Right before Thanksgiving 2017 we had our heat go out at an investment property. I called Residential because they were local and Eric sounded pretty nice and honest on the phone. We were in an emergency situation so I rushed into signing a contract with Residential heating to replace the HVAC. I bought a complete 2 ton Bryant system for $5500. With the agreement, Residential heating was supposed to install an under counter vent. The installation took place the day after Thanksgiving by one of his subcontractors. When I got there, there was no regard for the new carpet that was present in the basement. When I signed the deal with Eric, he assured me his guys would wear covers on their boots to not ruin the carpet. There was no such care taken as they also piled old furnace parts on the carpet. As they were installing I asked if they were going to replace the old copper lines from the AC unit. They were directed by Eric to not replace the existing copper pipes even though I purchased a complete system including plumbing. They also failed to install the under counter vent as stated in our contract. Eric did come out to try installing the under counter vent. He did not install the vent as a professional would. he could not get the vent clips to align so he resorted to basically jamming the duck half in place. He also refused to cut the baseboard for the opening under the counter. I asked if he could at least use aluminum tape to hold the duck in place - he did not have any in his truck so that was a no go. The solution to all of this was Eric asking me to take care of the remainder of the work; on the bright side he offered to drop off the aluminum tape the following week. He then asked for payment. I paid $5000 with a promise of the rest when the aluminum tape, mess out back was cleaned up, and he brought the paperwork over so we can verify the part numbers of the system. I never received the paperwork for the installation; in fact, I received an email saying the information he showed me was company confidential. I did however receive reminders about the $500 dollars. I asked they meet me at the house so we can review the system numbers against what I purchased. That was a no go also. In the end we paid the remainder we owed and will not be using them in the future. for the price we paid, we could have bought from anyone and received the same or better value. we needed a system in a pinch and Residential came off nice and caring. There was no real value in this transaction. Also, the way Eric and his wife handled the final payment was deceiving and just ugly. With the couple of issues we had, all Eric could say was it was not their fault - no ownership for their product or service. read more

It is always a challenge to find a reputable HVAC company and it is a RISK of not having LEGAL CERTIFIED and EXPERIENCED Technicians who knows how to do root cause analysis of the problem and be upfront, truthful, and give honost recommendations. And do the job right the first time and not milk resident of funds to band aid an issue. HVAC is an expensive deal whether repairs or replacements. It's a big hit to one's finance. And we as residents depend on HVAC companies professional advice to get back to normalcy because they are the experts and hopefully offer competitive pricing and savings. It took time for me to research and budget. I will not make an opinion on the pricing of the product because everyone has different budgets. When I made my decision to go with Residential Heating & Cooling the RISK was Minimized. They are the big deal. Eric the owner is honost, does follow ups, and will tell you what is needed for your home after analysis of your duct work and square footage of your house. It is important one get the right HVAC system for your home because there are variations. HVAC is physics remember that. Kendall the office manager is very responsive and top of her game. She provided amended invoices and copies of warranties to me at my request -- Thank you Kendal! It is hopeful that HVAC owners do their due diligence to hire qualified technicians and has considerate awareness of resident's property. I can't speak for all the company's technicians but the technicians that did the HVAC service were superb, knowledgeable, and friendly. They did a great job! I was experiencing serious amounts of dust and debris in my home. I had the air ducts cleaned multiple times, replaced my furnace and a/c, changed the filters regularly, and continually asked other HVAC professionals for advice. Because I have 3 dogs, my concerns were pretty much dismissed by two other companies: they did not really search for problems, and blamed the dirt on the dogs. I am incredibly relieved to have found this business. We had a brand new HVAC system installed 4 years ago by an outfit I should have researched more. The company's installers took short cuts and ended up failing inspection and having to do redo a lot of the work. Needless to say, I lost faith in that company. I've been putting off hiring someone to do the recommended cleanings and maintenance on the unit because of our bad experience with the other company. I did a lot of research and review reading and found Residential Heating. I sent an inquiry to them on their website and Eric, the owner, responded in 30 minute on a Saturday night. They offered an excellent price on a furnace and AC cleaning and tune up package in which they make separate visits for the appropriate timing Spring|Fall season. I scheduled the furnace maintenance and Kendell, the office manager, was great. She is so nice and a great communicator. Steve, the tech, came out. It was super smart because the company sent a text with Steve's name and picture and his ETA. Steve was personable and very very knowledgeable. Not only was he able to fix so short cycling issues we were having with the cleaning and tube up, he looked and adjusted the settings on a new thermostat he purchased. He looked at the install of our unit and made some suggestions for air intake improvements that could save us money and eliminate cold spots. Long review but the point is, in this day and age, if you can find a family owned business like this who puts their customers first, are reputable and have fair pricing, you want to hang on to them. Wow, I have worked with MANY HVAC companies over the years and Residential Heating and Cooling is by far the best company I've worked with. I had duct work in my basement that was too low and needed to replace it with a solution that allowed me and my tall family to walk without hitting our heads. Chris and Eric did an amazing job figuring out the best and most cost effective way to get the result I wanted. Eric was out to the house 2 times before they even began the work (amazing). He really thought through not only how to fix my ceiling height issue, but equally important how to create more airflow in my house. The result is incredible! Not only am I able to walk through my basement now without ducking all the time, but the air coming out of my vents is AT LEAST 300% better. And, huge bonus. Due to the increase in overall efficiency of my HVAC unit, all of the other supply ducts are blowing better now. We previously had a room that had VERY little airflow to it that is now BOOMING with air (thanks Eric and Chris from my younger son, his room is toasty warm and will be very cool soon when needed). Had a very complicated situation where I had an oversized furnace improperly installed by an inexperienced and in hindsight unqualified company.  While initially I called Residential to upgrade the outdated thermostat and to fix sloppy plenum work the other company had done, Residential came in and found several glaring safety defects in the installation.   Rather than put a band aid on it and move on to the next job, Residential recommended I rip out the shoddy furnace and start fresh rather than risk a Carbon Monoxide leak or further problems.  While it was kind of a shock to have to start over, I can't begin to thank them enough for catching these issues in the fall before it became a huge issue later on.  Eric was very patient in explaining the whole picture to me and helping me explore my options.  We ended up with a very fair deal that resolved my issue quickly and kept my family safe.  His team (Mike and Matt) definitely looks out for his customers' safety and not just the bottom line.  On the administrative side, Kendall was awesome in making sure all the documentation was in order and arranging scheduling.  I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

I called Residential Heating & Cooling because our furnace wouldn't stay on. I was able to get an appointment right away. Our furnace was over 20 years old and had seen better days. John came out and after inspecting it and running some test, he explained to us that our furnace was in need of some serious repair not to mention that it was also leaking carbon monoxide. Enough said, we needed a new one. We inquired about the cost and possible financing options and Eric (the owner) came out on a Friday (early evening) that same day to go over everything with us. He was very nice, open, and honest. Our new furnace was installed on Monday. Andrew installed the new one and he was prompt and did an excellent job (even cleaned up afterwards)! This is by far the best company anyone can choose for heating/cooling! I had gotten an estimate from Sears that was way out of line, I thought. The first Sears rep contradicted himself and answered many of my questions without actually answering them. For example, I asked, "Is the A/C completely out of Freon?" His answer: "Oh, I can get you all the Freon you need!" (At the beginning, he also told me he couldn't get Freon anymore!) So Residential Heating & Cooling was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to get a second opinion. Well, the owner won my heart when he called me back from his vacation at Disney World! Everyone I talked with sounded like they really CARED about getting me cooler! Their estimate was $2000 LESS than Sears! The technician came and before the next day was over, my townhouse was wonderfully cool! They even sent a thank you card with a little gift! This is our second outing with Residential Heating & Cooling. 2/2 so far! Eric and crew came out to do Aeroseal on our house. We already knew that we had some other issues to deal with that Aeroseal wouldn't be able to handle (it's not its purpose), but we were sold on the idea to at least attempt to level out the temperature balance in the house. They knocked out the job swiftly, and within a few hours I was able to feel the difference between the three levels in our home. While it's not the end-all-be-all to our problem (again, different issue), I'm happy with how it turned out. Finally, the temperature in the basement and the top floor doesn't seem to have an outrageous gap and the house feels warmer overall. This company is amazing! Eric, the owner, is especially friendly, helpful, and informative. He answers the phone at any time of the night or day. Because I have an electric furnace that can be comoli, he came out himself to work on mine when it was having issues. He went above and beyond to find a circuit board for my furnace in two days, when companies said it was eight weeks backordered. He explains everything so that you understand the issues, and offers extremely reasonable pricing. I am extremely pleased with my service and the price. I am very conscious of my money and felt that this company offered a more than fair price compared to others in the area. We came home from a vacation to find our AC not working, I called and Eric, the owner picked up the phone, within a short period of time he had an amazing repairman, Brett, sent to look over my ac unit. He came and and took the time to put on covers for his shoes to not track any dirt in the house. When he got to the unit he immediately told me what was wrong, what it would take to repair, and how much it would cost. This is the second replacement Residential has done for me (last one was summer 2012 when they replaced my AC during a week of 100+ degree days). I cannot imagine going anywhere else. I need a lot of information to be sure I am making the right move and Eric is always patient and willing to put in the time to give me what I need. Needed help with a malfunctioning A/C compressor, so did a survey of Google ratings for HVAC contractors in Chicago's north suburbs and these folks scored among the highest. But they really iced that cake when I called, and on a Sunday no less, expecting either no answer or maybe an answering service operator. Nope: a really cheerful guy took the call and stunned me by introducing himself as the freakin' OWNER (Eric) of the business! When has that ever happened in this century? He sent two of their techs out for 2 necessary visits Monday & Wednesday, and they fixed a major problem. That confirmed my initial Sunday impression that Residential H&C deserves all those Google 5-Star reviews! read more

Residential Heating and Cooling replaced a carrier infinity furnace for us on December 2nd 2019. The original furnace was only 12 years old but the heat exchanged failed. Eric came out and took great care of us. He not only found a manufacturer special where they would offer a new furnace at basically the price of the just the heat exchanger but was able to get the furnace installed promptly. The tech's that handled the install, Mike and Greg, were very knowledgeable and left the job clean. I was so satisfied with their work I also signed up for their monthly service program. Installers, Jason and Brett, were efficient, fast and area was cleaner than when arrived. Jason identified worn gas and electric connections and replaced without adding to quoted install cost. Our furnace not surviving the Chicago winter this year, finally gave out. Eric was prompt in coming to our rescue. He went over the various options, gave us the best deal he could offer. To top it off, he left us couple of space heaters we could use while the furnace was out. I thought that was very considerate of him. His installers were courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. This is true story. I called issue with AC I found Friday night, I left message Saturday morning to well known company , they did not call me back. So I called Residential 7am Saturday, serviceman arrive 9am. Found issue with Old unit, Estimated and finance is done same day. By end of Tuesday, new Air condition and Furnace was replaced with very professional manner. Addition to above, they left us a portable Air condition unit so that my wife does not need to suffer from Heat. All the work, response time, nothing to complain.
