My hubby said our situation was an emergency since the day was supposed to be over 100 degrees with the heat index. My hubby got a call back around 8:00 am from one of the owners. Great communication from the office. While here, everything was explained to me clearly including the cost before they repaired my AC unit. The capacitor was burnt out. They checked everything else out. No additional repair needed. I felt the two men were fair and honest. They were in and out quick. Friendly. I recommend this company. read more

I purchased a new AC unit from AllStar for my parent's apartment in 2020. My parents usually preferred to open window or use fan to keep the light bill down unless the temperature reach to 85+ degree. The working hour for the AC is limited in a year as Chicago weather with hot days in late June to August. It started to made noise . I called service and it was diagnosed the fan blade broken. Got the fun blade replaced, and i needed to pay $249 ($99 for service fee/ diagnostic + $150 1hour rate) to replace the fan. part is cover in warranty within 6 years. With the hot dates approach last week June 2023 , they tried to turn on the AC and found there was not cool air coming out. I called service again and need to paid $279 ($129 for service fee/ diagnostic + $150 1hour rate for one tech) to replace the suction line thermostat yesterday . part is cover in warranty within 6 years. Not happy with the product. the quality is so bad. Even the parts are under warranty, the diagnostic fee + labor fee is a burden to consumer. The 2 service techs are good and friendly, explained the condition well to me. read more

I had these guys come out and inspect and tune up two of my air conditioning units. Everything checked out, I was told freon and pressure levels were normal and I was given a few action items from the tech which I promptly did. The tech, Dan, was a nice enough guy. A week after he came, our suction line was freezing and there was condensation on the line all the way to the indoor condenser. I call back and the company wanted $99 just to come and do a diagnostics test and "recheck" what was going on. The circumstances make it hard for me to trust this company and it doesn't help that they are charging 3x what other places charge for a service call. They certainly did not want to win my business and I am certainly not eager to give it back to them. I will from now on refer to them as AllTalk, Zero Stars Heating and Cooling Corp. read more

READ THIS BEFORE HIRING THIS COMPANY. I called to have an in wall PTAC heating and cooling unit replaced. They said that you rarely need the sleeve replaced and I shouldn't need mine replaced, so I scheduled them to replace my unit and not the sleeve. I assumed that like any legitimate service company, if they come out and find an issue they would not proceed with the installation. They came out and found that the sleeve was pitched inwards. They ignored this and proceeded with the installation against the manufacturers instructions requiring the sleeve to be pitched out. The result is that now water is leaking in when it rains. I have to either pay them or someone else to remove and reinstall the unit and a sleeve. So I'm basically out the money that I paid them to Incorrectly install the unit. At the very least, if you still decide to use this company make sure they come out to inspect the unit first. I was trying to be nice and save them the trip, and they took advantage of this. read more

There hadn't been any issues prior on any of units so again, preventive maintenance. This company came recommended by the building (not anymore) so I didn't do my research like I usually do by checking their reviews prior to hiring them. If I "did" read their reviews, I would have never hired this company. They came out and did the "preventive" maintenance and within weeks there were issues with first the guest bedroom unit which was making a horrendous noise now. Allstar came back out and said that it was "rubbing" and making the noise and is now fixed. Not sure how they missed this the first time as the people next door heard the noise. The next issue that happened was in the master bedroom. Shortly after Allstar came out for their again "preventive" maintenance I noticed a lot of water in my bedroom. My contractor said it was coming from the AC unit. I called Allstar and they came out and said "ooops", we forgot to reconnect the condensate line which meant all the water and debris was now leaking on my newly remodeled bedroom floors and furniture. I had to buy a very large dehumidifier to remove the water which took over 2 weeks. Needless to say, my 8 week old floors were ruined. When Allstar acknowledged their fault they still wanted payment (which was absurd as I'm out thousands at this point). They had zero sympathy for the damage that the owner's own brother caused. That same AC unit ended up with extensive damage from the water and debris that needed a $1000 worth of repair that Allstar is not covering. They have since sent this to a collection agency which shows to the character of the owner. To add insult to injury, they sent me to a sub par insurance company for the claim that hassled me throughout the process. The "ONLY" reason I got paid on the claim was because I put a "STOP PAYMENT" on the Credit Card for the work performed. If "not" for the "dispute" I doubt I would have gotten paid when I did. To sum it up, I wouldn't recommend this company but in case you do, please remember NEVER TO PAY BY CASH and to only USE CREDIT CARDS as this company will not honor it's work with a warranty past a week. Again, ONLY USE CREDIT CARDS so you can dispute the poor work after. read more

Called AllStar to do an AC checkup and cleaning that I saw on Groupon, i hadn't purchased the Groupon yet but they honored the groupon price. Mark came out to my house, checked and clean the AC. He was very friendly and honest. I will use AllStar when Winter gets here for a heater checkup and any other HVAC problems. read more

We're supposed to wait around 4 hours for them to appear at any time between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm for our service call. When we called to ask for a more specific ETA, we were told we couldn't get one because they wouldn't know more until after the morning scheduled services were done. We asked if we were part of the morning scheduled services, she looked and said, "no". Soooooo, if it's not going to be in the morning, why not tell us it will be between 12:00 and 2:00 PM so we can get on with other work instead of waiting for you!??! There are much more reasonable and straightforward Heating and AC businesses to deal with than this one, based on cost alone. Whatever "deal" you get on their AC or Furnaces, AllStar's annual warranty service costs a LOT $$$$$ and makes their "deals" a big financial mistake. read more

I normally don't like to bad mouth mom & pop companies but I had such a horrible experiences with this company, I felt like I had to share. So, I saw a groupon for an AC tuneup for 40 bucks. I recently bought the house and the furnace unit is a bit old and a bit noisy when Starts up.. I called the company to schedule to appointment, and she had someone available. Colin came by and said I needed to replace to motor which wasn't worth it because it was 18 years old and recommended replacing the whole HVAC unit which was understandable. Next, he checks the carbon monoxide levels which he said was reading very high, so he had to shut off my furnace, which I wasn't happy about. I also mentioned that my wife I pregnant and I have a baby son in the way. After he gave me the estimate to replace the whole unit and left. I turned the furnace back on and realize there was a loud knocking noise that I never heard before, so I called the company and asked if he could come back and see why its knocking. Colin came back, opened the furnace door, looked around for 2 minutes and said there's nothing he can do about it but replace the whole unit. I wondered and asked why I never heard this knocking noise before until after he left. I was so paranoid about my family's safety, that I called different places for 2nd opinions and none were available the same day. I even purchased a CO monitor from walmart which read 0 every time. So, desperately looking and yelping for an honest HVAC company, I found Ragano HVAC in Streamwood that had great reviews. As soon as the technician came out and open the Furnace door, he realize there's a piece of paper blocking the fan which caused the knocking noise (easy fix which Colin couldn't diagnosis). He also assured me that the chances of CO leaking was non existent from the way the inside looks. The only thing he recommended was to replace the capacitor which read low and would help decrease the start up noise which I agreed on. He then checked the CO levels in my whole house with 2 high tech machines which always read 0. Now my furnace is a lot quieter and only had to spend 51 dollars to fix and quickly diagnosed the knocking noise. I know I only 40 bucks I spent on groupon for All star furnace tune up but I was so disgusted by their service which I felt like I had to share. These guys ran a special through Amazon Local. I bought two vouchers - one to use for the A/C and one to use for the furnace. When he came to do the furnace he was excited because it was a newer one - he said "You're making my job easy, this is a newer one so it shouldn't be too much to clean up". He was right and after his inspection we gave him the voucher and he was on his way. He had previously been by for the A/C earlier in the year and although the A/C is older there was no issue. This year they ran a similar offer and I bought two more vouchers. This time when he came to inspect the A/C he mentioned freon and the cost they charge if it's required and in my mind I thought "great, here we go. First it needs freon, then a part and might as well get a new system for thousands!" But he checked it and said it was all fine - that made me feel a lot better! They called me when it was time to have the furnace checked about a month ago and again it was a non-event although I asked a bit about a noise we had noticed last year towards the end of the heating season - he said it was running fine at the moment but if anything came up just give them a call. I like that they don't try to sell you anything you don't need. They simply come and do the inspection and notify you of anything that may be a concern and when the A/C wasn't cooling the air as quickly this last time he thought it may be low on freon, but after checking it out and find it all fine he just needed the voucher from Amazon Local - no additional costs. They will charge for freon if they have to add it but I've been lucky so far and have not needed it. read more

Stay away!!! VERY BAD experience. Do not do any business with them. Here is my experience with them few weeks back: The lady who I spoke with (I think she is the owner) was unprofessional, lied to me, was very rude, and hang up the phone on me, and I am their customer!!! This is not the way to treat your customers. I feel very bad about this experience that no one should experience ever again: I gave her an error code which shows on the screen of the AC unit, a new unit I bought only about 2 years ago!!! She did not take the time to check what the error code means, she just claimed right away she doesn't know and a technician must look at it. Well, it was nice if she could have called or forward me to someone who is knowledgeable about it and can give an answer but hey this is against her agenda to milk you for your easy money, right?! The reason I say that is because she right away said a technician visit will cost $99, and that is before they even tell you what the problem is. She gave that X amount and when I said "wow", that is very pricey to pay that amount only to know what the code means and what the problem might be. She then said that there is $20 discount coupon (or something along these lines) on her site I can use. Well. She hide that fact to begin with and she lied about it. That's why I said she lied. If you have a discount copoun why just give the price to me to begin with and not try to get my money in a sneaky way. My other AC unit which runs at least 20 years without any issue did not need a technician visit. at least not in the past few years. Now, that a/c unit with the error code is a new unit (only about 2 years!) and it needs a technician visit and possibly a service!!! This did not make any sense and I told her that. She started comparing the AC unit to a car. a complete unrelated product and ridiculous comparison. A car is completely different with all the oil changes and services it NEEDS. Plus even with a car... particularly a new car - the dealer will check for an issue and if there is an issue with the car there will be a recall and complimentary fix!!! So her comparison to a car not only did not make much sense, but even if it did make sense It was on the customer side for fixing and at least checking the car (new) for defects at no charge. So I simply requested her to give me the contact details of the manufacturer so I can contact them and try to get them service the unit. She refused to give me her contact name and number of the manufacturer, and not only that, she hang up the phone after I just ask to get her specific contacts there so I can have them come and service the unit!!! I would never imagined that someone will treat me that badly. I'm hurt, disappointed, and will never call them again. Stay away so you wont get into similar experience. They do not care about your unit or your money. read more

You installed this furnace and 9 years later we are still having problems. The tech placed all the weight of the furnace on the the drip pan for the air and cracked it that is why it was leaking water all over the furnace. We replaced the circuit Panel twice for the furnace. We glue the crack 2 years ago. It is leaking again. I would not use this company if I were you. Dan did not need to flush out the drain pipes with bleach. The guy Dan never took off the side panel to look at the cracked drain pan. We did have you out 4 times. You think that would be enough. No it was you guys that messed up. Train your tech grew again! Sorry for the bad review but it is very frustrating. read more

I found this company through an Amazon deal, and am so happy that I did. The whole experience with them from appointment booking to service visit was great. The technician was polite, respectful of our home and wore boot covers, did a thorough skilled inspection of our furnace, general maintenance, and only found one issue, which we already knew existed. There was no sales pressure to make a purchase. He even asked if he could leave me some information just in case I wanted the work done in the future. I was so impressed with this company and will use them now for all heating and cooling needs. read more

Totally ripped me off. Charged $355 to clear a condensate drain. I had already cleared the drain prior to their visit (made them aware of this prior to the service call) and had asked that they determine why the water was seeping from inside the housing. I had to open the unit myself and vet vac out water after they left. Even if this was needed it would be an outrageous charge. I tried to work this out with the company and they just gave me the run around. I must have called them 6 times. I would never recommend this company and if I had the time wanted to file a complaint with contractors board.. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't figure out how to give a 0 star rating My guess is they have a few regular customer that give them and good rating. Look they are all or nothing. read more

I bought the voucher from amazon for furnace checkup, Dan came to checkup the furnace, he did very good job, explained things patiently, no sales pressure to sell something other than intended work. when I needed to replace furnace motor assembly I called them, they gave me the quote which is reasonable and comparable to others in the industry. They are very good at what they do, it is very hard to find with so many companies out there. I would recommend them without any hesitation. read more

What terrible customer service. We had scheduled an appointment a month in advance for them to look at our broken heating/air conditioning unit. We were told someone would be there between 11 and 1. On the day of our appointment, we get a no-call, no-show. When we followed up about an hour after the end of our time window, we were told our repairman was at another job and is "running late." More time passes, and still no repairman! Their office then calls back at about 4pm, telling us we need to reschedule even though we had made this appointment weeks in advance, and took time off work to be home for this appointment. If the way they treat their customers is any indication of how they fix units, then I want no part of it. AllStar was extremely disappointing, and I am happy to take my business elsewhere and encourage others to do the same. read more

All Star was great!!! I called and the office manager Ginny had someone come out within 45 minutes!!. The tech was very professional and accurate. We had a wire that needed to be replaced. He had it taken care of within 30 minutes and our A/C is running as good as new! Very fairly priced, customer service was great i will surely be calling All Star again for servicing on my A/C. read more
