MISTAKE. BIG MISTAKE. HUGE. Fast forward 8 months we finally decided turf would be the way to go. We brought in 3 separate turf companies to assess our situation and give us an estimate. Allen at Grassland was hands down the most professional and knowledgable explaining the different product samples, answering our deluge of questions and assuring us the best possible product and plan to defend against the dog! Although the quote wasn't the least expensive of the three - we had all the confidence that Grassland offered a quality product and top notch service. We weren't wrong! Although our job was delayed by a few weeks due to weather when the crew arrived I was totally impressed how thoroughly they cleared the yard of the dreaded wood chips and prepped for turf. I had several questions and even a few changes from the original bid and Darwin (the lead) and Edson (the supervisor) and Allen (by phone) listened to and adjusted the plan with every request! After each days' work the crew swept and cleaned up the yard and walkways leaving everything in tip top shape. We were blessed with a break in the rain on day 4 (they had prepped days 1-3 during wind and rain and just the grossest conditions but to lay the turf they needed a dry day to ensure the best install. I appreciated the attention to detail!) I was again, so impressed watching the crew carefully drive in the nails every few inches and create zippered seams for a flawless finish. They even agreed to dispose of the wood chips (that WE had originally said WE would remove) when we decided to add that service in the 11th hour. They were so accommodating and friendly and really aimed to please. I cannot say enough good things about Grassland's sales reps, supervisors and extremely hard workers. I agree with many of the reviews on here... we wish we would've gotten turf sooner! It looks absolutely beautiful. We are proud of our yard again and... so far so good with the dog! The work crews were always on time, professional, and after each step of the process, they thoroughly cleaned up. The end product is beautiful, a bit expensive for 'grass', but well worth the investment. At the end, our Project Manager, Matthew, visited in person and made sure we were happy. During the process the office, Misha, checked with us several times to explain payment, maintenance, etc. Customer Service tends to be missing from many service companies, but STNW has set the standard.

After a year of on/off effort in attempting DIY turf installation, and watching weeds grow back…read morewhere we dug them out, we gave in and called Kairo. Jody was very polite and accommodating to our schedule. Turf quote was comparable to what we quoted ourselves during our DIY effort. Labor seemed pricy, but I have nothing to compare it to. They did send about 2-3 guys to do the job.... and they got a 450 sq ft area done within 2 days, as they had estimated. Upon completion, the team cleaned up very well... no mess, no dirt on our driveway. I noticed they laid down some cover along our walking path while they performed the job. We did ask for 2 quotes.... The first was higher than planned, so we ask for a requote for a smaller area. Jody was very understanding and prepared another quote. We thought about it again.... and really didn't want the dirt that would need to be maintained, and knew our beagle would want to run in the entire area.... so we decided to go with the initial full quote. WE'RE GLAD WE DID! our beagle loves running throughout the whole turf'd area! and he stays clean!!! Turned out it rained hard this weekend. No problem! Turf drained well... no mushiness under the shoes. Got dirt on the turf?...just flick the grass and the dirt seem to bounce out. We didn't talk about it, but our yard had a few drain features. The crew didn't just cover up the features... they did the right thing and put cutouts in the turn to leave the features exposed. Good call team. They moved one of the two trees as requested. Re-planted well, and left a nice clean cutout and base at the trees. Turf tucked in pretty tight. Love it. :)

All the important components were there including high quality materials. This company had my confidence and my business. The crew of 7, led by foreman Anderson, did outstanding work. As foreman, Anderson made onsite decisions that were brilliant and showed respect for my neighbors and my property. He worked right alongside the crew. The work progressed very quickly from demolition, and tree removal, to materials delivery, through excavation for the footings, quality drainage, wall building with backfill. They even moved my 6'x8' shed out of the way to build and then restored it to its original place! The crew clearly had a lot of respect for Anderson. They showed up early morning, worked a long day sometimes in the cold rain of December and never slowed their steady pace down. They tidied up the site at the close of each day and mitigated damage to existing pathways by putting plywood down to protect from heavy wheelbarrow loads. With the large crew my project was complete in 4 days! Nothing short of miraculous!
