Suggestion: when an electrical receptacle is behind, cut the hole to include the receptacle plate, not just the box. Even though the plate would be slightly behind, it's better not to move the receptacles out. This avoids cracking the plate and the need to use wood screws to fasten things together. One of the first projects I wanted to tackle in our new home was installing some overhead storage racks, tall cabinets, and a small work station in the garage. He was able to provide different storage options that would best utilize the space in the garage. After the consultation, Len provided a written estimate along with a design of exactly what the cabinets and work station would look like. Marla was also great to work with, and she helped me schedule the installation dates - the first one was for the installation of the 3 overhead storage racks (2 above the garage door and 1 above the cabinets). Len, the owner, traveled 35 minutes to meet with my at my house. He left 15 minutes later without a contract. Len quickly assessed the situation and then talked me out of ceiling racks and the installation of more cabinets. My garage ceiling was too low and the racks, once installed, would feel confining. I am surprised I forgot to write a review for Len and Allstar Garage because we got our cabinets done from them about 7 months ago. I'll blame it on not checking in. Our garage was always a mess before getting the cabinets installed. Len gave us the most honest estimate I've ever received. We told him what we were thinking regarding the cabinet layout and design. We have a third car garage that was converted into a room by the previous owner and told Len we wanted cabinets in there. He gave his truly honest opinion--since there's a door that can be closed, why not just put much cheaper racks from Costco in there for storage? If we went this route it likely would have meant a 40-50% reduction in the estimate. We went with cabinets in that room anyway since we had different plans for it but we appreciated the thought. We felt like he was looking out for us. Allstar does not use particle board which we were trying to avoid for longevity and durability. Many other local garage cabinet companies use particle board. They also make custom size cabinets while many other places use prefab ones. Installation went smoothly and the cabinets look great. read more

The only small issue I had is that I needed to drill holes and install my own power strip over the work bench. Very heavy and you can put adequate weight on each shelf. You can put in your own shelves as I did in my old house. There are cabinets from DIY stores that are cheaper and don't look as good. We were in the market for a pretty large garage cabinet job that was to include a desk/workspace large enough for 2 people to sit comfortably at. We got three quotes and while they were not the cheapest, they were also not the most expensive. The employees were so nice, came out twice to rebid and redesign the custom work space and even invited us in to the showroom to see actual installed cabinets. They designed a beautiful work area with a solid butcher block top, and hung our cabinets very well, even on our cinder block walls. Two 4'X8' racks installed in the garage for $549. That is an excellent deal. The racks are fully customizable for length, width and height. We opted for 30" which gives about 27 inches of usable height so we can stack bins on top of each other. Weight limit for that size is 600 pounds so while I cannot go CRAZY with the heavy stuff, I can still load them up pretty good. The racks come with hooks for hanging things like bicycles, hoses, ladders, camp chairs, extension cords. The neighbors walking by saw them and now they want racks too.
