Asked Cortlin and explained being a Soldier I need a high and tight. He spent a good deal of time cutting my hair and his attention to detail and focus was amazing. I moved to Torrance over a month ago and have been trying out different barbershops in the area. I haven't left happy with the end results until yesterday Friday after trying out All-Star. I called around 11am to schedule an appointment and sure enough they squeezed me in at 2:30 which was perfect for me. Showed up, easy parking, waited maybe 5 minutes until Cortlin got me started. I'm no barber but I know what a great haircut looks like. Cortlin's blend game is on point! My Line-up, beard trim/line-up was up to my standards. He knew exactly what I needed and he executed my expectations. If you're like me, you dread the idea of having to find a new barber when you've been going to the same one for years but believe me, I checked the work of all the barbers there and they're all great! This shop is very close to my house, the price is reasonable and I got a decent cut on my first visit. Unfortunately I cannot get past the fact thaT this place is really dirty! It's obvious the chairs in the waiting area are not moved when sweeping and there is dust and hair everywhere. While I was there I witnessed one of the barbers finish a client and then just stare at his phone until the next client arrived. His area was not swept and his equipment was not cleaned. Hello Yelpers! It was my first time in this place, and It was the most uncomfortable because I was basically a TEST DUMMY! I called in to get information and set an appointment, one of the dudes was pretty good at setting this up for me. When I arrived there, everyone was busy, I didn't think too much of it. There was a women that greeted me and asked me if I wanted a haircut? SHE WAS REALLY NICE! I replied yes I called for an appointment. I didn't know what else to do, so I waited and she asked me again weather I wanted to get a haircut... I repeated yes, but I made an appointment. I asked one of the dudes if I had to wait for the person i spoke to, he said "whoever man". I told the lady that was there--sure, reluctantly. Then shortly after she begins cutting my hair and I began to feel worried. Yet I thought to myself, well maybe its just me over thinking things. I wish that I was wrong. Turns out that the lady did not really know what she was doing so another barber came by and began correcting her on how to cut my hair IN FRONT OF ME! luckily the dude fixed my hair. However its not what I came in for, unfortunately this was a very awkward experience. If that was not enough they still charged me full price, for a test dummy hmm... what do you think? read more

This is the only place I go for haircuts. I don't have a "go-to" barber and I just walk-in and take the first guy available. Never had a bad cut. The guys pay meticulous attention to detail and never treat you like you are on an assembly line and trying to get you in and out as fast as possible just to churn the seats. They're pretty darn good stylists and I've always loved their work. However, their customer service needs serious improvement. I got in at 3:15pm and three people were ahead of me, six barbers were working. At about 4pm, I was next in line. When I'm next, the two guys that came after me (which seem to be buddies with the barbers) get bumped to first and I'm stuck waiting again. Mind you, one of the guys has a kid and he's also getting a haircut. So that means three people cut in front of me. I just got up and left. I'm annoyed at their unprofessionalism and how they handle business. I've been coming here for over a year to support this local business but as of today, I'm no longer planning on going there. First let me preface: I am a professional, 38yr old male and was in need of a place to get a nice cut. I had previously been going to a Salon where male cuts ran $55 and female cuts were much higher. The ONLY reason I went to the Salon was because my "stylist" was a long time friend from High School. Well, that hook-up went away so I was in search of a new go-to Salon. Allstar was recommended by a friend who lived in the area. Luckily for me, it was on the same street I take home from work. I stopped in yesterday (Thursday) at around 3pm. There was no line and Gabe sat me down. Gabe did a brilliant job on my hair to say the least. He took his time and asked me questions whenever he was unsure of how I wanted a certain area cut. When I think of barbers, I think of buzz cuts for Marines, don't ask me why... I just do. So since I keep my hair long on top and shorter on the sides, I was a bit nervous about my visit. Bottom line: Gabe handled my hair like a Salon pro. As I sat there, I also observed the other barbers giving cuts. They also, all took their time and made sure the customer was happy. My girlfriend was shocked at how well it turned out. $15 for a cut where a high end salon would charge $55 for? Shut up and take my money! He takes his time n knows how to cut to fit your style. This place has a cool vibe. The barbers all seem pretty young and like the name suggests, there's a bunch of sports paraphernalia on the walls and something sports related playing on TV. The waiting area is a bit crammed but the overall shop is a decent size with usually 4-5 customers getting cut at a time. With that said however, the wait can be long if you don't have an appointment ($20) with your favorite barber. Today, I have to retract my 5 stars down to 1. My new review is that I went to see my barber from last time (LTB=Last Time Barber). LTB said he was really busy and suggested one of the new guys. The new guy sucked (big time) and LTB was not busy. LTB was trying to do the new guy a solid... At my expense... I drove all the way there to get my haircut my way and they pull this bro's for life crap? I'm not a commodity that you use in order to prove how such a cool guy you are. Screw that, I'm done with this place. I'll leave the old review, but be warned that it is obsolete and no longer my opinion. Businesses change and, sadly, this one changed. OLD REVIEW: The thing I like about this place is that they really take the time to cut your hair in a perfectionist way. I asked for a haircut and I ended up getting a headcut. In other words, not only did he cut the hair on my scalp, he also trimmed my beard, and gave it all the straight razor finish. All for the price of a haircut ($14). I asked about the potential extra cost for a beard trim ($7) and my barber told me not to worry about it. I think that evidenced that their team takes a nit-pickish pride in their craft. I think it's refreshing to see a business operate in such a manner. Everyone in the shop was great, it was a community feel which was a nice change of pace and a good way to end a day. This review is for all the men at All Star Barbers, especially Gabe. My husband and son have been coming here for years now. Gabe gave my son his first hair cut at 1 years old (when my son was cool, calm and collected) and he did an awesome job. Fast forward to now, seems like my son grew a hair cutting phobia and kicks and screams and acts a fool. Gabe has the patience of a saint and never gets upset or frustrated, but remains calm and understanding of my sons fits. He does an excellent job and doesn't rush his work, but stays patient and finishes to the end. Thank you Gabe for being so patient with my kid. Hopefully he will grow out of this phase soon. My first time coming here. Came in for a faux hawk and that's what I got. They cut hair like artists and turned my haircut into a masterpiece. Affordable, since I've been looking around for a new haircut place to do these cuts. Very male/sport vibe (mens only restroom and basketball memorabilia) the wait can be long because they put a lot of time and effort into haircuts. $20 if you make an appointment or $15 for walk ins. Besides the finding of the place where it was located, i found that this barbershop is quite awesome. The barber that cut my hair today was Ivan. I generally have faith in any barber that cuts my hair because they are a professional for a reason. For those who give bad reviews, I'd advise you don't. My reason for this is that anyone can make mistakes and cutting hair is one of them. The main thing to understand is that your hair will grow back. Sure you'll have to look the way you do for a couple of weeks but so what.. try it again with the same barber and if your results don't change, then you are justified in your review. Anyway... I came in just for a simple fade and slight cut off the top. During the haircut Ivan asks a few questions to gauge whether or not to proceed with certain things such as giving me a line (that thing right next to the comb over.. i think that is what it is called.. dont remember at the moment) and if i wanted a taper. I asked what both were and was able to accurately describe what they were. I said yes and he proceeded. Gotta say I'm very please with my haircut and would come back again. read more

My son and I have been going here since the doors opened. It is a great shop with the best barbers. The haircut can't be beat. Even my nephew comes all the way from Corona to get his hair cut. These guys are the best barbers in the South Bay and have the best prices. Shop is always clean and having DirecTV is always a plus when you have to wait a bit. All Star Barbers just has that nice neighborhood feel that makes you want to come back. My wife took my son to a Supercuts one night because it was late and he had school pictures the next day. I made an appointment, still had to wait 20 minutes after the appointment time but that's okay, to be expected at a busy place. I gave my guy one simple instruction - long on top. We discuss numbers, and I say 7, he says maybe we even do a 10. I say okay, I just want to leave curls on top and make sure that it's long enough. He cuts it (keeps stopping to chat with the others, but again that's okay and sort of expected). It ends up being a 4 or 5. zero curls remain. not sure why it took him so long to do what is basically a slightly longer buzz cut and a typical fade. one single instruction and he couldn't even do that. I still tipped, because I know what it's like to work on the service industry, but dude if you're gonna do a bad job you should at least be faster, cheaper, or prompt. read more
