Wow! I cannot say enough good things about Action Appliance Repair and the technician Mark. My French door refrigerator with interior water dispenser and ice maker decided to stop dispensing water and was no longer making ice, but the more problematic issues were the lack of maintaining the programmed set refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Of course my concerns were risks of water lines, electronic, or compressor failures. Setting an appointment by phone with Lisa was super easy. When Mark arrived, he was prepared to do a full evaluation of the refrigerator. I was prepared to hear the news that I needed a new refrigerator or that any repair costs would be almost as expensive. Well, let me tell you that Mark suggested only a minor adjustment to one of the internal refrigerator components, then giving that a few days of my monitoring the internal temperatures to see if that adjustment worked to maintain the temps within a range and to call the company with the results. That adjustment worked, which indicated to Mark that the problem was with the damper in the refrigerator. When Mark returned a week later, he had the new damper which he installed. The problem with the water dispenser was solved by installing a new filter. While he was there, I had him remove the ice maker which I rarely used anyway (giving me more room in the freezer). I share all this detail because unlike so many businesses, Action Appliance Repair is scrupulously honest, and never once tried to upsell me on anything unnecessary. This is by far the best appliance repair company I have ever worked with. Mark Jr. was very thorough and professional. I had called another company who charged me a service call fee to come out and diagnose the problem with my dryer. They never opened my machine or tested any components. They said it was the main board and left after five minutes. The main board was replaced and the machine still did not work. Action came out and actually spent time to test and confirm exactly what the problem was. They returned another day with a new motor and replaced it quickly and it worked! Mark Jr. was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what he was doing but took the time to verify and do it right the first time. I feel super lucky that I live in Lake Forest because it means I have access to the best appliance repair company in the universe! We've used Action Appliance Repair twice now--once about a decade ago to repair our refrigerator and once last week to repair our dryer. Both times, the repairs were done quickly, professionally, and for a very reasonable price. Our fridge is still running perfectly 10 years later, and our dryer is producing heat again and no longer making weird noises when turning. Mark and Mark Jr. are both super friendly, helpful, and courteous. In fact, courteous is an understatement. They are also incredibly knowledgeable and share wonderfully practical tips on how to properly use clothes washers & dryers as well as dishwashers. These guys are miracle workers! They came out in January this year because our refrigerator door wasn't closing properly and getting worse by the day. They totally could have sold me a new door along with an additional service fee to replace it but they were so honest and real. They said it wasn't worth it for me to put on a new door because it would be way too expensive, and that I would be better off putting that money into a new fridge. Instead, they worked their magic and did what they could to address the broken door with some glue and some TLC with the intention of holding it in place until we could get to the store to buy a new one. It's now October and the door hasn't given us another issue since! It seriously works better than it ever did. These guys are Top Notch! First my ice maker stopped dropping ice, then the ice was melting out of the ice compartment in the door and then finally the freezer stopped holding temp. I saw the writing on the wall, but hoped it was just a bad defrost heater (no such luck). Action came out the same day to diagnose the fridge, they pulled the panels off in front of the coils, showed my wife how that it was barely getting cold and it was only a matter of time (hours to days) before the refrigerator compartment also stopped keeping temp because the compressor was shot. He admitted that it would cost more for them to fix it, instead of buying a new refer, so just better to replace. The tech didn't try to upcharge us, he didn't give a song and dance or anything else other than an honest recommendation. Our fridge is a Kenmore, so I figured we were in good shape because the LGs have been known to have their compressors die within 5-7 years. Unfortunately, he shared that our Kenmore was built by LG and the LG compressor is exactly the thing that died. He said that the new LGs are better after they were sued for their faulty compressors and they now make sure they don't fail like the old ones. Personally, I wouldn't give my money back to them for another unit though, since they knowingly sold faulty refrigerators for years, because you would just be buying another from them in 5-7. He also said to STAY AWAY from the Samsungs because those are riddled with problems. Lastly, he gave us information on a place that sells scratch and dent units in Santa Ana to save money on a replacement. We decided to just go new with an extended warranty from Home Depot and chose a Fridgidaire to stay away from LG and Samsung all together. Let's hope this one lasts longer than 6 years this time. read more

I tried all of the online suggestions - unplugging, new filter, flushing the system etc. Still no ice. I posted on Nextdoor and a neighbor quickly responded to my issue Our refrigerator water dispenser was coming out VERY slow and the ice maker was making ice half the size I called Action Applicance Repair and Mark quickly answered I told him the issue and he said I'm going to save you some time and money...he said when we hang up do two things...move the fridge an inch or two out and make sure the water line isn't kinked...if it's not kinked turn the water valve off and then on again...I didn't have to do step two...simply moved the fridge and the kink was gone...water pressure was back...I called back this time Sue and answered and I thanked her and told her to tell Mark thank you...I promised that I'd call them first if and when we have our next appliance issue! read more

Mark Jr. continues the family business after his father (founder of Action Appliance) decided to retire. With that length of working with applicance of various ages and brands, I can be assured that he knows the machines. For example, he knew that my diswasher, KitchenAid, has a garbage disposal built in so no need to clean (or look for) a screen that collects food waste. He also told me that I was wasting water by rinsing dishes because today's soap is designed to cut grease, and if I rinsed the grease, the soap would have "nothing" to work on and just stick to glasses creating a smokey film. The cost of the repair was more than fair, but it also included saving water tips. Action Appliance was referred by a plumbing (Severson) company so I felt assured Action would. give me good service. What made it so exceptional was that he found the issue and then advised us on how we might get it fixed free by the manufacturer (despite being a few months out of warranty) since it was a common problem the manufacturer was well aware of. They installed a new igniter in our older, wall-mounted oven-broiler a while back . It has never worked better... even when it was installed 27 years ago. Keep in mind how grateful we must be since we would have to remodel our kitchen again to accommodate something new. This week they repaired the drain issue in our LG fridge that's now 14 years old We surely didn't want to have to replace that since it's likely better than anything we could find in the marketplace today (you know what we mean!). The rubber seal on our front-loading washer was not draining properly so we contacted Action Appliance Repair based on their good reviews on Yelp. Mark Jr. came out a few days later and was incredibly helpful. He showed me how to pull the seal back in order to clean it more easily, and explained very thoroughly how the discoloration in my seal was not mold but an overuse of soap, and that the main problem I was having was using too much soap in the washer. I had no idea! He was very friendly and filled with good advice, and while he expressed that we should get another 5-6 years out of our washer, if it causes me any more troubles I will definitely contact Action Appliance Repair again. read more
