I knew they took walk-ins, but I called anyway. The employee answered the phone curtly, "Hello?" "Hello? I'd like to make an appointment for a smog check please?" I said. Okay, some constructive criticism/advice, when you're at work and you answer the phone, it is considered customary and professional to answer with the name of the business and your name, at least. A "how can I help you" can be added for an extra touch of customer service. "It's just walk-in" they answered. "Ok, thank you" I replied. Shortly thereafter, I headed down there. I parked in the lot and went inside. On the way inside, I passed a possible employee standing out front smoking a cigarette. Inside, I waited a few minutes at the counter despite no one else waiting. At last, the smoker came back to the counter and proceeded to act like she was being paid to do. She wasn't rude, but not especially warm, and I waited about 20 minutes and was called back to the counter to pay. $60. I said, I have a coupon, can I use it now please? No, it's too late, she said. Of course it is, I thought. I paid full price despite having a coupon. More constructive advice, if you advertise on your website and offer a coupon, you should at least ask, prior to it being "too late", do you have a coupon or other discount? It felt pretty dirty that they made such a big deal of it on the web, and then didn't mention the option of using a coupon, and refused to honor it when I had clearly asked when presented the total. This place has a lot of room for improvement in the customer service department. Hopefully this review will make way for some improvements, because this place is close, and didn't take that long. read more

Quick and easy smog check. Always call ahead to make sure the wait isn't too long. The visit can take anywhere from 20 min to an hour depending on the line. Note that the coupon (available on their website) does not cover a free retest which may be a deal breaker for some. The retest is cheaper than the first test so it's not too bad. A few people in front of me failed their smog check because they hadn't driven their vehicle enough. Make sure to use common sense before going in to avoid wasting time and money. (Not so) Common Sense: - Bring in your DMV paperwork - Make sure your vehicle is in working order (e.g. check engine light is off and you have a working gas cap) - Drive your vehicle for 15 minutes before the test to burn off any impurities in the engine/exhaust (30 minutes if your vehicle hasn't been used in a while, 2 weeks after a disconnected/dead battery) - Don't test on a rainy day because slippery tires will affect your results. read more

Been here twice now. 1st time I had a 1994 GMC Sierra pick up truck that two other places I went to told me they did not have the equipment to smog a vehicle that old. Expect to wait at least 2 hours for a smog check. They tell you 1 hour wait , no updates , 2 and a half hours later you are still there. Unfriendly CS , loud tv playing. Been coming here for years, not the same anymore. Do yourself a favor and find another place . Came here to get a smog because we need to sell out car , I called and the lady at the front desk quoted me 51$ I also got a quote via Yelp and the guy jay quoted me 38$ which is weird because why is it a different price when I called in. This used to be our go to place for a smog, but after our last attempt to have our 97 BMW smogged we will not be returning. First, we got there at 10:30 and they were too busy to do it and just said come back at 1:30 after lunch it's first come, first serve. We were fine with this. Came back at 1:15 a little early until they were back. Now they attempt to tell us they cannot smog anything under a 1999 in the rain (even though it's not raining anymore the ground is just wet). Definitely made to feel our business is no longer wanted here so we get the hint. Just be aware that if you want a smog from this place it may be a whole fiasco to get one. It's disappointing their customer service has headed this way now. read more

Needed a smog for my 2015 Honda Accord to renew my registration. I got on yelp immediately looking for the best recommended places and to get the best quote. Jay reached out in a timely manner and offered me a flat rate of $38!! Definitely could not beat that as everyone else was sending me quotes for $55 and up. I drove from Modesto to Manteca Saturday and arrived around 4:15. I was out of there by 4:35pm-4:40pm! Very quick and easy. My car passed smog and I received a copy of the certificate and they even sent a copy to DMV for me. The receptionist was very sweet! If you want a cheap smog with no hassle, this is the place for you. Very straightforward and they even have a coupon you can purchase here through the yelp app. The only thing is that there are no appointments and because it is such a good value you may have to wait for a bit, but I fully expected this going in so it wasn't a problem. If you're not there early, you'll likely wait a while, but for the value it's not surprising that they have such a long line of customers. All in all I was happy with the price and service. DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS, I WARN YOU!!!! Joe, one of the techs.who does smog tests, was EXTREMELY rude to me. I pulled up to the shop at about 5:45. I saw the bay where you get smog tests performed. This smog technician-Joe, was sitting in a chair towards a big industrial fan and didn't turn around when he heard me pull my car up. I proceeded to go to the bay about three bays down and asked them where I get a smog test done. They told me that it was the area that I was just at. I told them that there's a guy in there but he's sitting with his head turned and he's ignoring me. So I go back to the same bay and I walk to the outside of the bay and say excuse me to this same tech. He proceeds to continue to ignore and keep his back turned to me. I then proceed to get back in my car and blow my horn at him, to try and get his attention. He turned around and looked at me and proceeded to turn around and ignore me again. So I then open my door and attempt to now get his attention a fourth time. He call for him out of my car and he continues to ignore me. I then get out of my car again and proceed to walk into the bay, to get his attention. He finally stands up and tells me that I need to go to the lady at the desk, to make my appointment. I informed him that he should have acknowledged me all of the times I was attempting to get his attention and not ignore me. That he was extremely rude. He then told me, "to go somewhere with that". As I was parking he proceeded to go say something to the lady at the reception desk. When I got inside, I said I wanted a smog test. She asked me if I had my registration and I did. I went to the car to get it, When I came back inside, she told me I would have to come back tomorrow, It was 5:45, there was no reason why I should have been turned away from getting service. Whatever the tech. told her, which I'm assuming was that he didn't want to wait on me, she went with it. This was also wrong on her behalf. The whole situation was very uncalled for and unacceptable. The response from the owner on my Google review is that the review is fake. This speaks volumes to the type of business they do. They have a coupon in the Wednesdays "junk mail" and they totally honored it ( be sure to bring it with you) smog test plus certificate cost me $38 total for a 2013 vehicle which is less than half what I paid last year at Sandhu Smog last year. I went on a Tuesday morning around 10:30 am and there was no wait. I was in and out in 15 mins. The lady at the desk was nice and very fast with processing me.
