Had furnace go out sunday. Called them and was told since line is frozen they would come on Monday. That would not be an emergency call. Man showed up at 8:03 am. Looked in furnace cabinet and did a test and said the circuit board was bad. I knew I could buy OEM circuit board for about $80. I asked how much to replace the board he said $761.00. I asked if I could get a discount and that I know the circuit board he could get was under $80 with his discount. He said that was the price. Since it was going to get hot I said ok. He drove to local parts store and came back and installed board in about 10 minutes. BY 9:00 am he was leaving. That means He made almost $700 for an hours work and that includes the travel time. Talked to owner Kraig and asked why so much and he said he has over head and the van they use cost him over $60,000. and there was nothing he could do about the price. That is what they charge for a circuit board replacement. Part and labor is guaranteed for one year. If It breaks I will call them but will not call for anything else in the future. Neighbor came over the next day and said he needs furnace and air conditioner replaced and wanted to know if I knew anyone. I told him I just paid about $700 for one hours work with I guy I used but would not recommend anyone when I just paid about $700 an hours labor. When you gouge you loose and people find out and there goes the business. Place does good work but way overpriced. The part On line was not a used or aftermarket part. It was an OEM replacement part. Where you bought the part at Berkheimer in Arlington hts they sell the part to you for less than what I paid for the item. not 2.5 time that price. Even if part cost $200 you still are making $561.00 for 1 hour of labor which includes the time to travel and get the part. I could argue with you all day but it is not worth it, you overcharge for labor period! All the people that ask me for a referral will know you over charge for labor. read more

When my furnace went out out, I had Modern Day come out the same day, assessed my needs , and had my new furnace installed on a Saturday morning. They were punctual, professional, and took great care with the installation,as well as the old furnace removal. They laid down floor tarps entering the hardwood floor entrance, as well as the carpeted stairs leading down to the basement furnace room. When they left there was no trace left behind other than a professionaly installed new furnace. We happen to replace our 20+ years old and Kraig tuned it 2 years back and gave life for another 2 years (other people were jumping with quotes to buy new Furnace last year itself). Now this year as COVID is settling down, we decided to replace our furnace and AC. Kraig is spot on explaining the multiple opportunities and models we can choose from. One thing I realized after talking to him he is 'Technician' but not a 'Sales person' as he was not pushing to get for high end model and load multiple optional. He and his crew arrived exactly on time and finished the work in mentioned time frame. He even went extra mile and added additional connection to my nest which enables 'Stage 2' & 'Fan' features in our nest at no extra cost! (others will charge min $250 extra for this). The way he worked like he was installing this furnace in his own home - Cleaning spots, picking up tiny screws, vacuuming areas periodically, checking heat vents, what not. On time, friendly, knowledgable and fair pricing. I called on a Thursday afternoon and was able to have them out at 8am next morning. I wanted a time slot that I could expect to be honored. I was told the first appointment of the day is the only one that could be guaranteed, since some issues take longer than expected to address. I believe any other appointment is a 2 hour window. I will be using this company as my regular HVAC service from now on and I feel confident to suggest that others in the area do the same. I had Kraig come and tune up my furnace right after another HVAC company replaced my blower motor (at an exorbitant price). The high priced repairman from the other HVAC Company said that my fan cage was warped and that I had small cracks in my heat ex-changer - so he recommended that I get a new furnace. After seeing these positive reviews I called Modern Day Comfort and Kraig came on-time for the appointment, he cleaned and inspected the furnace and told me that the fan cage and heat ex-changer were not a concern at this time. Instead of having to bite the bullet and buy another furnace I only had to pay Kraig's very reasonable price for the tune-up/inspection. And with Kraig's annual tune up I believe that I can get a number of more years from the old furnace. Kraig came out immediately, and spent two hours trying to fix it. You must call them! My heat went out on the 2nd coldest day of the year, just a day before that one Wed. where the temperature was -25 out. Kraig and his partner were out within an hour and a half of my call. It turns out my furnace was 24 years old and had died. I asked if they were able to put in a new one and he said it would take about 4 hours to do. He cleared his schedule to put my furnace in! I couldn't be more thankful. That was on a Tuesday, by Friday when I hadn't heard from him I emailed him to get an update. He not only told my parents that there was nothing major wrong with their furnace (what a relief!), but he cleaned it for a very fair price and even reduced the price when my Dad went to pay him.
