I am very upset about treatment results. The reason I went to Dr Rapoport is because she accepted Medical and had good reviews. She insisted to perform a root canal for a molar tooth and put a crown on it, even though that tooth didn't bother me at all. She didn't like how the root canal looked like on x-rays. She told me that otherwise, if I refused, I will get an infection in the future, and Medical won't approve any other procedures if I don't agree with recommended treatment, so I had to agree. While I was waiting for a crown, she tried to do root canal for an opposite molar tooth and perforated it, she referred me to endodontist with a bleeding, and he said that there's no way to save this tooth after perforation she did. He called her on the phone during my visit and asked her what was she doing with my tooth and she played dumb like she had nothing to do with that. A few days later I had to get this tooth extracted ASAP by Dr. Rapport because of developing abscess and fever. I had to get an implant instead of this tooth. A new crown for the first tooth was ready and had an ugly shape, too big and there was a gap between a crown and a gum. After a few months I got an abscess on a gum under this crown. I had to go to another dentist for treatment, and he said that crown was higher than it has to be, it has to be replaced. Also while I was waiting for a crown I've got one more painful tooth, Dr Rapoport performed a root canal, crown for that tooth was good, but it was still sensitive to hot and cold. I told her, but she couldn't do anything. Later I got an abscess under that crown too. Another dentist looked at X-ray and said that gutta percha has been exceeded the tip of the root and it caused sensitivity, and she could've done it better, the root canal needs to be redone with a crown replacement. All the dr. Rapoport treatment was free for me (approved by Medical), but I had to spend thousands of dollars to fix all the work she'd done wrong, because medical didn't approve another redoing root canal, new crowns and implant. Also she did a few fillings for my husband, and his teeth got sensitive after that, so he had to get the fillings replaced by another dentist. Dr. Rapoport and the guy on the front desk are super nice, but I won't visit her again, I'm very upset and disappointed about treatment results, though I completely trusted her. There are only two doctors I have to trust 100% as I can't watch them as they work on me: Dentist and OBGYN. After having treatment at Dr Rapoport's office, I have found that dentist and am referring her to my friends. In Dr Rapoport I found a quality dentist who didn't try to up-sell me unneeded work during a crisis. A dentist who was so concerned about a person with pain in jaw she kept calling until she reached me. And then brought me in as an emergency the same day. During the Covid-19 Los Angeles Stay at Home order in March/April 2020 I cracked my back molar. I reached out to a dentist on my coverage (most dentists were shut down as they didn't have PPE setup (Personal Protective Equipment). I walked in and found he didn't use any safety PPE and tried to scare me to pay $3k for services not covered. Blaming not doing that work on my husband I left with a prescription and an x-ray of the cracked tooth. About a week later I got a call from Rapoport's office (I had reached out to her previously but didn't return her same day call back). She was worried that I still had the cracked tooth and she would be in for the day, to please come in at 1pm. I walked in and found all her staff in full PPE mode. Then she took an x-ray of the tooth, said the tooth had to go (I expected that) and that once the Stay at Home was over I was to come back for full cleaning and x-rays, all of which is covered under my insurance. She was scheduling one patient per hour so there would be only one person in the waiting room at a time, plus there's an indoor courtyard with more chairs spaced apart for anyone else waiting. So as I left (with instructions, prescription, and more sealed gauze) I saw the next patient in the waiting room, and their family/friend sitting in the courtyard. read more

NO! NO! NO! I was happy with Dr. Alla until she supposedly did a procedure that she should not do and should have referral me to oral surgeon. Alla removed a wisdom tooth that got complicated and stuck in the middle leaving some of the route inside. Before she started the procedure I asked her if she can perform that procedure and she said "in 5 minutes". During the procedure as well I asked several times if it's coming out and if she can do it and she said yes repeatedly. When she realized she cannot finish the job she talked to her oral surgeon "friend" who told her we can leave it like that. I'm 2 weeks after still in pain, left her a voice message a week ago, never heard back from her. I am super disappointed! A Dr. Should not take on themselves to perform a procedure that is not in their territory. read more

I would like to share my amazing experience of laser treatment to my lip scar performed by Dr. Rappaport. I had residual scar inside my lower lip left after mucocele excision . Kept biting on the scar accidentally and ended up with a chronic wound in my lip. That's when Dr. Rappaport offered laser treatment. The scar shrunk just after one treatment. This procedure is also done for cold soars and other disorders of mucus membranes. I am looking forward to my next treatment. Usually it is done in series of 3. Yeah, she's 5 stars. It's not because she has the nicest office in the world or the coolest technologies. It's because she has a kind and personable staff (shout out to Nina and Katrina). And because Dr. Alla is extraordinarily kind as well. And very skilled--my filling was done expertly, and the cleaning was thorough. And thoughtful--she routinely asked me if I was feeling pain during the cleaning. And honest--she didn't advise me to extract my wisdom teeth even though she'd make some money off it. Some caveats: If you're wondering why she has hundreds of reviews on Doctor.com, it's because she asks patients to review her at a kiosk at the end of their appointments. No one looked at my screen while I was filling it out though, and I wasn't compensated for the review. Also, she advocates for "Healthy Start" (Ortho Train) alternative to braces, and overhypes the benefits I think, particularly by saying it could help with ADHD. The evidence for that seems pretty shoddy and that specific claim is a bit misleading. read more

Dr. Rappoport is an excellent, exceptionally caring dentist. She and her staff are warm, helpful and professional to the highest degree. Her office is very modern and efficient. She is a wonderful discovery. Since I wrote this initial review I have had much more elaborate dental work done in Dr. Rappaport's office, including two implants which were complicated for various reason. I have had an implant before, but with Dr. Rappaport the process was much less stressful, despite the unusual circumstances (soft bone tissue, proximity to my sinuses, etc.). Perhaps most important is that Dr. Rappaport has a way of working with Medicare to pay for dental implants, Given that fact that implants tend to be expensive, this is enormously helpful, and has encouraged me to have much needed dental work done which I have been putting off. read more

My experience with the office was not that great. They told me that the prescription was sent to the pharmacy. However, when I went there, the prescription had not arrived. I circled back next day, and they again asked me to go to the Pharmacy only to find out that the prescription had still not arrived. I saw Dr. Alla today for he first time. Fired my Dentist for not handling my bleeding gums properly. Saw a Periodontist that helped me greatly. I have moved around the country and been to a lot of different Dentists and my father was an Orthodontist. Dr. Alla spent a lot of time with me and really listened to what I have been through with the prior Dentist. She is kind, compassionate and really cares. That matters to me. She gave me more options to help improve the health of my gums and teeth. As someone who suffers from that all too common fear of dentists, I must say that Dr. Rapoport is the one dentist who doesn't have me shaking in my seat while I wait to be seen. She has an approachable and comforting nature that won my trust within minutes of my first visit. She takes her time explaining what issues are at hand and what solutions are available, and never rushes with her work. I have always dealt with frequent cavities, but since I began seeing Dr. Rapoport, I've had less and less problems due to her patience, thoroughness, and precision. I had a really great experience with Dr. Rapoport today. I had an older filling that came out on a bottom back molar and she was able to get me in, take an X-ray, and fix it right away. I felt comfortable with her work and her expertise during my visit. Her office was very nice/clean, her staff was superb, and she was really affordable. Some time ago my wife was having this problem with a cavity in one of her molars, it was filled long time ago and never gave her a problem, until recently other provider (Not Dr Rapoport) told her after evaluated the x-rays in her annual check up that the filling needed to be replaced, even that she was not feeling any pain, she agreed to do it since she trusted the opinion of the specialist, and making long story short, something went wrong and she ended needing a root canal. We went to Dr Rapoport for the root canal and what a disappointing experience we had, we went to this provider because her 5 star reviews on yelp but seems like those were left by friends or family because this is not a five stars clinic. First during the procedure my wife noticed that she was "sterilizing" some instruments used prior with alcohol while doing the root canal, she told her about it and she just said that: "alcohol kill everything" that was the first red flag, she let her continue working on her mouth but was really uncomfortable with the cleanliness of the instruments. Second, she never followed up to finish the job with the crown that usually goes after a root canal and due to changes on the insurance we had during that time and also concerns about the sterilization of the instruments in the clinic, we never went back to do it with her. Some time later we look for another provider with our new insurance in order to do the crown, by that time she already started to filling pain in the molar and when x-rays were done an infection was detected, in top of that the root canal was not done right!, while one of the roots got the medicine they put to kill the nerve all the way down the canal, the other side never got it and that caused the infection; also Dr Rapoport left a file (instrument used for the root canal procedure) broken inside her tooth and not only she didn't tried to recover it and make it right but she never disclosed with my wife what happened. Dr Rapoport just filled the cavity and told my wife everything was ok when she left the broken file inside her tooth and half of the tooth untreated. Our new dentist told her that nothing can be done to repair the root canal and the only solution was an extraction. She definitely didn't want to go that way and she was told to see a root canal specialist (see my other review); this specialist saw the x-rays and said that was a really bad work and that just give my wife 20% of chances to keep the tooth if she agree to tries to repair the root canal. That means remove the filling, extract the broken file and clean the untreated root. She agrees to take those chances and this specialist pulled the miracle to recover the file from her tooth and do the root canal properly. This is an honest review of our experience with Dr Rapoport, she put my wife under a lot of stress thinking she could have contracted a STD or other disease because the "sterilization" practices of this clinic and also time/money lost because further visits to specialists in order to repair her work. We don't really care about money at this point since the insurance paid her for what she did but is more about the integrity of this provider not being honest with us about what happened during the procedure and haven't taken any corrective measures to fix what was done wrong. read more

I was TERRIFIED of the dentist. I have dreaded a visit for months before getting up the nerve to actually go. This usually leads to far worse dental experiences than necessary, due to my delays. She is attentive to my emotional well-being: explaining everything she's doing (including the level of potential discomfort and amount of time any procedure will take), constantly checking in on me to make sure I'm okay during the procedure, and following up with a call to see how I am recovering; while providing excellent care for my teeth and gums (I feel and see a marked improvement in my gums). She is enthusiastic about new technologies and techniques, using innovative equipment like lasers, and also advocates a more holistic approach to caring for yourself including checking your pH balance and recommending natural products and diet modifications to best ensure the health of your mouth and the rest of your body. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Alla Rapoport and her staff. I've had nothing but great experiences with her practice. The first time I saw Dr. Rapoport, I was 7 1/2 months pregnant with my daughter and due to some side effects of being in that condition, my not so great dental history in general, and the poor previous dental work of another dentist i went to years ago, I needed immediate extraction of a tooth. She checked with my OB to ensure the safety of my baby and also be able to help me with the unbearable pain I was in. She and her staff were all attentive and treated me with care and kindness, during and after, the appointment. They even called the next day to check in on me and make sure I was doing alright. Since then, she's been my go to dentist and unfortunately, I have a great deal of dental issues so I've seen her quite a bit since then but fortunately, with Dr. Rapoport and her staff, every experience has been pleasant. The practice has always maintained a consistently kind, caring, and attentive environment all-around. I've been through everything from a cleaning & check up all the way to fillings, root canals, and tooth extractions with them and I've never felt uncomfortable or unattended to. It always make me feel better to know what's going on and I feel informed every step of the way. Insurance or documentation related matters are always explained at the visit and during the dental exams themselves, Dr. Rapoport describes what she is doing and what it's for. I hate when you're just lying there with no idea of what's going on or what to expect like with some other doctors. With her informative, affable approach, I feel like I'm not in it alone and am being walked through the experience. The office is always quick to answer calls and respond to any concerns. They have always been able to accommodate emergency situations and also offer great availability with their regular appointments. I just had another emergency appointment this morning and I feel infinitely better already even though it's just the beginning of another tough road with this tooth. I became Dr. Rapoport's client over two years ago. Now I go there regularly for laser gum treatment and deep cleaning, along with other dental services. I always leave satisfied with this Dr. Rapoport's work. I see a significant improvement in my gums. Laser treatment really helps.
