I had an ice maker that stopped working and à washer lock that was broken. I contacted Allen Appliance to schedule the repairs. Andy promptly responded to the message that I left. We messaged back and forth. I sent him pictures of what needed repaired and the model numbers of the appliances. We were able to set a time a couple of days later that fit both of our schedules. Andy arrived during the time window set. He wore shoe covers so he would not track dirt into my house. He went straight to work. In roughly 30 minutes he was done. He presented me with a bill. He was charging me $149 per appliance for his labor or $298. The prices for the parts were at least double what I found for similar new parts, Andy was polite, professional and did good work but I can't justify paying this much for appliance repairs again. read more

My GE built in had a blown compressor motherboard. I think it was because of the outage we had, and when the power came on, it blew the board. Found the problem late Friday, and started texting folks recommended to me via Facebook. Andy pinged me early Saturday morning. He said he could be here that day. Time comes, and he's here on time. We have used Allen appliance three times now and you should stop searching now and just call him. This last visit was for a wolf range. My wife thought you needed a "wolf" tech so she used another company. Big mistake. Dude shows up, barely speaks English (some Eastern European language), looks at the range like he was seeing one for the first time, and immediately gets on the phone with someone, ostensibly for guidance, but in the same language I can't understand. He does his thing, tentatively, and says it's the control board, (needs to be ordered), and will be almost 1k to fix. I look at the invoice which includes control board and 2 "diodes". I get online cuz now I figure I'm doing it myself, and there are no "diodes" in this range. (300$ for the diodes). I remember my wife mentioned Andy, i call him, he answers the phone immediately, shows up the same day, says the "diodes" are a scam. Orders the part and fixes it perfectly for 600. Look no further. Andy helped us out in 2021 when he diagnosed that our fridge was a dying quail and needed to be put out of its misery (a.k.a. not worth sinking more money into). As I recall it was a condenser issue. Andy seems like a nice guy and does a good job I'm sure. I honestly just felt like I was bothering him when we needed help. Our fridge basically died and just had gone to Costco for food the day before. *We have 3 little ones (milk and other infant products). So this was an urgent issue for us. Andy agreed to come out the day after which I greatly appreciated. He showed up in the time frame he stated he would. But, First thing he says when he shows up is "your wife was blowing up my phone about this". (My wife never texted him, it was me). I was somewhat dumbfounded he said this (who cares if a customer was blowing up the phone. Which I feel we weren't as his voicemail clearly stated to text what's going on, model # and to text any photos. Which I did all 3). None the less, he checks our fridge, unscrews the back, feels around and in about 3 minutes he says 'this fridge is done'. That was basically it. So, I then say what do I owe you. And he's says '$89'. Instead of arguing about it. I just paid him cash (which he only had a $20 so he actually made $90, and never said thanks'. It's my bad for not checking what his diagnostic fee was. But $90 for 5 minutes of looking at something? Inflation I guess. I think I was more annoyed because I actually got some other quotes and the average diagnostic checks were in the range of $45-65. Not one out of 8 quotes I received back was $89. Again, personally, Andy seems like an ok guy. It's not personal here. I just wasn't a fan of the comment about my wife and the $89 fee for basically confirming what I felt was the issue. Not his bad, but mine for needing emergency work and rushing things. read more

Ok, I'm going to get all technical here, so put your techy caps on......recently my dryer started making a squealing noise, and beings that it's fairly new I figured it's repairable rather than replaceable.
