I would advise everyone to avoid this hotel! We (2 adults and a child) arrived on a Friday evening at approximately 840pm. We paid their over priced rate of $166 (based on area and amenities) because we were 3hrs from home and it was getting dark. The lobby was clean and inviting. Upon arriving to our room, we couldn't get the key to work. We managed to finally get the 2nd key to work, and figured we'd deal with the non working key later. When we entered the room, the potpourri smell was so intense it was like hitting a wall. We entered believing the smell would tame down after opening the door and windows. After approximately 5 minutes the smell wad so strong it was causing me to gag and choke. We returned to the main office to complain. We were given keys to a different room, across the hall. We moved everything over. This room, albeit better, had a new musty odor. We spent about 5 minutes discussing what to do, because it would be a long drive home. Ultimately we agreed this was not worth $166.×× for the night. We returned with our luggage in hand to the lobby. The very young employee was busy having a personal visit with his friends. We explained that we would not be staying and wanted a refund. The employee stated he didn't know how to do a refund but would call his manager. The manager wasn't answering, but after several minutes the "lady who lives with the manager" called back and told the employee to refuse a refund. According to them, there is a no refunds policy that we agreed to by paying up front for the room. By this point we needed to get back on the road, it was now well after 9pm. We made the decision to leave, even having the employee write up something that stated we did not infact stay at the hotel. Upon leaving the hotel we contacted our credit card company and disputed the charge. They advised us it would be much less hassle if the business would just reverse the charge. We agreed to reach out the next day to see if we could rectify this simply. Unfortunately, All Seasons Resort is so poorly managed that within minutes we knew there would be no professional handling of the situation. The owner of the hotel called us and began calling us names and threatening us. Demanding that we return to the hotel with our drivers licenses before he would refund us. We refused explaining that we had already left the area, and that we had already disputed the credit card charges. The owner was belligerent and aggressive towards us, threatening us, and threatening to "rack up charges" on our credit card. The owner hung up on us. We immediately canceled the credit card, to ensure the owner couldn't cause more trouble. The next day we received another call from the owner. This time he stated that we were hostile and caused a scene in his lobby, and therefore the Kalkaska police had issued warrants for our arrest! He was again, threatening and belligerent. As a business owner myself, I could not imagine what scenario would lead me to act the way the owner of All Seasons Resort did, over this situation. We had to wait 3+ months to be refunded the money All Seasons Resort took from us on that night. In the end Visa sided with us and reimbursed us. This entire situation could have been avoided, but because of this I will go out of my way to ensure no one else have to experience what we have over the last 3 months. My advice: go elsewhere! read more
