The inside looks like a retro bakery. The attendant was very helpful and informative when it came to explaining the difference between all the signature pastries. The Anne was very delicious, would love to come back to try some of their other items.

Came here after Thai dinner. We wanted to end our evening with a sweet treat. For goodies we got cupcakes. We opted for strawberry cupcake and carrot cupcake. My cupcake was moist and not overly sweet. Sometimes I cannot handle how sweet the cream cheese frosting is but I ate all of my frosting. All in all this was a good spot to grab some late night goodies.

To celebrate my husband's dirty 30, I decided to get him a custom Attack on Titan cake. The cake itself was delicious. I got the chocolate cake with pistachio filling and it wasn't overly sweet. Such a good combo!! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, when I was speaking to the staff regarding the cake, they were not helpful when it came to giving suggestions that fit into my budget. Imstead, I got responses about how out of budget certain ideas would be. When asking for suggestions, I was just told everything is expensive. Certain staff members were also rude to me on the phone and was not pleasant to work with. While I loved the gorg cake and the execution, the staff could definitely do better. Considering how beautiful and delicious the cake was, will give the bakery another try.

We wanted a small 6" cutting cake for our wedding and had a specific design in mind. We started with Alliance Bakery's at-home tasting kit, which made picking our flavors easy and fun to do. They were responsive and easy to work with to design the cake we wanted for our wedding. The cake itself turned out exactly how we wanted, was delicious, and we were able to enjoy it for a few days after the wedding. We would recommend ordering your wedding cake or desserts for any occasion from Alliance Bakery!

I saw cake and needed to stop! And so glad I did! I didn't even stop for cake but they've got plenty. I wanted coffee and a pastry. The person working was very nice and accommodating. He made a great recommendation for my mocha selection and I was very happily caffeinated. I tried the sweet caramel and strawberry macaroons. Both were perfect. I also tried the lemon strawberry cupcake with its perfect 10 round sprinkles. Loved it so much! Very moist. You have the option of sitting outside; which would be a nice way to spend the morning. Will be returning asap!

My wife and I wanted to make a special cake for our son's first birthday, so we looked around for a bakery to help create our vision. We found some good inspirational photos online and came across Alliance Bakery & Cafe during our search. Initially, we were skeptical after reading the other reviews about some misfortunes with custom cakes. However, with only two weeks to request a cake before the event, we decided to try them. From the beginning, within 24 hours of requesting a custom cake, we were contacted via email by Austin, who was incredibly helpful and helped outline what was possible and very transparent about the pricing. They have plenty of options for cake flavoring and styles, and Austin was kind enough to create multiple quotes for all the different options. The cake was finalized about 1 week before the event, and we paid the deposit in person. The person at the front desk was very friendly and took our deposit and left notes about what we wanted to be done with our cake toppers. The bakery made every effort to make sure we were happy and to provide the exact cake we requested. The morning of the event, I picked up the cake and the few unused toppers. The person instructed me on the best place to keep the cake in the car for transport and how long it should be removed from the freezer/fridge before serving it to the guests. The cake turned out better than we could have expected and looked amazing for our son's first birthday - we couldn't have been happier. As for the taste, our bottom layer was almond cake with raspberry filling and it was delicious - all the guests loved it. The top layer was chocolate with mocha buttercream, which was also excellent. Overall, we would definitely recommend getting a custom cake from Alliance and will plan to use them again when we need another amazing cake!

Alliance Bakery creates truly phenomenal cakes. We have ordered several over the years. Each was a work of art. Moreover, the quality of the cake itself, the filling, and the icing is amazing. You will not be disappointed!

Wow! What a great random find in the neighborhood! The service is immaculate and the aesthetic is definitely there. The treats were yummy. I will definitely be back!!

I ordered cake pops for an event and received the most misshaped, lopsided , ugly looking cake pops I have ever seen. They should be ashamed to present a customer such item.

Price: $$$ What to Get: - Paczkis! (Any flavors are good) - Macarons Spotlight: Freshly make Paczki runs daily only from Feb 25- March 1/ Also, amazing French pastry selection. payment Options: Cash/Credit cart Parking : Street meter *In my yelpions: I may not be the most religious person, but when it comes to food, I can be :D. So before you practice your lent, let's enjoy this sweet treat. Alliance Bakery is definitely one of my favorite place to visit specially during this time of the year , not only they have an attractive window display with scrumptious looking cakes, but also, French sweet are just a total package with the flavor and the look. Different paczki bakery has their own unique flavor, the traditional flavors usually are the plum butter, cream custard or rose hip jam, and ofcourse, there are many more. But what makes Alliance bakery so stand out is their paczkis are not overwhelmingly sweet, and the flavors are very unique. Thus you have to make sure to get there early enough so it won't sold out. If you are looking for a new place for new treat to expand your culture food options, you won't be disappointed with Alliance.

You can't help but feel like this place has been in the neighborhood for forever: the gold ceiling, the woodwork, the window display, the smells! Alliance is one of those places: if you know, YOU KNOW. They have incredibly creative cakes in the windows and more in the refrigerated cases inside (ready to be personalized). I've never walked in and they've been out of something. Even when they have specials like a guava cream croissant- omg yummmmm! My favorite time of year is Valentine's Day when they make the "conversation hearts"... dirty and sassy. I always bring them to a gal-entine's party because they're hilarious! The people behind the counter are usually young artsy types. This is not a coffee shop, so yes they're able to make a latte but it's your basic latte. They really shine better with their bakery goods. Prices are pricey, but you will not be disappointed.

I happened to be in Wicker Park this afternoon and stopped by the Alliance Bakery on Division near Wood St. They're Tiramisu looked good on their website so I decided to try one along with a cup of coffee and sat at their outdoor patio. I thought the coffee was good but the Tiramisu was just OK, nothing stood out for me. The people are nice and the bakery looks like it's been there forever.I'd go back again but try something new. I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Seating is pretty limited, but it looked like most folks were picking up pastries to go, but either way you order at the front one party at a time. Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. The cake tasting was a wonderful experience, giving us plenty of delicious options to choose from while helping us create the perfect cake for our special day. Throughout the entire process, their communication was outstanding. They kept us informed every step of the way and worked directly with our wedding venue, "Firehouse Chicago", to coordinate the delivery and logistics. Everything was handled seamlessly, and our cake arrived exactly as planned without a single issue. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but Bittersweet's professionalism, organization, and proactive approach gave us one less thing to worry about. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellent customer service truly stood out. One feature we especially love is that they keep the recipe and design of your wedding cake on file. Every anniversary, they can recreate your wedding cake or a cake in any size you choose. We've continued this tradition, and each anniversary cake has been just as delicious as the original while bringing back wonderful memories of our wedding day. If you're looking for a bakery that is responsive, dependable, and delivers an outstanding product, I highly recommend Bittersweet Bakery for your wedding cake or any bakery needs. They responded promptly to our questions and requests, unlike some businesses that never replied to estimate inquiries. Their customer service and quality were truly exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Samuel who conducted the Cake Tasting and the entire staff at Bittersweet Bakery for helping make our dream wedding a reality. We will always be grateful and look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with your incredible cakes.
