So I recently just received a car as a gift that I didn't plan on driving. I went to the AAA down the street who advised me that I needed a smog-check to successfully transfer the title in my name. I forgot that it was a requirement to get a smog-check. I've had bad experiences with smog-check appointments in the past and feared it was going to take another week for me to schedule something. I went on trusty Google and found All Star smog check. I walked in on a Thursday afternoon and asked if they were taking walk-ins. The gentleman that conducted my smog check was very friendly and simply asked what type of vehicle I drove and what the quote was. I was in and out of the establishment in about 20 minutes. This place was bomb dot com (do people still say that? did they ever say that?). I called ahead to ask how much a smog check would be. The guy said $45, which is apparently the going rate for smog checks. Man, if you have the money to invest in something, invest in smog check shops. That shit seems profitable! I showed up and there was no wait. The technician was this cool twenty-something dude who took care of me. I sat in the waiting area, which doubles as the employee smoke break area. There are a bunch of leather couches that are cracked from being outside in the elements and a huge ashtray. Don't worry, the waiting area is covered so you won't get sunburned or turn to dust if you're a vampire. The whole area reminds me of something you'd have outside at a college frat, which brought back many a memory of waking hung over as fuck but going outside for a cigarette and coffee because I thought I was a cool guy when all I was doing was giving myself cancer. I brought a magazine because I thought the process would take forever, but that was a mistake. It was over before I knew it, and I passed! The dude who took care of me was SUPER professional despite his casual appearance, which goes to suggest you can't judge a book by its cover. I bet he works for the owner or is related to the owner. Maybe he just works here between classes at school. Either way, I can see him going places. He has a reassuring manner. Competence but caring. It's awesome. I highly recommend this place. Just be aware the $45 is for an online coupon, which I'm not even sure where you get. The guy just gave it to me. Cool, right? I mean I thought $45 was a lot to begin with. Can you imagine if it was more? I'm telling you, open up a smog check place. Maybe one that sells marijuana since that's legal now. I think that would be a pretty decent combination of businesses, don't you? read more

I recently came here for a smog check, everything was great and didn't take that much time. I docked one star because even with the Yelp deal for $24.95, there was a certificate fee which ended up making the smog check an even $35. Overall though it was quick, I was in and out in about 25 minutes and the guy filed my paperwork right away which was good since I had a few days left until I was delinquent. read more

Im not an expert when it comes to cars nor i know how long a smog check takes but after calling 7 different locations to get a price quite they all quoted $50-60! I called this location and he told me he will do it for $30 and i took my car right away there! They guy was very professional, polite and fast in his job! He charged me $30 and checked my car in 5 minutes and i was on my way home! Highly recommend him for your car smog check! read more

Those pesky smog checks you need every other year (for the year of my car anyway) sometimes leave you wondering where you should go. I see plenty of smog stations but they all look like you're not sure you can trust them. I didn't feel that way at all coming here!
