

ANA experienced a mechanical issue with their tire that delayed our 14 hour flight to Haneda Tokyo. It caused me to miss my connecting flight to Vietnam. When I landed, I was greeted by gate agent Mine K who was extremely sarcastic, rude, and unhelpful. The only option she presented was to rebook me onto another ANA flight next day and wait at the airport for 24 hours. I asked to be rebooked onto a Japan Airlines flight that night to Vietnam, in which she lied to me and other families and said it was full. She even threatened to cancel my entire flight and for me to pick up my bags when I said waiting 24 hours due to a mechanical issue was not acceptable. She was ok with leaving me stranded at the airport and losing thousands of dollars on my flight. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they were able to get me onto the JAL flight. When I boarded, I saw all the open seats and rows and immediately felt bad for the other families that bought Mine K's and other ANA employees' lies about the flight being full. read more

On their economy deluxe, there are like economy class in Cathay Pacific airline, Singapore airline, or other airline. The food is not good taste. It is waste of money to purchase economy deluxe. Economy class is good enough. read more

Passengers on ANA airlines take notice if you google for a customer service number. We found one (877)925-1731. Called and was told by John w English accent that it is a consolidated call center. He had access to our confirmation number and said to change would cost $975 but he can waive $300. He sent me a txt w a new confirmation number of the flight we want. We texted him back and said we are ready. John called back but this time he had an Indian accent and said he couldn't hold the res and it would be $775. I googled again and found a new number (800)235-9262. Was in hold for 49 minutes but reached someone w a Japanese accent. She couldn't find the new confirmation number John gave us. And the change is only $280. Be careful if the customer service number you find for ANA and probably other airlines. read more

I'm so glad I booked with ANA as first international trip out of the states. Their airplane food was enjoyable. Economy was roomy too! I slept most of the way and wasn't too bad. The flight attendants have a super high tolerance for dumb responses too. There was this one lady on my flight who kept turning away possible plate food they offered cause it wasn't her first choice by the time they asked her. Being on the very back of the plane doesn't guarantee you all the available choices girl, deal with it and don't be such a snob. read more

This is for confirmation ID299F United Airlines, and All Nippon Airways 2LY21VA. I bought a ticket for $1,010 from LAX, USA to Da Nang, Vietnam). United Airlines and All Nippon Airways extorted me for $1815.30, and I had to pay an additional flight from Singapore to Vietnam for $320.01 from Jetstar Airlines resulting in damages of $2170.31. They did this by United Airlines employees at the call center me that I met all criteria for travel to Japan. In addition, the United Airlines app (which I am a member updated me on their app about all requirements needed). None contained any information about baggage policies to Japan. ANA Baggage Policy https://www.ana.co.jp/en/us/travel-information/baggage-information/checked-baggage/ All Nippon Airways/United Airlines said I could fly to Japan as long as I left my bags in the middle of the airport! Then, they said I couldn't get on the flight because they said I had to pay for their overpriced ticket. The going rate was $350.00 to Singapore (one way). They charged $1,815.30. I told them that I spent thousands of dollars on hotels, and accommodations. I asked them to show me where Japan's "mysterious policy" is. They told me that it doesn't exist, but that's the rule, "sorry." Avoid ANA if possible. Poor backend ticket tracking system and atrocious customer service. Had a horrible experience with ANA airlines flying from USA to Vietnam and back with my mom. The flight to Vietnam had 3 legs. The first two legs were managed by Delta Airlines and went perfectly. The last leg was ANA and was appalling. For the 3rd leg of the flight specifically (Tokyo to Vietnam), I was unable to check-in online and was told to check in in person. I arrived at Tokyo Haneda and immediately went to the ANA staff to get their help checking in. For two hours, the ANA's Japanese staff were unable to find our tickets. Eventually, I called the US ANA helpline who were able to find the tickets within 15 minutes. However, it was too late and we were delayed 24 hours. The ANA Manager was obsessed with deflecting the blame. She blamed Expedia and ticket changes however, when we pointed out that the other legs of our flight went fine. She tried to convince us it was our fault that we didn't have the ticket. As if it was our job to access their system and track/print our own ticket. A ticket, by the way, which the US Reservation center had, but the Japanese ANA staff in Tokyo Haneda were too inept to find. I pointed out that my mother, a 63 year old cancer survivor, needed a place to sleep besides the airport benches, and pushed for just a hotel room as compensation. But the ANA Manager refused to provide any compensation whatsoever, became visibly upset at us, and said we should go back to America. The return flight was deja vu. 12 hours before the flight, I was once again unable to check-in online. This time I immediately called ANA and described the issue. The ANA customer representative told me our tickets are confirmed, I have her repeat this confirmation 3 times. But lo and behold, when we arrive at the airport, we are told they don't have our ticket. Fortunately, we anticipated this and arrived at the airport 3.5 hours early and were able to make the flight after a substantial delay at check-in. ANA doesn't seem to have their ticket management system together and even worse, when they screw up, they won't own up to their mistakes. Absolute disgrace, avoid if possible. read more

Just arrive 20 minutes before your flight and they take care of everything. My favorite part is that they have their own security so you don't have to go through the regular tsa security. I know a lot of people have a lot of complaints about Delta Airlines. But, you have to keep everything in perspective with all domestic carriers. They're all pretty much the same. They all try to do a good job. But, sometimes problems arise. Hopefully that won't happen to you. Personally, I've never had any real issues with Delta Airlines First Class. Sure, sometimes the flights are a bit delayed, but they've never been massively delayed or anything like that. That's a good thing. In terms of service, I really recommend that you fly First Class on Delta Airlines. Sure, it's not anything near International First Class. That's a completely different ball game. But, flying domestic first class really gives you a bit of an advantage. First of all, you get to board the plane first. Meaning, you're allowed to get to your seat, put your bag away, and sit back and relax while all the other passengers struggle to find their seat and a place to put their carry-on luggage. In terms of what they offer for food and drink, it's all complementary. Is it great food? No, not really. It's pretty much what can be expected. But, it is a step above economy class, and certainly you don't have to pay for it. This is the same with their drink menu. Anything you want to drink, alcohol included, they provide to you for free. Plus, you do get a considerably larger seat than the ones they offer in economy class. Overall, as with all flights, you just have to be prepared to accept what's going to happen. Certainly, we all want the best experience possible. And, for the most part, Delta Airlines has never let me down. But, you have to be willing to roll with the punches. The best way to do that, I believe, is to fly Delta First Class. It really takes a lot of the edge off the trip, and makes the whole flying experience a whole lot better.

My plane left Los Angeles International (LAX) exactly as scheduled, flight preparations were organized and folks got in line according to their assigned zones. Many of our senior citizens in wheelchairs were allowed first and there were a lot of staff who facilitated the departure protocols. The flight was very smooth with some bumpy ride along the mid-flight but seems comparably similar with any other flights I've taken everywhere. The stewards and stewardesses seemed not so sweet and focused, not the usual, can we offer you something"? I'd say, it's probably cultural although this are just observations on my part, since this time, I bought an economy class ticket during the last minute. Eva Air has the best food compared to other airlines that fly the SEA route, chicken pasta, Chinese-style cooking and a comprehensive fruits and sandwich galore accompanied our meals. The timeline for serving food and snacks was perfect, not so late nor early, just about right. They also seem to recognize our need to sleep and allowed quiet and dark during our flight and bathrooms were also clean and fully packed with everything we needed. One observation is the wide seats and better spacing of their plane compared to other Asian airlines, who pack their seats and seem very tight and skimpy. The stay over transition was alright although they (Eva Airlines transition staff) keep asking for printed tickets in Taiwan when some of us had difficulty activating our phones to show them our online boarding tickets. Since passengers aren't able to access anywhere, they should have a better way of not trying make us feel, we have to painstakingly look for a WiFi access (was too weak for an international airport and inconvenient to those travelers just passing by) to be able to show them our boarding tickets again! Our transfer trip wasn't too bad as we safely landed in Manila on time as scheduled, and smoothly.

I liked it so much that I flew them again to Japan despite a longer travel time (they connect through Taipei) rather than paying for mediocre service on an American carrier.
