My only complaint is that everything was a bit too salty but I think that's inevitable since Sichuan food just has so many spices and is packed with flavor. The place looks small initially but is actually really long and there's a basement too with extra seating. I would definitely come back here when craving Sichuan food. Review for takeout order only. I ordered for pickup on UberEats, and my order was ready on the shorter end of the timeframe. The place was empty at 4 PM on a Sunday. I wanted some duck blood and saw that Alley 41 had a few variations. I opted for the Duck Blood with Pickled Chiles. I also got some rice on the side, and a Chinese Herbal Tea (Wong Lo Kat) to go with it. The chilies really bring the heat! There is a good amount of duck blood, though I prefer thicker cuts. It is a very oily dish. I ended up scooping the dish onto the rice to get rid of a lot of the oil. There wasn't much of a pickle flavor to cut the heat and oil. Overall, not my favorite duck blood dish. I will have to try the one with pork intestine or braised frog for more flavor. I will also have to try other dishes and dining in. read more

My girlfriend picked this place for a group outing of friends/colleagues from Chongqing in China. I was the only "American" in the group. In general I like Chinese food, and pretty much every dish was excellent. Small restaurant but two group rooms in the back that can fit like a dozen people each. Went here to try it after reading the reviews. I am able to walk here so that is a plus. We got there at 130p and it was fairly crowded. Even though it was busy, I only saw 2 waitstaff on duty. Their menu was on a tablet (they should wipe down the screens every so often with alcohol wipes....it was a little gross) and the waiter took our order after we had a chance to review it. The waiter seemed distracted/preoccupied while taking our order. Food came out fairly quickly but in a sort of reverse order....the main courses came out before the appetizers. They later served us a dish we didn't order and we got our appetizer dish last. It's a little darker space inside and has a bathroom down the stairs that's clean. We ordered the pork belly, dan dan noodles, wontons, and one of the best chili lamb I've had. For the main dish, my friend and I got chili oil fish layered on top of veggies, spiced heavily but authentically. We also ordered a side of string beans which both were flavorful and oily. Honestly a little bit of a weird experience. We came at opening at around 11 AM. For menu selection, you choose from an iPad. It's a bit hard to choose because it's hard to know the portion size. We ordered several entrees to share with our friends. Overall, the food was very good. However, shortly after we finished lunch, the server told us that there is a large group waiting to use our table (one of the few tables that seats a large group) and essentially asked us to leave the restaurant. The parking situation is also tough. There is a paid lot across the street that's pretty expensive ($12 for 3 hours). Street parking is essentially nonexistent even if you come at opening on Sundays. The paid lot is so much more expensive compared to other nearby lots. Likely not returning even though the food was good, the service and ambiance not so much. Beef trip with fresh peppers, this dish is less of my favorite. The sauce taste like a soysauce and the tripe looks like a boiled tripe so I don't recommend this dish. This place might have just built up my spice tolerance a little. There was a worker chilling by the front door when I walked in, but as soon as he saw a customer, he immediately greeted me and allowed me to sit in to wait. The menu was presented on a iPad. But you weren't able to order from there. You would still have to call them over to order, which is kind of counterintuitive, but we still at least save paper! Note their Yelp free drink check in is still valid! The Mapo Tofu ($16.95) wasn't too bad. It was two pepper signs, doable, and granted me the option to really enjoy its minced pork flavor. Eat all that you can while your mouth still able to detect flavors, because the Popcorn Chicken will numb your taste buds. I don't eat Szechuan often, so the tingling numbing effect still amuses me. Good thing I had my free Coconut milk (from check-in) to balance the spice! With a plethora of dish options Alley 41 has to offer, I am happy to have dabbled in Szechuan a bit through this experience, and it surprisingly wasn't as insanely spicy as I had feared. Made to look like a street scene in Chengdu once you have opened its heavy front door and entered you are transported from a side street in Flushing Queens to a place of marvel.
