I agonized on this review. The good: the bar is GREAT! Good drinks and the bartenders are amazing. Buffalo wings are really good, onion dip and house made chips are as well! Happy hour specials aren't anything to write home about and we went back a second time and skipped the happy hour deals. The bad: skip the restaurant. The ambiance is lovely. It still LOOKS like a supper club, but the menu has been reduced to about 4 choices of entree--including a burger, trout, and steak frites which is what I ordered. The pasta shown on line is no longer on the menu. My steak was a sirloin, kinda flavorless and tough (honestly, I've had better at IHOP with eggs!) Fries were good I suppose. My son ordered another plate of buffalo wings from the bar and was very happy. No bread. No water. It's kinda sad, because I can see what this place WAS. Hope they can get back to it. In the meantime, go for a great drink and conversation with the bartenders (all 3 were wonderful) and go eat somewhere else. read more

Very cool atmosphere located in the graduate hotel in Ann Arbor. Being locals, we thought we would find a new cocktail lounge and were excited to check it out. Upon entering, we were the only people at the bar with 2 bartenders and was greeted and got our first round of drinks and everything seemed fine. Then two more employees showed up and they all sat down at the end of the bar playing cards completely ignoring us. We sat with empty glasses for like 25 minutes when I finally spoke up and said "Hellooo could we get another round, please?" and they all started snickering and kept playing cards. finally one of them turned around "what you need"? He had no idea how to make the simple classic cocktail we ordered. Then we had to chase them down again to get our $72 tab. Very cool atmosphere but the service is absolutely horrific. read more

While staying at the Graduate for a mini vacation over the summer, I wanted to check out the hotel bar. The Graduate hotels are known for their themed decor and atmosphere, and the Allen Rumsey Cocktail Lounge has some old-school lounge vibes going on. Sort of high end Cheers-esque. Nate and I stopped by to grab a drink before heading out downtown. I ordered the Afterglow at the Arb: Valentine white blossom vodka, lavender, lemon, and blueberry, and he got the Old Fashioned, which is made with brandy. The drinks were nicely balanced and well made, and mine was especially refreshing on a hot summer day. Our server, Wes, was friendly and polite and chatted with us about the drinks. We didn't order any food but their menu looked fun and tasty. I'm a sucker for crinkle fries so I'd definitely get those next time. The vibes and our server were great, but I couldn't help but notice the other bartender's impatience with another group nearby. She kept rolling her eyes every time she turned away from their table, which was a bit amusing but also a little off putting. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Either way, I'd stop by here again if staying in the hotel in the future. read more

We were staying at the graduate and stopped in for a nightcap and it was a great decision! We inquired about the Amari flight on the menu. The sampling offered three variations of the Italian liqueur but it was the knowledge Armando, the bar manager, shared that was truly amazing. He stopped by the table multiple times to ask us our thoughts and share tips on how to best enjoy the flight. After the tasting he made two amazing cocktails tailored to what we liked from amaro. Highly recommend - especially if you are lucky enough to have Armando as your bartender! read more

I'm generally not a fan at all of hotel restaurants, but this place is actually pretty cool. Went here for the first time when it was still the Supper Club for restaurant week and LOVED it. Bummed they didn't keep it a full service restaurant. But I've been back two more times now for special events, and wow, they do a fantastic job. Their food spread is always delicious and interesting- steak bites that were to die for and a build-your-own cheesecake bar were some highlights. And the wine selection at their wine nights is amazing. I tried Dom Perignon for the first (and probably only) time ever at one of them! (Actually, it's not that good lol, but I'm glad I got to try it!) I don't expect to be back on an everyday occasion, but I will definitely return to another event. Looking forward to it! read more

After seeing the Supper Club at Taste of Ann Arbor we decided to try it out - and we were not disappointed. Chandler and the hostesses in training seated us quickly and brought out water. Our waiter, Jordan, was also attentive and nice - adding to the wonderful experience. We started with drinks and the meat and cheese board. The local cheeses were phenomenal and even if we hadn't liked dinner (which we loved) it would be worth going back just for an evening with wine and a mixed cheese/charcuterie board. We also got the Caesar salads, which are prepared table-side and very generous. I was a big fan since the dressing is fresh made and not overly creamy like some others. The salads were delicious and Jordan was friendly and chatted/joked with us during the preparation, while explaining the steps. For entrees, we both ordered the lamb chops. The lamb was cooked perfectly, the Michigan cherry relish was a great compliment with a nice spicy kick. We ordered the fries and green beans as sides, both delicious. The housemade ketchup was wonderful- and I generally hate ketchup. Last but certainly not least, we split the cream puff with Sanders hot fudge and Guernsey's ice cream. This is huge and could easily be split between 2-4 people depending on how big your sweet tooth is. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the Allen Rumsey Supper Club and will definitely be returning. read more

I brought my daughter here for desserts for a special night. They couldn't have done more to make it a wonderful experience. Jordan (I think, I'm bad with names) our server was excellent as was the rest of the staff. The presentation of the S'mores inspired dessert was magical - it was brought out under a classic silver dome and when the server lifted it magical "smoke" wafted out! Very cool. The flambéd cherries were equally presented and very tasty. They even gave her a stuffed animal with a cute story about Mr Fox collecting celebrity autographs like my princess. Went here for dinner with a friend last week. The service was fantastic, our server Charles made great suggestions. Salads were delicious and HUGE. I will definitely come back for the pear and brie. I had a great dinner and a wonderful experience at the Allen Rumsey Supper Club. As a member of a group, the round table in the back corner was perfect for an easy and intimate meeting of friends. Our waiter, Charlie, was attentive and friendly. The chef, Loren, was top of the line, as he came to our table with descriptive recommendations of menu options. The menu is limited, but I prefer a restaurant that does things well, rather than one with a vast menu of varied quality. Loren was a rockstar as he described, with passion, fresh heirloom cuisine, using local sources whenever possible. My pork chop was extraordinary. We happened to walk in here after a walk one Friday night. Four blocks away from where we live. The minute we walked in we felt like neighbors. The staff was outstanding, especially ALEXIS our waitress, anybody should feel lucky to have her as an employee and you should feel even luckier to have her as a server; great personality, it almost seems like she was a hostess in her living room rather than working in a restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is exceptional. I recommend this place to anybody, not just the hotel guests. WORST...SERVICE...EVER! Went to get some simple drinks and apps before a game and the bartender was miserable, and made it miserable for the patrons. Walked in and menus were slapped in front of our faces. You could tell she was obviously upset about something that unconvinced her. She yelled at a co-worker for helping her stock the bar. Bitterly responded to an older man that approached the bar to ask for drinks when he wasn't being served. His wife came to the bar later to ask for ice and she scowled at her and told her to "hold on". Mind you there were a total of 4 couples in the bar... apparently we were all an inconvenience to her. The vibe was completely negative and we cashed out as well as the couple next to us. There was no way To enjoy the rest of our evening in that place. I wouldn't not suggest this bar to friends or family in the future! read more

We came here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Lovely atmosphere of red leather banquettes and tables with captain's chairs, soft music, and dim lighting made it cozy. I half expected to see Don Draper at the next table. We ordered the relish tray and drinks before indulging in the prime rib special. It was an excellent cut of meat, cooked to perfection. I couldn't finish and our waiter, Charles, packed up my leftovers to take home, including some of the relish tray. My husband had the generous serving of key lime bar for dessert. Valet parking is the only parking option, but the valets were careful and considerate. Drinks were a little on the weak side and dessert didn't have as pronounced a lime flavor as we thought it should but we do feel it was made on the premises. read more
