I had been using portable window units that were not only expensive to run, they weren't working- it was 90 degrees inside my apartment at 6 pm at night. Kyle was one of the few people who would give me an estimate range before coming out to check out the property. I had a couple of people out to review the space- Kyle was the only one who measured to make sure everything would fit and even opened up the breaker box to take a look and make sure that everything was good there before giving me a final quote- which was quite a bit less than the others. If you're worried about dirt and dust, these are the kind of guys who put booties on before walking in your home. Since I was installing the unit on behalf of my landlord I wanted to make sure that whomever I hired was going to do a good job at a fair price and felt confident I had the right company. Kyle and Tim arrived a little late to the appointment scheduled because they had to travel to a different store when the van nuys location was sold out of their units- and even ended up with an upgraded unit at no extra charge. They made quick work of the job (about 5 hours in total) and walked me through how to use and maintain the unit as well as show me what they did to the outside. The unit was tested for leaks before they left and - most importantly- my apartment is now 72 degrees rather than 89 at 7 at night. Just in time for a heat wave, I couldn't be more thankful! We wanted a professional to confirm this and check our upstairs vents, which aren't blowing sufficient air. Victor confirmed the capacitor issue, but quoted $400 for the replacement. Knowing the part costs ~$17 on Amazon and is a simple fix, we declined. My husband easily replaced the capacitors for both our upstairs and downstairs units in 30 minutes, and both are running perfectly. What made the experience truly unprofessional was the lack of effort once we declined the repair quote. We asked Victor to take a look at our upstairs vent issue while he was still here, but he refused to investigate further. Paying a $99 diagnostic fee should cover a thorough assessment of our reported concerns, regardless of whether we agreed to an overpriced repair. Instead, he took payment and left. Given their high rating, I expected a much better experience. Refusing to address a customer's secondary concern simply because we declined an inflated price tag is poor customer service. I won't be using Spectrum Heating and Air again, nor can I recommend them. We will be taking our business to another local HVAC provider for our future maintenance needs. VIC IS A GODSEND!!…read more My wife and I have lived in our Pasadena Craftsman for 13 years. Every summer, as soon as the weather turns significantly hotter, the a/c breaks. We must have used four or five different companies to repair the unit over these past 13 years. This summer the unit finally appeared to break for good. A tech from yet another company came out and replaced the compressor, the condenser, the quick starter, and the dryer. After one week, the unit was down again. After three more service calls, we gave up on this guy. Long story short, two more techs came out and the unit broke again last Thursday. Luckily, I then found Vic. Vic explained what was actually wrong with the unit (a comedy of errors - wrong fuses, wrong condenser, wrong quick starter) and repaired the unit in about two hours after he got the right parts. It is doubtful the compressor ever needed to be replaced to begin with. The a/c is now purring like a kitten. If you have a/c problems, please don't make the same mistakes my wife and I did - make Vic your first and only call!! Good luck!

I would not recommend this company based on my experience…read more In 2022, I had an AC issue and called Kaldess for service. The technician told me that my AC had a refrigerant/gas leak and that I needed to add gas. I was charged $800 for the service. About a year later, I had the same issue again and contacted a different AC company. I explained that I had previously been told there was a gas leak and that I needed to add refrigerant. They came out, filled the system, and charged me about half of what Kaldess had charged me. What concerns me is that since that service in 2023, I have never had to add refrigerant again. Based on that, I have serious doubts about whether there was actually a leak in the first place or whether the $800 service was properly performed. If the first technician did add refrigerant, it apparently only lasted a very short time. Paying $800 for a service that did not solve the problem was extremely disappointing. I feel that I was seriously overcharged and would not use this company again. I recommend getting a second opinion before paying a large amount for refrigerant or being told that you have a leak.
