Showed up and the line was blocks and blocks long and I would never wait that long and my hubby reminded me of the place in Chular that his customers told him about and we were off! 10 minutes from Salinas and right off the highway super easy to get to. When we arrived there was a abuelo sitting there munching some pan drinking coffee (reminded me of my grandpa so much) he helped us with a smile and some of the best masa ever, that was 3 years ago and we've been back ever since. I appreciate them their kindness and love he puts into the masa you can tell. My hubby is always quick to remind us that he saved Christmas lol and honestly he did! The almond croissant, sadly, was super dense and soggy. Full of what may have been an almond custard, given the texture and flavor. It was still tasty, but not at all the crispy croissant with the crunchy toasted almond topping that I was hoping for, given the twice-baked name.
