I would not recommend working with Darcie. We trusted her to properly vet tenants for my parents' rental property, but the experience has been extremely disappointing. The tenants disclosed that they were smokers and stated they would only smoke outside. However, this should have been a significant concern and was either overlooked or not taken seriously during the screening process. After issues arose and we reached out for assistance, there was little to no accountability or support. Since moving in, the tenants have openly bragged about having been in prison and have exhibited behavior that has made us feel uncomfortable and concerned about their stability. While everyone's past is their own, these developments have raised serious questions about how thoroughly the screening process was conducted. A realtor's job is to help protect their clients by carefully vetting prospective tenants and identifying potential risks. In our experience, that did not happen. We are now dealing with the consequences of what appears to have been a lack of due diligence and poor judgment. Today I inquired regarding a property that was listed for rent. I asked one simple question. Would it be possible to tour the property prior to putting in an application? Within an hour I received a form email regarding the property having an application pending. Ok, but I am now curious regarding other properties. I have questions, and since the email was clearly form, I call. Stacey immediately assumed what my question was. Inaccurately. And would not let me get a word in edgewise. I tried this twice. Never got to ask the questions, and I can not imagine how impossible this company would be if they were managing a property that I cared about. Can you imagine renting from someone like that? Not me. We will not suggesting this company to anyone for management of property nor rentals, and will be avoiding any dealings with the same in the future. read more

recently inquired about one of the properties and to my great delight I got approved! Awesome! Until what followed next was nothing but confusion, frustration, and baffling disappointment. I was told the property manager's name was Susie. Everything seemed to be going fine at first. Once I was told I was approved I was told I can pay the deposit online. Okay, no problem. I inquired to Susie how much the deposit was. I even asked if the amount of the deposit will be on the website, because I was told I also had the option of bring in a check so I wanted to make sure if I brought it in person it was made out in the correct amount. After stating I can bring in the check I asked if they had an estimated move in date (reasonable question I thought). Nothing. I again asked how much the deposit would be, and I would be happy to pay the deposit as soon as I got a few more details to the following question: 1) How much the deposit is 2) An estimated move in date 3) What the rent would cover (utilities, sewer, electric, garbage, etc.) and when would they need the rest of the money (1st and last - which I asked for clarification if they even needed 1st and last because, again, we never discussed any of the details thoroughly). I even listed the questions above in a text message, so it was clear what information I was requesting. All I got was a response that all I needed was 1st month's rent and deposit and was asked if I had a pet. AGAIN, still no response on how much the deposit was. I was now getting frustrated. I was also uncomfortable paying a deposit without any estimated move in date. I ended up calling the office and spoke with a lovely lady named Patty. She is in admin and I was told she would be able to tell me the amount of the deposit. While on hold she got a call form Susie informing me to call her. I tried to call but I got no answer. No problem...I will try again later. I expressed my concern to Susie via text after seeing other reviews online and was starting to get increasingly nervous. Her response via text was, and I quote: "People love to complain. The information on utilities is included in our lease packet. It's no problem if you don't want it. I have gotten a lot of people that want to apply and can only take one at a time. Because we don't have a deposit it will go back on the market. Thank you. Susie" WOW. Just wow. All I wanted to know this entire time was how much the deposit was so I could pay said deposit. It was at this time I decided I would call Mike Larson (I think that is his last name) who I was told was the owner. He picked up and informed me he knows all about the situation and knows exactly who I am , and "regardless or not if Susie told me how much the deposit was she informed me how to do it online so it shouldn't be an issue". Whoa. I advised him I simply just wanted to know how much the deposit was, and an estimated move in date. He said he will have Susie call me back. NOTE: **The ad for the listing was only up for about a day then taken down, so I had nothing to reference for this information, and sadly I didn't get a screenshot either.** Well Susie called me about 30 minutes later and was very hostile right off the bat. I was finally able to ask her what is the deposit amount, and she said "I TOLD YOU how much it was and how to pay it online the night you viewed the property, and you just don't remember". Again, whoa. As a potential client if I ask you a million times how much the deposit is - it at least warrants a response (regardless if I "remember" or not). I found it to be terribly unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth. She LITERALLY just had to say something along the lines: "The deposit is $X amount, and move in would be from anywhere from a few days to a week, but before the 1st"....and I would had been at the office with a check within an hour. Now I am a very reasonable person. I was nothing but respectful, kind, and communicative in the information I was seeking. I truly, honestly believed they were reasonable requests. I was excited for this rental and really looking forward to moving! I cannot speak for the entire company, but as a representative and professional of the real estate agency as a whole I would think they would put their best foot forward. Instead I got attitude, disrespected, and made to feel like somehow I was in the wrong for asking very basic questions. Just completely unprofessional. If it was this hard just to get the deposit amount and move in date I can't imagine the nightmare it would be if I ever needed any repairs done. Do not recommend. read more

Horrible service from a landlord perspective from Suzie in property management. Not only is she slow or doesn't respond, she doesn't pass along all of the information from my tenant. She and Mike proceed to give information about landlord responsibility and again not share with me, the landlord. Makes it VERY hard to establish a good working relationship with new tenants. He is a very nice and helpful gentleman I think sometimes it must be hard to be a property manager and have to please so many people. Probably the worst customer service I have ever received! Susan, was the agent that was assisting myself and my husband with our rental contract, she was extremely rude and and constantly late. When I noticed that the contract was incorrect and asked her to make the proper corrections, she copped an attitude and then didn't have the dollar figures correct. She never once offered us a beverage as the other agents did with their clients. When I later called to speak to a manager, they pretended he wasn't there and I had to call back several times. I hate to think that Susan was behaving in the manner she did because I was a person of color, but the office manager kept telling me, she was so "surprised" and everyone loves Susan. Very unprofessional, said I had the apartment just to end up homeless with my roommate that had severe stroke. Don't know what happened, ready to sign and get keys just to hear he made a mistake! Well we're still homeless and that was a couple months ago! Was staying in motel for a year and was very excited to get the apartment however to say the least we were devastated! We work with Chris and he had been helpful and honest since day one. Down to earth guy, reliable, easy to get a hold of. My wife and I have recently moved to the Lakewood, Washington area from out of state with little understanding of the city requirements for utilities, sanitation/waste, cable/internet, etc. We were shocked that after signing our lease with our realtor, Susie, that aside from being told that we would be responsible for trash, all other tenant responsibilities were acquired through personal inquiry. She provided us no list of contact information or leads regarding any of the utility companies that we would inevitably need to sign up for. Furthermore, contacting her is near impossible due to her tardy response time and inability to follow up on requests for home maintenance. The first week we moved in we provided her with a list of needed repairs. We were told by Susie that she would get in contact with the repairman, but after a week of no response, I reached out to her only to be ignored and still have yet to be provided with any information. It has now been almost two weeks. My wife and I have had to research and find out all necessary living expenses on our own. She has provided us with no help. I do not know if this an ALLEN Realtors business model, but Susie's professionalism and sense of responsibility to her clients is deplorable. A word of caution to any future potential renters: if you are going to do business with either ALLEN realtors or Susie, be sure to ask thorough questions, take extremely detailed notes of the condition of the property and get everything in writing. read more

She represented our landlord and rented us our current home and we are still awaiting any sort of apology or ownership for her actions neglecting and withholding rental information. What a horrible representation of your realtor agency. As if her dog eating our checks in her car wasn't exceptionally unprofessional, she then expected us to pay the $13 online fee. Now that we are taking first time home buying classes we are further realizing her complete ineptitude. Not only did she not disclose that the basement leaked (which the owner openly divulged to us was something she had conveyed as an issue) but she listed our home as a 4 bedroom 1600 square foot dwelling when two of the "bedrooms" are located in an attic space that is lower than the 7 ft standard (no beams). An absolutely horrible experience that we are still paying for. She owes an apology to everyone at your agency for the picture she's painted of your business. read more

A very disappointing experience. I contacted this company to inquire about a commercial rental property. The viewing started with the realtor being over an hour late, but he was apologetic and seemed eager to show the property. During the viewing I inquired about move in dates and possible rental discounts for a multi-year lease instead of single year. I was told that the owner would need to be contacted for these inquiries and I should hear back in a day or so. After two days I received a call that the owner was out of town and that I could expect an update in a week. After three weeks I emailed to see what the delay was. To my shock, I was told that that the property was now being rented to someone else. The reason given was that the new renter was willing to move in immediately and pay the advertised rent. That was fine, except I was also willing to do this and had expressed this to the realtor! It was obvious that he conveyed either wrong information or failed to do any follow up. Very poor customer service and I will ensure that my future rentals are not with this company. read more

I was a renter here for over 6 years. Through that period as the house was deteriorating, Allen Realtors was extremely slow to respond to any of my requests. There was a leak in my garbage disposal that sent everything under the house. After a month of that the stench was terrible and it was seeping into the house. It took them another three weeks to come to the house and fix it. The ceiling in the kitchen began to leak. Allen Realtors came and duct taped a Ziploc bag over the leak. After over half a decade of living there, I was told abruptly that I had to move out. I asked for help to find a new rental and no help was given. Thankfully I ended up buying a house. Last week I got something in the mail asking for $400 over my thousand dollar deposit I initially submitted. This was ridiculous as I am a clean person and the house was given back in great condition. I'm going to dispute this piteous request. So, to my over 350 friends on yelp, stay tuned for the results. read more

This company mismanaged my property for years and allowed tenants to take appliances, destroy the flooring, drywall, and never checked once to see if the tenants were complying with their rental agreement. The tenants smoked inside the dwelling and had large dogs that chewed on everything and soiled the carpets and made the entire house stink. All of that was in violation of the rental agreement. We essentially paid this company every month a commission for nothing. It's going to take thousands of dollars to make the property habitable and serviceable. They didn't even make sure that the roof and gutters were serviced or maintained. I will not only ever use or recommend this company when the time comes to list my house I'm not going to use them for that either. I don't recommend this company and I recommend that you stay away from this company until they completely overhaul their property management personnel and policies. read more

Unfair practices used by this company, treated fairly politely until they pull your credit and find out that you are one the many Americans who's credit had been effected in the past by the economy, then you are denied , I was not offered an explanation , I had to call and speak with someone about it , and then it was insinuated that they only rent to people who can "pay their bills" it does not matter if you have owned before and your house WAS NOT foreclosed on , or if you have accounts in good standing including a car payment , and a spotless rental history for the past two years , never late and paying MORE in rent than you would be if they rented to you by at least 200 per month .... but none of that is considered , if you have ANY negative accounts then you are denied, I even offered to contact the accounts in reference and pay them in full , one was 4 years old and only 152.00 , I didn't even know about it , but I was told no , my credit score is still too low . You are a number .. nothing more, nothing less... we have BECOME our credit score.. its unfair and is not used by other rental agencies in the area to establish if you are a good potential tenant in short , we lost the opportunity for a really nice house, due to this, a house that we would have taken care of and more than likely stayed long term. they are now going to get a tenant who may have spotless credit.. but they are here today gone tomorrow , most people like that do not become long term renters as they will eventually buy. I feel sorry for the people who own the home , as this type of screening is losing them long term tenants. I used to rent out my house . the people I rented it to had credit issues, they took exceptional care of my house , and stayed for four years , they only left because I sold it... This is by far, the worst experience with a property management company I have ever had. I would NEVER rent again from Harold Allen due to their TERRIBLE property manager (who I will refrain from naming) as well as the inexcusable experience I had with NEVER BEING ABLE TO GET A HOLD OF ANYONE! I rented for 2 years under their company, and originally dealt with it because I had a great condo unit. Once I needed things fixed or call-backs and it never happeneing, I began to see Harold Allen in a different light. The property manager's here are extremely unprofessional, my fiance' moved out of here and was hit with $2,000 "carpet cleaning fee", he was also billed for a pet deposit which we've paid and also "unpaid" utility bills that we're paid prior to the date of we received the bill. We moved to Hawaii and have made every attempt to call and e-mail them, leaving several messages only receiving one e-mail back from a Brittany in bookkeeping stating that the property manager was out of town. When I called in horrible unprofessional person named Stacey said that we we're emailed twice and when I told her we had no records of emails and asked her to forward a copy of the sent email she hung up on me because I didn't listen to her and then refused to take my calls when we called back so put me through to a manager. We unfortunately have to take this matter court and are putting in a report with the better business bureau. My fiance' is a hard working High School teacher and these people have treated us like scum and are hell bent on sending $4000 worth of charges to collections to destroy our rental history. They are unethical and will not return your multiple calls and emails. AVOID this place at ALL costs and please feel free to message me if you've had a similar experience. read more

These people tried to charge us for $3000 for their carpet to replaced because the carpet was so cheap when we vacuumed it, it became frayed. The absolute worst. I signed with Diane H. from Allan Realtors to sell my house. I live out of state so Diane promised to manage repairs for me. The new kitchen counter-tops were not fully glued down with some trim falling off, the drain in the kitchen and one bathroom was broken and disconnected, and trash left in the house. In this condition I did not get one bid, although Diane was reassuring me via phone that it should sell. During one phone call we agreed to lower the price $15k and still not one bid. Diane asked me for $5k for additional repairs, but was unclear what those repair would be, so no money was sent. When my contract with Allan expired, I flew up to Tacoma, looked at the condition of the house, (Diane had hired someone to attempt to cleanup the worst of it before I arrived), hired a Nationally known and respected Realty Company, did some cleanup, raised the price back to the original and sold the house in a couple of weeks. There is more, but you get the idea, I would never deal with Diane / Allan Realtors again, and personally would favor a more energetic realtor. read more
