Jonesboro Location: 2721 Highway 138 East Jonesboro, Ga 30236…read more Looks small when going by but the school is actually bigger in the back. The staff are not approachable at all except the front desk lady, Angie. The owner is never available. She is never there and will never return a phone call in regard to your child or concerns about the staff/ school. Payments are supposed to be collected on Friday's but this school will send multiple emails in one day requesting earlier payments and fees added if unable to pay. My son had over 4 incident reports and out of the 4, I was only informed of two by phone. The other incidents were told upon my arrival. When I spoke about me not being informed and concerns of why he kept getting hurt I was told it wouldn't happen again and their staff are normally good with incident follow up. Unfortunately, twice the staff were not so sufficient. Days after I received a call saying my son had another incident this time saying he wasn't cooperating and "supposedly' kicked a teacher as she helped him get up which was resulting to possible suspension. As a parent you know the things your child will and won't do and he has never kicked before, and he's 2 years old I must add. I felt that all the incidents that took place under their care shouldn't have took place and now they were looking for reasons to dismiss me and my son to be honest. There wrote 2 reports saying the exact same by teacher and a " witness" which i thought was a bit much. Definitely would not recommend until its at a professional level with better staff. PS: Only speaking on what led to me leaving but there is more to tell.

I see it in my kids every day. (ok, almost every day. They're still humans! :)) But they really do learn in a much more varied 'landscape' of people, of cultures, family structures and points of view and they are better for it. Plus they are getting all the tools for great conflict management skills, a key predictor of happiness. And that's the icing on the cake of solid academics. My kids are learning, and most importantly, they are happy and confident, they feel loved and like they "belong" at their school. (They beg me to stay at aftercare to play with their friends!)

However, as a psychologist, I also knew that I wanted a school that had a focus on social-emotional development. I feel so lucky to have found the Friends School for my son. They sincerely practice what they preach. My son has ADHD, and the teachers were exceptional in identifying his needs, using targeted strategies to assist him, and communicating with me about ways to support him. Despite his challenges, they never lost sight of his unique strengths. Now that he is in first grade, he is thriving. And, the beauty of it is, because it's a small school, his current teachers already have some familiarity with him and have been able to give me great feedback about his improvement. The focus on ensuring that kids are well-rounded citizens is also a real asset for FSA. My son is courteous, kind, and socially aware. He talks about helping the homeless, eating healthy foods, and caring for the environment. He gets adequate exercise and sunlight during the school day (which research shows is linked to greater energy and concentration). He is learning conflict management skills, mindfulness, empathy, and how to be a good member of a team. As someone who works with business leaders, I know that these lessons will be invaluable in his life. I once told the headmaster that he radiates warmth. His demeanor is so kind, upbeat, and positive - he never looks like he's going through the motions. I believe that he sets a great tone for the rest of the school. I can't rave enough about FSA. I'm so lucky that we found it!

Our student does not go here. This is a review based on the tour and recruitment process that we…read morefelt we should share with prospective families. After touring SoulShine, a virtual group tour, we were not impressed and felt that prospective families should know about the schools structure before applying. This group of facilities does not operate to the level of a preschool and instead would be better reflected as a nature based daycare. The director who toured us was over the Kirkwood location but we saw photos of all three facilities. The rooms were well furnished but the curriculum in each space was greatly lacking with a student-led approach focusing on centers rather than a structured teaching day. We did not hear about the daily curriculum or milestone tracking for our students development. The tours involvement of curriculum seemed to be focused on what they had in each space (toys, playgrounds, book corner) rather than the learning. We were immediately put off at viewing the Kirkwood location when shown that the infant room opens directly to the outside of the building. While I am sure there are safety precautions in place there is not a way that I could feel comfortable as a parent knowing my newborn could potentially be interacting with strangers that approach the building. We will not be applying to this or any of the SoulShine locations and feel it is a overpriced daycare option and severly lacking preschool option.

Our toddler daughter attended mountain park Academy from July 2020 to April 2021. During the last 4…read moremonths of her stay things became tense. Our daughter would come home crying most days and also started asking for "time out" while at home whenever we tried to redirect her from a behavior. For the amount of money you are paying to send your child here, we expected a kind, respectful environment but that is not what we experienced. Every report sent home had nothing but positives to say about our daughter. At pick up, we would often discuss the naps because she has mostly dropped her nap. Sometimes she would sleep and other times she wouldn't so we knew to put her to bed earlier that night. I followed their schedule on weekends and put her in her room for "nap time" at the same time as daycare but it was really her just playing quietly in her room, reading books in bed or singing. It was suggested that we find a food that would make her sleepy (guess what, there isn't one). Once we received a note saying that our daughter had a "hard time listening" when I asked for clarification I was berated by Harry, with pantomiming of how my kid had a tantrum the day before. I asked to take her home so that she would not cause a problem that day. Harry brought out my daughter along with everything in her cubby, I clarified I was not unenrolling her, just taking her for the day. Extremely unprofessional behavior. Later that week we had a parent teacher conference and we come to find out that our daughter was not napping (we were not surprised by this) but that she was disrupting the other kids in the room, crying loudly and waking the others up by running around the room. We were never informed about the other behaviors but were somehow expected to fix it. We asked for accommodations , can she go to another room, read books, color at a table and they were completely inflexible stating that is when their teachers need to take their breaks, clean and fill out the progress reports. We decided to look for a different daycare in the area and found a more suitable, caring group of folks that genuinely enjoy having our daughter. In the last 4 weeks we have not had any report of bad behaviors and we ask daily if there is anything going on. Our new daycare has flexibility around nap times and seems to be better equipped to accommodate a wide range of children and their individual behaviors
