Other favorites included the milky beef, lotus root, beef balls, bean curd sheets, and several other fresh selections. The extensive sauce bar let everyone create their perfect dipping sauce. Highly recommend coming as early as possible otherwise plan to wait. They do give everyone a bag to put your jackets in there so the hot pot smell does not get on everything. They also give you an apron so you don't splash on yourself which is very considerate. This is not an AYCE place so you get a menu in the beginning to order what you want. They do have dual pots so we went with tomato and mild - the mild has a pretty strong kick to it so if you cannot tolerate spicy then I recommend avoiding it. We joined the waitlist and the table was ready around 2.5 hours after (so long but very worth it). The interior of the restaurant is really nice and very authentic Chinese. I personally feel it's worth waiting for though. The inside is an old school China vibe with Tatami seating, old Chinese decor, lanterns all over the place. At the very least, I never had a shortage of decor to look at! Food wise, my friend and I got the Mushroom and Medium Spicy broth. The best hot, hot and Flushing in my opinion, however, be expecting 2 to 3 hour wait time during peak hours. Service is amazing. First time trying this very popular hot pot spot in Flushing! There's usually a long wait to get in, but we arrived right at opening and were lucky enough to grab a table. Food: AMAZING. This is one of my favorite hot pot places (a la carte) in NYC. This restaurant serves very high quality ingredients. They not only offer a wide variety of hot pot items but also have unique items you wouldn't find in a typical hot pot restaurant. The presentation of the food is also beautiful. Even their broths are delicious and good quality. Since this place is a la carte, items can add up quickly, but I think the quality and overall experience at this restaurant is worth spending a bit more. They do charge $1.95 per sauce bowl that you use so be mindful of how many sauce bowls you use. Even their sauce bar is better quality than other hot pot restaurants. There is always a wait for this restaurant and even a line forming before they even open so try to get here close to opening time if you don't want to wait. Service: Service is excellent here. Staff are friendly and attentive and always checking on you. Ambiance: The decor is beautiful here and makes you feel you are in China. I love the vibes in this restaurant. Chong Qing Lao Zao is an authentic Chinese hot pot restaurant located in the Flushing area of New York City. Our group of four decided to dine in around 10PM on a Sunday before the BLACKPINK concert ended. There was still a bit of a wait to be seated. We were told 45 minutes, our table was ready way sooner than that! Our waiter Shawn was very helpful! He helped us decide which broths and spice level we should do. We ended up choosing two different broths: tomato and mild. Shawn warned us the broth can be pretty spicy and he right!!! The mild was a lot spicier than we anticipated. We selected a variety of meats, seafoods, noodles, and vegetables to add to our hot pot. The food was great! It was delicious and it was a great experience dining here. I loved that they provided aprons for customers to wear while they dining to protect their clothes from any spillage and mess that could occur.
