While disappointing results can sometimes happen, what bothered me most was the complete lack of communication afterward. I reached out to Masaki on May 13 regarding my concerns and attempted to resolve the issue privately. I never received a response. It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

Appointments became rushed, started late, and lacked even basic professionalism. You're barely greeted when you walk in, and the overall tone makes it feel like you're inconveniencing them just by being there. I told them multiple times I had a head injury from a concussion and the lack of care was very concerning how abrasively they washed and handled my head. My most recent appointment was a complete failure. I asked for a warm, golden brown and came prepared with multiple reference photos. While the color was processing, I clearly flagged that it was pulling purple. That concern was dismissed, and the product was left on longer. The result was the darkest my hair has ever been, almost black with a cool, purple hue. The exact opposite of what I requested. The color job is all mismatched, the lower part of my hair significantly darker, the roots are sloppy and uneven. When I pointed this out, the response was defensive and dismissive. At one point, I was sarcastically asked if I wanted to "bleach it," which is an inappropriate and careless suggestion for already fine hair. It was mind blowing to have this handled so poorly and then be rushed through a cut that does not look anywhere close to the quality of the past cuts. I followed up requesting a refund, given that this will take months to correct and fade, and received no response for over 48 hours. It's not even about the money - it's about the severe lack of respect. What's most surprising is that this level of defensiveness and lack of accountability was unacceptable, especially after such a grave mistake. Instead of thoughtful adjustment and ownership, the response was dismissive in the moment and silent afterward. Mistakes happen. How they're handled is what defines a business. This was not handled well. NYC has no shortage of salons that can deliver both technical skill and professionalism. This is not one of them. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

I was really unhappy with my hair that I went to get a hair treatment (for the dry, damaged hair) and toner at a different salon a week later. That stylist even asked "who did your hair?"

I'll give them an A for effort though although it looked nothing like the picture. The massage was amazing. She did a really great job. Most of my massages are pretty rough but she did a great job with light to medium pressure. I really liked the glass of champagne and the chocolate truffles. The private soak was nice but I really enjoyed the sauna. It was definitely a great experience. Came out feeling revitalized. My boyfriend really enjoyed the massage and the amenities.

If it was possible to give this hidden treasure 10 stars I would! Tom and his team work wonders and they are super friendly. I felt like I had known them forever. I came in with an emergency! My hair was literally yellow, orange and brassy looking from a bleaching gone totally wrong by an inexperienced hairstylist. That morning I was literally in tears seeing how nasty my hair looked. I called allure the minute they opened and Jessica was so understanding and found a way to get me to come in that same day. She booked me for a 6:45 appointment with Tom, I was so appreciative that he, Monica & Wallace stood past 8pm just to finish me up and make my hair look totally brand new! I can't thank them enough!! this has now become my new absolute go to place for my hair. Not anyone can do blonde hair so after my terrible experience prior to going to allure I will never trust no one else. Once again thank you guys!! Also prices are way more than reasonable! After all it is your hair that walks around with you all day every day, why not spend the extra bucks on it. Going the cheaper route always turns out to be more expensive. This salon is AMAZING. The absolute best staff and salon I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. You walk in to friendly smiles from the staff, and right away feel like you are a part of the Allure13 family. After a string of bad experiences with colorists, I was referred to Tom through a colleague from work. When I walked into the salon, my hair was white, orange, black and every other color you can possibly imagine. An absolute nightmare!! I am getting married in four months, and needed someone to help me fast!! Tom took his time and spent several hours with me - I walked out of the salon looking like my hair had NEVER been colored - so natural and so beautiful. Amazing salon all around! The hair dressers are extremely professional and knowledgable about cuts, colors, blow drys, the whole nine yards. The salon is gorgeous and in an amazing location. The interior is just lovely with such a positive vibe and such positive, happy people. The owner Tom is so sweet and so talented!! I wanted to get natural looking ombre hair color--and had tried ombre about a year ago that ended up being two tone and horrible, so I was nervous about getting color done again. My friend told me to see Averil, who she's been going to for years. And she was right! Averil understand exactly what I was looking for and helped fix prior color I had in my hair. Monika is the best stylist I have ever gone to. I trust her completely; she listens well and gives great suggestions. She's also the sweetest woman and I feel like I'm hanging out with a good friend whenever I see her. Going to get my hair done at Allure 13 is truly a relaxing experience. I had an amazing cut with Daniel who listened so closely to what I was asking for and delivered flawlessly. My cut is so edgy and sexyyyy. And then I decided to take the leap (after years of talking myself out of it) to color my hair pink! Eddie knew exactly how to make my pink dreams come true. A true artist and professional. I have been going to Tom for over 6 years and would never let anyone else touch my hair. Tom is a wonderfully talented stylist who has vision for the unique style that is best for each individual's face. I consistently get compliments on my hair and it is due to Tom and his talents. I went and booked an appointment with Averil based on friends recommendations. I have long, thick, brunette hair and have mostly kept my hair dark. I wanted to lighten up my hair, but when I have had highlights previously, they turned out looking too light and harsh. Also, the highlights did not grow out well. Averil took the time to listen and figure out what would be best for my hair. She gave me natural highlights that look AMAZING! I am a month out from my appointment and my highlights still look great. I constantly have people asking if I lightened my hair or if I have been out in the sun. By far the best experience and service in NYC! I moved to NYC from Boston and have had the worst luck getting my color done and achieving the cut and style that I am going for. I have spent a fortune just to be disappointed until I found Allure 13. I am able to give Monika my vision and she brings it to life. Tom has cut my hair since 2006 and every time he does a superb job. I trust him completely, as he always knows best, and always leave the salon with the best hair cut I have ever had. He never cuts too much or too little-- and listens to what I say if I I have a desired length, but most of the time I just trust him to do his magic. Tom also happens to be a very nice an friendly person and is a joy to see and speak with every time I have an appointment. "Monika is not only a master cutter and colorist, but a true artist in her studio. For my initial appointment, she took the time to get to know my long lifeless hair. Jordan is, hands down, the best kept secret in Manhattan. He not only has a keen eye for color but also does a beautiful job cutting hair. He has changed up my look a couple of times over the past 2 years and I couldn't be happier every time. My experience at Allure 13 tops any Hair Salon experience I have ever had. The salon itself is truly charming, the decor unique and tasteful. I especially loved the old school jail chest styling stations. On staff were Tom and Deborah, both exquisite characters and extremely talented. Deborah fashioned the most beautiful trendy updo for me. What's really interesting is that at each stage of the hairstyle I wondered if I should stop her and rock the current development but it just kept getting better as it progressed. Eddie Wunderlich took care of us in this beautiful spa from setting an inspired atmosphere with fresh music, delicious beverages and of course, good conversation. He addressed all of my hair concerns and listened to me carefully when I described past hair traumas. My color came out absolutely stunning and I have been getting compliments on it everyday since. A dear friend of mine suggested I try Allure 13 for a change from my normal colorist (which is not something I love doing). I made an appointment with Eddie Wunderlich. Upon meeting him time was taken to speak with me about my hair color, my hair goals and I was introduced to a colleague to do my cut after the my color services. I can say without a doubt it's the best color my hair has ever been, Eddie was wonderful in terms of service, conversation and even following up with a text to make sure I was happy. Tom is absolutely the best. I have been his loyal client for 8 years. He is the only person that I trust to color my hair. He makes my hair look incredible! He does the best color, cut, blow dry and flat iron. Whenever I am filmed for TV he does my hair and makes it look great! When I leave his salon my hair looks like it is ready for a commercial and heads turn! To make matters better Tom is reliable and fun. I love his new salon. He pampers you- he makes you a Cappuccino to enjoy while he does his work. My husband and my son go to Tom too. He is the only person that they allow to cut their hair. So I don't usually do this cause I'm in grad school but I 150% had to because I'm obsessed with my hair and every where I go people love it!!! I saw Eddie, a colorist at Allure 13 and I initially went in for a deep burgundy but we started customizing my color and got to this deep violet and hey what can I say? You need to be flexible. I ADORE my color. I'm still in school so it's perfect because it's vibrant but also gets more visible in the light so it maintains a great professional and fun hair color! I'm so mindful of my curls but I love switching it up now and then, and I would recommend the salon and specially Eddie! I can't wait to go back!!! BEST COLORIST EVAH read more

Five months since my last haircut and color, but man, was it worth the wait. Jeffrey Jagling (A+A's…read moreowner) is not only a lovely, fun, sweetheart of a guy...he's a WIZARD. He never misses! If you told me a benevolent witch blessed his scissors and dye mixing bowl, I wouldn't argue. A dear friend recommended him after my previous stylist left NYC during the pandemic, and I'm finally happy with my hair ever since. No filters on any of these pics, just different lighting in the salon, in the street outside the salon, and the next day at dinner with my husband. After decades of mediocre haircuts (with the occasional decent one that the same stylist could not replicate the next time), I now love my hair every single time Jeffrey does it. No small trick for coarse, thick, wavy hair that has some natural curl but tons of frizz, and behaves like a science experiment on any given day. With most of my haircuts before him, it was fine in the salon and then impossible for me to style on my own, especially since I only air dry and tend not to use hair dryers except in winter if I absolutely have to -- and I don't even own a curling iron) -- but Jeffrey understands how to cut it in a way that allows me to encourage my natural waves and some curls without needing hot tools to make the cut work. And a great bonus: his cuts grow out nicely and the color fades nicely, too, so I don't have to redo it as often as with other stylists. And, look, I know I should get my roots covered and layered cleaned up way more frequently. But NYC is expensive, Soho is even more so...whuch means working with Jeffrey is a bigger investment than I would normally splurge on -- so, instead of going every 6 to 8 weeks and risking mediocre /meh haircuts from anyone else, I'd rather go to Jeffrey every five months and deal with annoying root touch up powders and sprays in the interim. He's just that good! PS: He has always been so kind about wearing a mask when he cuts my hair, never makes me feel weird about wearing mine, and would even seat me by an open window (even in winter) at their previous salon before A+A moved to a ground floor location. I forgot to take a picture with Jeffrey this time, so the last photo is one of him in March from my last cut.

I was sooo desperate to have my roots fixed and hair trimmed before going on a trip, but going to a new salon as a blonde can be daunting. I booked very last minute and was able to get an appointment within a few days which was awesome. I felt comfortable in the salon with the extra precautions in place for COVID (Only 1 other client and stylist were present in the salon). Once there, Haim knew exactly what needed to be done to my hair. I ended up getting a full foil and trim, and it was a relatively quick experience compared to other salons. My hair felt so soft, fluffy and healthy after, and it stayed like that for a few days. Haim told me that he uses only top-shelf products and I could definitely tell. I am still so happy with the results! It's been about 1 month since I came to Lifestyle Salon and my roots are growing out in a way that is a lot less noticeable than some past experiences I've had with other blond colorists. As someone who has gone to numerous salons across the country- you can tell when someone has experience like Haim and really knows what they're doing. I'm grateful to Haim for doing such a good job with my hair and I look forward to coming back again!

White Hart first attracted me because of James. I used to visit James when he was at Sally Hershberger for cuts and keratin, but then when he moved over to a different salon, I stopped going to see him (not because of James, but rather because I found the front desk staff and assistants very rude there and it was impossible to get an appointment). When I heard that James had opened his own salon, I was thrilled. I was able to book an appointment with ease through their easy to use system. White Hart is conveniently located in on 22nd off the A,C,E 23rd street stop. The salon is in the basement but well marked so easy to find and because it isnt right on the street, I found the salon to be quiet - it almost felt a little spa like. Another bonus is that they use R&Co products which I love and unlike some keratin products, the keratin they put on my hair could be washed that same day (although I waited 24 hours). The salon has great sonos speakers and since I was the first appointment of the day, James let me choose the playlist. The best part is that there is a little garden so when I was done with my appointment, I sat outside and finished my coffee and sent some emails. It has been a week and I am very happy with my keratin and cut and have received several compliments. I plan to come back for keratin and also blowouts and cuts.
