Allied brewing company is a small but very fun local brewery. A great stop following a hike at Thacher State Park. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating has a great view of the mountains. There is occasionally live music, and there are some corn hole games set up to keep things interesting. Importantly, there are so many beers and ciders to choose from! There is a beverage for every kind of beer and cider lover. They also have a small food menu for snacking, and are right next to a farm store that sells amazing baked goods. I highly recommend this brewery!

I've been to one of their many locations in Boston and it has always been amazing. It's not a fancy establishment, but very clean and there are but a few tables. It's no concern though because they're made to order fried chicken as well as custom bowls will blow you away! The staff here will guide you through their menu of sauces and options if you are stumped... They're made to order fried chicken in every imaginable flavor, whether next level spicy, or somewhere in between with hints of sweetness will have you hooked! If you crave fried chicken in every flavor possible, your taste buds will thank you. Additionally who can resist sides such as fried cheese sticks, onion rings, steamed rice and the list goes on! You can order ahead online or simply pop in. I guarantee that it will be worth the wait. And besides they are located in a small shopping center if you really can't be tied down for 15-20 minutes... I highly recommend and I will be here regularly whenever I have a hankering for delicious Korean fried chicken. Totally worth it and check out their website ahead of time! Sure, some may think that they are paying a bit more for what comes across as fast food but trust me tis worth every penny. If you crave delicious fried chicken that meets your every expectation, you will gladly make this purchase. This chicken is moist, crisp and flavorful and beyond. You will never look back on any other place where you've ordered chicken to go as you will be back again and again. But because they also serve burgers, I think a comparison to Roy Rogers is more appropriate (minus the fixin's bar I really liked). (Side note: There are no more Roy Rogers in New York State, they're only in Mid-Atlantic states at this point). The restaurant is tiny, with about 5 booths and a few small tables, but when I came in for lunch, it was immaculate. My first meal here was a chicken combo, spicy, with cole slaw. I really like their chicken; their spicy chicken has exactly the right amount of heat and flavor that I want. It's also extra, extra, crispy. I feel sorry for those who have to clean up after anyone who eats in, because there will be lots of batter flakes all over the place. And there's no sporks, it's all plastic forks, knives, and spoons. And now, for the picky stuff: You get a slightly larger amount of cole slaw than at similar restaurants. But the chop is finer, and there's more mayonnaise, so for me, it was too mushy. I probably won't order it again, instead I'll check out other sides. The biscuit was fluffy and less salty than at other places, but it was slightly dry, probably having been under a heat lamp for a while. The combo includes a fountain drink, from a smaller, older-style Coke dispenser for which there are only 6 options, one of them being sweetened iced tea. Unsweetened ice tea was not available as far as I could tell, so if that's true, your only unsweetened option is water, out of the dispenser or bottled. I found it amusing to see, in big letters under the counter, "We cook fresh all day," with about 3 dozen pieces of chicken under heat lamps in the back. Just how often during the day do you cook fresh? The bathroom was clean, but the dispensers were out of soap and paper towels. This is not a good thing for a place serving fried chicken. And it was only about 75 minutes into the day when I was there, I would find it hard to believe it was all used up in 75 minutes. More likely, it was never restocked at the start of the business day. C'mon, you can do better. This is easy to fix. I'll definitely be back if only for the chicken, but I do intend to try the burgers and also the other sides. If those are as good as the chicken, and the beverage and bathroom stuff gets better, I'll add more stars to a revised review for sure.

No more special KFC trips to Menands or Bennington for some people in this area. Also, the new traffic signal with GridSmart at Hoosick Rd & Lord Ave intersection is now operational, which helps especially with the Planet Fitness and KFC exiting traffic. An Aldi, a Wendy's and apartments are also going up adjacent to the Planet Fitness. I stopped in at the Brunswick KFC for dine-in lunch recently. The place was very busy around lunchtime as I entered the place, pull very hard on the door to enter. I ordered at the counter, the Chicken Pot Pie with Soft Drink ($6.19 plus tax). I was given a cup for self serve Pepsi fountain drinks, unsweetened & sweet iced tea. I did have to wait around 10 minutes for my pot pie since it was still baking. The KFC chicken pot pie is pretty standard served very hot with boneless chicken pieces, potato, peas and carrots in a creamy broth topped with a flaky pastry pie crust. The prepackaged chocolate chip cookie is no longer included, which is no big deal.  Afterwards, I decided to order more food, but through the KFC app since I saw a lot of people coming in to pickup online orders and leaving promptly. I ordered a Spicy Chicken Mac & Cheese Bowl ($5 plus tax) and a family sized frosted Chocolate Cake ($4.99 plus tax). The app had minor issues processing, but I checked my email and my order was sent through and I order was called and ready in 5 minutes. The spicy chicken bowl had dense mac & cheese and popcorn chicken topped with a spicy sauce. I ate some of the chocolate cake for later on with coffee.  If using the drive thru, just be aware that once you drive in, you cannot exit the raised curbed drive thru lane with vehicles in front and back of your vehicle. As a professional who has reviewed and designed site plans for fast food & coffee places (I did not Yelp those locations), I would never allow or approve the single curbed drive-thru lane with no escape. There will be cases when the customer gets to the speaker and the store does not have certain items or when a delivery driver decides to unassign an order when things take too long. They are trapped in the drive thru lane until the vehicles ahead of them move on. I have to deduct a star for this atrocity of bad site engineering.

I spotted several Dave's Hot Chicken "Now Open" lawn signs near Amsterdam HS. As expected, there was a long line from the door to the registers. I ordered my favorite #2 Combo, 2 Sliders (Medium spiciness) & Fries ($14.99 plus tax) and a side of Mac & Cheese ($3.79 plus tax). They call your number when your order is ready. It took 15 minutes after ordering for my order to be packed and ready. The sliders had very crisp thick chicken tenders, slaw, pickles & orange sauce on soft buns were very good. The chicken tenders were crispy outside which had a sweet flavor, then medium hot taste! The crinkle cut fries were golden fried and firm. Dill pickle chips and tangy orange dipping sauce was included with the box of food. The Mac & Cheese had soft macaroni and orange cheese sauce, which I dipped the crinkle cut fries into for cheese fries. This place lived up to the hype IMO. I would recommend this place if you love to eat spicy hot chicken and fries. Still crossing my fingers, as they expand and open more locations including in Portsmouth NH, hopefully more in NH in the near future.

My favorite pour was their Bennie Brown Ale, but I was pleasantly surprised by the hard seltzers, particularly the raspberry, for its crisp, fresh, flavor - not quite so much for the cherry lime, because I thought those two flavors canceled each other out. Food is not available, but there is a blackboard near the entrance (and the swag) which lists the entertainment and food truck schedules. The food was good, however I do wish they had more vegetarian options. We shared the Mixed Breed Ultimate Nachos which were really good, the Mixed Breed Beer Cheese they make is delicious and reaches the tortilla chips on the bottom for the most part -- I can't stand it when only the top chips have cheese and everything below that is bare. I got the Signature Mac & Cheese which came out in a big skillet and was very creamy. I only got a few bites in because we went overboard with the Nachos. My mom got a Cheese Quesadilla which technically isn't on the menu, she got through half of hers. I was gifted her leftovers which I look forward to having for dinner -- the quesadilla looked pretty basic (to be expected with a cheese quesadilla) but it did look like they put a good amount of cheese in it. My mom got their pineapple/coconut cocktail (I forget the name) and it was delicious, tasted like a piña colada. I tried their Stuntman Star-Lord seltzer which isn't sweet and has a slight essence of beer to it. Minus one star for the lack of vegetarian options. The salad section is an easy way to have four fun salads that are vegetarian, and then have the add in options for those who want meat. Sandwiches, there could be a Caprese option. Not even a veggie burger option on the menu. With all those wing sauces I would have LOVED to have seitan as an option also but I understand that is a little more niche. Unfortunately, due to a lack of these options, I probably won't be making the half hour drive back anytime soon.
