This was our very first experience with China Airlines. This review is for the first leg of our flight from Los Angeles to Taipei, Taiwan. The check-in at their LAX counter was a hassle and very disorganized. It made for a very long check-in wait. Took almost an hour to make it to the counter. Once we made it to the counter, though, the employee was quite nice and professional. The plane seemed a bit older. We were seated way in the back in the basic economy seats. That is what you get when you decide not to pay an upgrade fee to get a guaranteed seat at a better location. Got lucky to receive an aisle seat so I was pleased. The in-flight entertainment system worked with no glitches. Movie selection was not the best, but that was okay. The two meals we received were actually pretty good. Service from the staff was efficient and friendly. Overall, it was an A-Okay 3 star experience for this part of our flight from China Airlines.

I'm being very generous with the three stars. I flew roundtrip from LAX to Yangon. I had a stop in Taipei and then four-hour flights to Yangon. The fourteen hour non-stop flights to and from Taipei were on worn out and dirty 777s. I've never been on a 777 that was so janky. The headphone jacks didn't work properly on both flghts. 14 hours is a long time with no in-flight entertainment because the headphones don't work properly. On my flight from LAX to Taipei, it smelled like someone got sick on my seat during the previous flight. Nasty! The food on the 777s was bland and bad. Just like the old jokes about how bad airplane food is. The legroom in economy class is nonexistent. If you're not tall it's probably OK but if you're anything over 5'10" you'll make good friends with your knees. The flight attendants were great, though. They do the best they can with which they have to work. The flights between Taipei and Yangon were a much better experience. The 737s were in much better shape, much cleaner, and the flight attendants were fantastic. It was like I was on a completely different airline. I was able to get airfare for under $1,200 less than two weeks in advance so I was pretty pleased with that. Check-in at all the airports was great. No complaints there either. My bags arrived in good condition, too. Next time I fly that route I will very likely choose another airline, even if it cost me more.

We were Fly from Ontario to Taiwan 4/7/2026 we were booked tickets from Trip.com by mistake my husband last name were filled out wrong so airline charges $80 never happened before, so we were agreed to pay ,so check in customer service she called Co co Zheng supervisor to help us change, she gave us bad attitude we were never experience she left us stood by counter one hour she went out to helping others customers, when we got very upset I told to one of her co worker what kind services ,terrible service we would not fly China Airlines again, not recommended any one too read more

In economy class, there are 4 seats in front of you, so you'd expect 4 spots to put your carry-on if you don't want to put it in the overhead compartment. With the way the seats are constructed, there ends up being 3 divisions, meaning the people in the middle must share their space with their neighbors. Seats seem pretty small too. I am a small 5 foot tall person, and the seat was barely wide enough for my shoulders. Staff was friendly. read more

This is a repost from 2019 as somehow the business changed from China Airlines to Air China. ----------------------------------- You know, China Airlines does not get the credit that they deserve. I had the opportunity to fly on China Airlines (Taipei to/from Honolulu) and found them to be excellent. I was fortunate to fly in business class, so I was able to enjoy the comforts of "luxury" for my trip. The ground crew were prompt and efficient when checking me in at both airports. The benefits of flying premium, no waiting in lines. It also helps if you are TSA pre-check. You can breeze through the herd (unless if you are traveling during high season) and go to a lounge and relax before your flight. The crew on the flights were both warm and welcoming when you board the plane and during the flight. They will interact with you in the language of your preference. They always came around to check on the passengers during the flight. Although, there was one time I was asked which seat I was sitting in when I went to the business class bar to get a nightcap. I will chalk that up to me looking disheveled (messy hair and tired eyes). But honestly, why would I be in the business class bar area when they separate the two class by a draw curtain? The food served on the flight was some of the best airplane food that I had during my trip. The plating was nice. The serving selection was spot on. What could have made it better was if they left the bottle of champagne. I probably could have just asked for that, but hell......I am not a lush...... Have not fear of worrying if you like to watch movies during your flight because you have a 20" or 22" screen projecting right at you. It is touch screen so you can swipe right when you find someone you like....I mean a movie you would like to watch. They have selections in English, Chinese, and Japanese. This selection is also for the tv shows and music housed in the entertainment system. As for the lie flat seats, they were very comfortable. I fell a sleep like a baby in a crib. I read in other reviews that you could as for turn down service. However, since both flights were full, I did not ask. The pillow and blanket provided were soft and comfortable to use to fall asleep. Though I will say the best airline comforter I used during my trip was on a low cost carrier. Think double As. Trust me. It surprised me too. Overall, I would fly on China Airlines again and recommend them to others. read more

China airlines flight from Taoyuang international airport, located in northern Taiwan coast area. The China Airlines departure on time, I purchased business class seat, I looked back, it was so nice the employee worked at Taoyuang International Airport China airlines counter arranged a two windows business class seat for me flight attendant provided two meals, beverages because China airlines departure at night in Taiwan time zone, I was felt so exhausted, I slept and missed one meal. Just few minutes prior landed in Ontario international airport I used China airlines cabin restroom, next morning after I got up from the bed I got sore throat, and bronchial irritation very sick people use restroom spread virus make another passenger feel sick The worst part of travel experience is After various of people use rest room The China airlines cabin restrooms are filled with lot of germs in the air. I had to hold the breath Too many sickness people in the China airlines cabin China airlines Lacking sanitation During the 12 hours non stop flight between Taiwan to California United States China airlines flight attendants treat people fairly, friendly , helpful, polite, excellent speaking voice, communication The best part of China airlines are I travel around the world From several decades long travel experience Compare with other airlines, Frontier Airlines, Delta Airlines , VASP airlines China airlines little better than most airlines Because Flight Attendants provide best quality of service and China Airlines always arrived and Departure on time Always feel safe during the flight good people work for China Airlines. read more

Just flew with China Airlines for the first time two weeks ago for a trip to Thailand from lax with a layover in Taiwan. It was interesting. Actually pretty cool because everyone was kinda Asian everyone was very quite and respectful no problems what so ever. Everyone was on time all the flights were pretty much on time with minor delay and when I say delay it was literally like a 35-45 min layover. The service was amazing the first flight all the way through to Thailand. The food was even better! The bathrooms all worked the entire time nobody had a problem with being able to walk around and or stand because after all it was a 14 hour flight. I brought my own blanket and neck pillow so I couldn't say how the blankets and pillows were. I noticed a lot of people using them so they couldn't be that bad! Pretty roomie as well seats were comfy. They had cool little TVs with all sorts of media and games on them. Tons of new movies to choose from including wonder women. Cool games like bejeweled and pool! They even had an awesome documentary on split boarding/ snowboarding and skiing! They do offer free beverages such as white and red wine beer I know I saw a lot of Heineken. Not too sure what other brand beer they had. Food was pretty damn good for being air plane food! Don't count on it being hamburgers and hotdogs though it's China Airlines so think of more like rice and chicken or fried rice and Asian deserts which were pretty damn good! The fruit not so much. I believe they serve you two meals during the whole flight and then once after the lay over.. On the flight back home we didn't get the best flight attendants so the flight back obviously wasn't as bitchin as the flight there. The attendants didn't even offer me a meal the first time around on the flight back home. It's kinda a 50/50 thing I'm glad i experienced both so I know when I have good flight attendants! Better than American Airlines that's for sure. read more

Be careful when you book flights with China Airlines. They changed my flight time at least 5 times in the 5 months after I bought the tickets. That latest time change created problems for me so I had no choice but to cancel the flight. They refused to refund the full amount. BEWARE! Would never fly with them again. Never had schedule changes like this with EVA. read more

I have been back and forth from LAX -TPE on China Airline twice a year, very happy with their service/efficiency. I became a Gold Card holder because of such frequent-travel on CAL. I would like to share my first experience of Business Class. Checked in at LAX was no sweat at all, in a few minutes I was already in LONG line for security checking. China airline shared/used the lounge of Korean Airline. It's a very crowded lounge (which served many airlines' customers) with limited drinks, snacks, and dry noodles. However, that's not the fault of CAL. On flight, I deeply appreciated the lady named 楊紫欣 who gave me such an attention and service that I was overwhelmed, almost. The meals on flight were so good, I thought that I was in a prestigious restaurant. Reservations and Ticketing - as soon as they answered the phone you know you're talking to people who are very rude. I was inquiring for the refund request due to medical reasons for my parents and they did not even want to listen or transfer you to the right people / department. They outright shut me down and told me to talk to another department. read more

They all try to do a good job. But, sometimes problems arise. Hopefully that won't happen to you. Personally, I've never had any real issues with Delta Airlines First Class. Sure, sometimes the flights are a bit delayed, but they've never been massively delayed or anything like that. That's a good thing. In terms of service, I really recommend that you fly First Class on Delta Airlines. Sure, it's not anything near International First Class. That's a completely different ball game. But, flying domestic first class really gives you a bit of an advantage. First of all, you get to board the plane first. Meaning, you're allowed to get to your seat, put your bag away, and sit back and relax while all the other passengers struggle to find their seat and a place to put their carry-on luggage. In terms of what they offer for food and drink, it's all complementary. Is it great food? No, not really. It's pretty much what can be expected. But, it is a step above economy class, and certainly you don't have to pay for it. This is the same with their drink menu. Anything you want to drink, alcohol included, they provide to you for free. Plus, you do get a considerably larger seat than the ones they offer in economy class. Overall, as with all flights, you just have to be prepared to accept what's going to happen. Certainly, we all want the best experience possible. And, for the most part, Delta Airlines has never let me down. But, you have to be willing to roll with the punches. The best way to do that, I believe, is to fly Delta First Class. It really takes a lot of the edge off the trip, and makes the whole flying experience a whole lot better.

My plane left Los Angeles International (LAX) exactly as scheduled, flight preparations were organized and folks got in line according to their assigned zones. Many of our senior citizens in wheelchairs were allowed first and there were a lot of staff who facilitated the departure protocols. The flight was very smooth with some bumpy ride along the mid-flight but seems comparably similar with any other flights I've taken everywhere. The stewards and stewardesses seemed not so sweet and focused, not the usual, can we offer you something"? I'd say, it's probably cultural although this are just observations on my part, since this time, I bought an economy class ticket during the last minute. Eva Air has the best food compared to other airlines that fly the SEA route, chicken pasta, Chinese-style cooking and a comprehensive fruits and sandwich galore accompanied our meals. The timeline for serving food and snacks was perfect, not so late nor early, just about right. They also seem to recognize our need to sleep and allowed quiet and dark during our flight and bathrooms were also clean and fully packed with everything we needed. One observation is the wide seats and better spacing of their plane compared to other Asian airlines, who pack their seats and seem very tight and skimpy. The stay over transition was alright although they (Eva Airlines transition staff) keep asking for printed tickets in Taiwan when some of us had difficulty activating our phones to show them our online boarding tickets. Since passengers aren't able to access anywhere, they should have a better way of not trying make us feel, we have to painstakingly look for a WiFi access (was too weak for an international airport and inconvenient to those travelers just passing by) to be able to show them our boarding tickets again! Our transfer trip wasn't too bad as we safely landed in Manila on time as scheduled, and smoothly.

The food was excellent with nice glassware and plated beautifully. I liked it so much that I flew them again to Japan despite a longer travel time (they connect through Taipei) rather than paying for mediocre service on an American carrier.
