Allard was my favorite meal in Paris. We came for lunch and had a the fixed price, plus an order of frog legs. So it was very affordable for such a nice spot. I'll preface by saying I don't eat frog legs in the US like...ever. But dang, Allard's frog legs were the BEST. Just absolutely perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented. Allard started us with a cucumber salad amuse bouche that was really yummy. Then I had a skate wing entree and it was the most tender skate wing I've ever had. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was outstanding - rich and creamy, but broken up with little crispy cacao bits. I am so glad we stopped in to experience this classic, delicious spot. read more

Was here for dinner in early Oct of 2025 with a friend. We had a lovely dinner. The managers and servers were very nice. The snails and salads were delicious. I thought my fish was okay maybe even a little dry but my friend said her steak au poivre was the best she's ever had. Her fruit dessert was delish but I let them pour TOO much rum on my cake. We tried to get back to it another night to try the duck but didn't have time. It's a small dining room a little crowded but not without its charm. It has a Michelin star from 2020. Allard is a perfect classic French bistro spot with intimate dining room: dark wood paneling, red leather banquette, tobacco-stained walls, and floral-printed wallpaper make every tête-à-tête look like a scene in a classic french movie. Come here for a flawless preparation of all the french classics! Think dover sole à la meunière, whole duck for 2, a perfectly prepared steak frites! Frogs' legs we had was to die for! The butter sauce for the rice is divine! We had an amazing lunch here and would come back to check out their dinner service! And yes the service is top notch, attentive but not up tight. You want traditional French country cuisine? If you do, this place is for you. This is a very traditional French restaurant in heart of St German-des-Pres. This restaurant was founded in 1932 and when you walk in you feel like walked back in time...truly amazing ambience. Alan Ducasse took this over in 2013 and he did absolutely nothing...which was a brilliant move. It has the Ducasse stamp of approval but the dishes are all French traditional. These dishes and recipes harken to the days of old Paris and two dishes to me, really stood out. The frog legs in butter and herbs were outstanding and the Challans duck with olives was perfectly balanced and an exquisite way to center the meal. Finish with the profiteroles...and great expresso. When you are finished, you have just had the best meal and experience in Paris that demands you pay homage to the history and all those who were there before you. Absolutely classic and wonderful meal. We brought a larger group (7 people), which is never easy to book or accommodate in Paris. We brought several children as well. The staff were gracious and set up a semi-private space for us to enjoy lunch. They were engaging with the children, and were patient with our party. We sampled a variety of traditional dishes - escargot, roast chicken, lamb chop, roast vegetables. Everything was prepared extremely well, and easily the best meal we had in Paris. The bread and butter was plentiful. They recommended a nice white wine to complement the meal and refresh us on one of the hottest days of the summer. Our server gave a great wine recommendation and we ordered the escargot, seared mushrooms, and the duck with olives for 2. The escargot was decent and the seared mushrooms were tasty. However, the duck and olives was a let down. The duck seems like it was suppose to be confit but it was very overcooked and dry. My group was looking forward to eating here. Two of my group had been here before under previous ownership and remembered having a lovely time. The place could only seat us late. Even late, we were made to wait outside for quite a while. I found the service unprofessional. Both the appetizers and main courses came together. The wine glasses were removed before the wine was even finished. It turned into a big deal to get more glasses for all that wanted more wine. The final annoying straw was dealing with the bill. In France service is included in the price. The machine still has a place for service and the waiter hung over us saying repeatedly I hope you liked the service. Tip is at your discretion. A very Parisian evening... You know when Alain Ducasse puts his name to a restaurant it is going to be good and thankfully Allard did not disappoint. This turned out to be one of the best dinners in Paris and that is saying a lot as I went to some good places. On the Left Bank where Saint Germain meets the Latin Quarter this restaurant has a front room and a back room, I was happily in the relaxed back dining room. There is something charming and reliably French about the decor, red velvet banquets against country floral wallpaper made for a stylish and inviting feel. And serving the champagne in vintage style coupes was delightful and set a nice touch for the dinner to come. But I am here for the food, and Allard delivered. The menu is French classics given a bit of an update so while completely satisfying familiar cuisine, it also is not exacly the same as the usual bistro which makes for something exciting. The menu is not too big and seasonal and the friendly service was happy to explain anything. I loved the Cod that was served in a foam with beans and crunchy chunks of bacon. It was simply amazing. I started with the foie gras and ended with their cooked figs with yogurt ice cream which was the perfect note to finish on. I can't recommend this place enough. The service was atrocious. I have been to Michelin restaurants and World's Best around the world and never found service so shameful. I was seated, no one came to my table (e.g., with a welcome, a menu/carte, drink request) and suddenly a kitchen attendee appeared and dumped 2 amuse bouche on the table, and walked away - and then seemed surprised when I asked why he was giving me these when I hadn't even been seen by a server. When I spoke to the waiters and manager, no one seemed to care. If this ever was a charming restaurant, it certainly is no longer (and FYI the amuse bouche was a gougere concoction that looked hard and unappetizing- I had seen when I walked by a kitchen a bowl of them sitting under a red light - you want gougeres light and fresh out of the oven, not made hours ago). If I could give Allard minus stars, I would. My husband and I have eaten there many times, but the last time we ate at Allard we both got horrible food poisoning that lasted for a week. When we called and talked to the manager of Allard, he dismissed our allegation, claiming no one else had gotten sick the night we ate there. We KNEW it was something we ate at Allard because we had not eaten together or any of the same foods for 3 days before due to business obligations. The sad part of this was that it was a celebratory dinner for our 30th anniversary, and our children had called Allard earlier that day to pay for our meals as an anniversary present. We dined at Allard for dinner our last evening in Paris and I really wish we had enjoyed it more. We had a 930p booking and were quickly led to our table, in the warm and cozy bistro. Unfortunately, they didn't have the first two items I wanted and now I was onto my third selection. Never a great way to start your last meal in Paris. We shared the duck foie gras and honestly I've had so much better I felt it was an item that can definitely be skipped for the price, although a a very hearty portion which again I'm not used to when having foie gras. I had a fish dish that didn't do a thing for me, that I'd definitely say skip as well. It wasn't the cod, as that was my second choice that they did not have after not having the classic Thursday evening dinner I'd looked forward to. My boyfriend had the steak and wasn't impressed at all. We then decided to share a dessert, which is really unlike us if we haven't enjoyed the meal at all and I didn't care for the rum sponge cake at all either. Really the only thing I did enjoy was my glass of Bordeaux which was very nice. Based on our experience I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't want to return. So first let's do the positive things which was the service. I've seen some reviews that really complain about the service but we actually had really good service. What I did not like was that the food was quite ordinary and ridiculously expensive. I had the duck with olives which was good, but just super plain for the €48 per head. €25 for a soft-boiled egg also seems ridiculous. A Coke was €8, again way over the top. This was an excellent meal--Alain Ducasse again did not let me down. Well maybe a little--after all, the pâté en croute entrée was finished by the time of the first dinner seating. But I suppose that only speaks to the excellence of the food here. However, with that small detail aside, the meal was excellent. The cheesy puffs were just as I remembered, the butter came off of a giant slab, and each dish was elegantly presented and delicious. To start I had a goat cheese and tomato salad, which was delicious and refreshing on a 90 degree Paris day. For my plat, I split the duck and olives with my uncle. While I had never had duck before, and I'm not a huge fan of green olives, this dish surpassed my expectations--and I wish I had been able to eat even more. Finally, for dessert, I had an apricot and pistachio thing--truly unsure what it was called, but a unique and yummy combination. Terrible. Clearly catering to tourists with a low standard for French cuisine. Unfortunately there was no good service either to make up for the bland, poorly cooked food. Alain Ducasse should be ashamed to have his name associated with this restaurant. We ordered the escargot, duck for two, and a couple of small items. The escargot was okay at best, lacked any complex butter and garlic flavors (have had far better in the US) and the duck had absolutely no flavor and was completely undercooked in some parts, overcooked in others. It was also not properly carved, with many gamey, unappetizing pieces which needed to be set aside on a separate plate. The bread was served by the waiter piece by piece (when one *very small* piece was finished, we needed to ask for another) as if we were on some kind of ration and we also had to ask for butter, as it did not come with the bread apparently. What kind of French restaurant in Paris (or anywhere, for that matter) gives such a small amount of bread? Every other French restaurant in the world I have been to provides plentiful bread and butter. Ridiculous and makes patrons feel unwelcomed. The worst thing was when we got our bill, there was a separate charge for the potatoes. When we had ordered the duck for two, the waiter asked if we would like with that the potatoes or the vegetables, clearly suggesting that we had the option of choosing either of these served with the duck (seemingly included in the price, not a separate charge). After reading other reviews and based on my experience, I think the waiter knew what he was doing and it was a small scam for us to pay an extra ~ €10. The only reason I didn't argue further was because the side of potatoes were the only dish that was even slightly appealing! Overall terrible and a waste of money. Left the restaurant wishing I had not just wasted €160 for a disappointing meal, but glad I had not spent more. Perhaps this restaurant was once very good, but has clearly gone downhill. Our 10th visit to Paris. First time here. Very old restaurant with supposedly great food. Had the famous duck. Ordered it medium rare and some of it was so undercooked it wasn't edible. My wife & I were greeted nicely even though we were 10 minutes late for our 12:30 reservation. Great place to go for a classic 3 course prix fixe lunch. The prix fixe lunch menu had two offerings in each of the entree, plat, dessert course so we ordered one of everything! These guys take their bread and butter to a new level. The large mound of butter - I'm talking bigger than my head - is left under a glass dome on a cart in the dining room area. The house made butter is then freshly carved and served with bread for each table. I wish I had taken a picture of it. The food here is classic French, traditional in the cookery and presentation. The sea bream crudo with kumquat was definitely the best dish of the meal. The fish was fresh and the kumquat was a new & delicious pairing that I haven't tried before. We also both really enjoyed the potato dauphinois that was served with the duck breast, it out-shone the protein on the plate. Each slice of potato was cooked to perfection, it was melt in your mouth buttery goodness! The asparagus salad entree and Scottish salmon plat were good dishes too, but I think they could've been great with a bit more sauce or a little more salt. For dessert we had chocolate mousse & creme caramel. The mousse was standard, but I expected a much better creme caramel for a restaurant of this caliber (and price). The custard was dense and not smooth. Service was great, but they seemed to have the less experienced crew working lunch. There were some awkwardness, like one server who kept giving us bread even though we said "no". But the staff were very genuine in their efforts to please diners. Would I come back for dinner at full price? Maybe. But, I would recommend the prix fixe lunch to anyone wanting to try a multi-course meal at an upscale, traditional Parisienne restaurant. After spending 10 days in Paris, and eating at all kinds of restaurants for lunch and dinner, my meal at Allard stood out as either the best, or the second best, of the entire trip. 4 of us went for lunch, 3 ordering the $34 3-course lunch menu, including starter, main course, and dessert. Considering the quality of the food and service we received, in hindsight this was a phenomenal deal. For my starter, I had the 6 snails, served in a wonderfully rich buttery, garlic, parsley sauce. They even brought out little utensils specifically for removing the meat from the shell, which was a nice touch. For my main, I order the fish, which was a seared filet of Haddock, served with seated white asparagus on the side. The fish was cooked to perfection: light, moist and soft, with a slight crust on the outside. I also got a chance to taste the other main that my father ordered, the pork belly with sweet potato puree. While the pork belly was very nice, the sweet potato puree blew me away. It was so creamy and rich with flavor. For dessert, I had the rhubard, which was basically a rhubard creme brulee, which was delicious. Finally, the service was spot on. While the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable and the menu that of traditional French Cuisine, the food was bland and apologetic. The chicken, which happens to be the star dish, lacked salt and didn't have the an expected crisp. The croquettes were mush and tasted like they were boiled in butter. However, the curled endive salad stood out with its delicious chunks of bacon, which was by far the best thing we ate. The wine list is very impressive but the sommelier was inattentive and seemed to only focus on customers with expensive bottles of wine. All in all, not worth the visit for the price. My favorite meal in Paris. The food, service, and ambiance exceeded expectations. For a decidedly upscale experience, the price was not bad at all (strong dollar helps). I split the duck with olives with my girlfriend. They have a small, simple menu, so it's clear that all the kinks have been worked out. The duck was perfect, nothing more to say. I generally don't comment on service. However, I was blown away at Allard. The waitstaff clearly takes pride in their work and it shows. From what I've seen, only Americans use Yelp. Allard caters well to American tourists with its menu in English. However, maybe I'm just oblivious but unlike other establishments in the city, not once did it feel "touristy." My wife and I first went to Allard twenty years ago - and I remember the Bresse chicken from that visit as the best bird on the planet. I was excited to see them recognized on the Michelin app - so was ready to book, as it seemed the standards had been upheld. We went back with our two now daughters and the chicken wasn't even close - it was dry (gasp!). They put us in the back dining room along with all the other dumb Americans - some were wearing shorts, others had blue hair and tackle boxes in their respective faces. Wasn't appetizing, but can't blame the restaurant for that. The escargot were well prepared - no surprises there, as was..... can't remember. And it was last night. Otherwise, there are plentiful options in St Germain blocks in every direction that would have served a better meal at a much better price point.
