Excellent Sunday night meal--great 29 3 dish special wife and Mom had mussel's and local shark--they were very happy. I had amazing friend Oysters--could have eaten 5 more easy. We always ask for the same waitress, and she's always been so sweet and sometimes when we're lucky she'll pay for our dessert. The interior is so cozy and relaxing. To newcomers, trendy, of course, but to city folks: a bit too folksy, even hokie with Mason jar decor and decrepit walls and floors.Food: very creative, especially for seafood: Octopus tacos, Escargot pernod and all fish dishes truly remarkable. The cross-cultural dishes need a bit of help: the cabbage Kimchi seems to have been stored after preparation a little too long. Avoid quickee, simple snack-shop entrees---e.g. hamburger plates are awful: crumbly low-grade meat, etc. Price: close to NYC. This restaurant has been one of our summer favorites for many years. The food and atmosphere are both fantastic. They are very accommodating of families while also maintaining a lively bar scene and late-night atmosphere. Yesterday, I tried their new 'Meatless Mondays' pre-fixe menu and was really blown away. Never to return to have dinner at Almond. I have never seen such small portions for such high prices. I started with the escargot. The garlic sauce was phenomenal but the size of the snail was about the size of a green pea. I was searching for them but they were hard to find not to mention hard to taste. The cucumber soup was good but not worth $15 bucks. I ordered the striped bass which was the size of 1/2 a deck of cards. Hey was the chef blind or something? Fancy night out dinner in the hamptons. It was quite a scene here on the saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. We sampled a bunch from the menu, but the overall favorite were the mussels. It's also the best bargain on the menu. The service is not the reason to go, although the waitstaff is. Yay for attractive actors waiting tables in the Hamptons to pay the bills. Saturday brunch and very quiet. We are only second group. It fills up a bit but not a lot. Chose this over golden peach cafe down the road. I have had eggs and bacon so nothing exciting. The Almond is a staple of the Hampton's. There's nothing better than pulling into the Hampton's Friday evening, and having a nice dinner at The Almond to kickoff your weekend. I'd suggest making a reservation if you're looking to go on a summer weekend. Around 10pm it turns into more of a bar scene (somewhat sceney, but still fun). I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised! Although we dined on a rather slow night, food was on point. Our server, Fabian, was prompt and courteous. We started with Salmon App over potato chips with capers and something like a tzatziki sauce on a side - very good composition. Almond is a fantastic restaurant, worthy of a evening out. We came here as the capstone meal at the end of our beach vacation and was not disappointed. The food: excellent! The kitchen utilizes extremely high quality and fresh product to create interesting, tasty plates with very solid presentation. The kitchen is quite adept at properly preparing seafood, with minor exceptions (see below). A recent visit's meal included the roasted scallops, and they were of better quality and taste than offered at many competing restaurants in the area. The sea bass with sea beans was done perfectly! The skin was crisp and was an asset to the dish and the perfectly seasoned sauce added to the plate. The deserts are also quite good. Service: The staff works hard to ensure that the service is responsive and friendly, and I found that all staff worked well together to help deliver an outstanding dining experience. But: There are a few modest dings, hence the four star rating. The restaurant has mostly hard surfaces in the dining room, and can be noisy when it's full or nearly full, so an intimate dinner may be a challenge. The staff is very quick to remove dishes from the table, and together with the generally fast kitchen, can feel like they are turning tables. Given the fairly high prices, this is not welcome. It is distracting and mildly annoying to continually answer the staff's inquiry 'still working?', a maddening expression that borders on the uncivil. Also, not everything placed on the table is perfect. The mussels were absolutely delicious, prepared as well as I have seen, but the bowl contained a lot of unopened and shriveled bivalves, something I wouldn't expect at a restaurant trying to maintain itself at the low-end of fine dining. Lastly, the wine list needs to add a deeper assortment of LI wines, particularly white. Very weak on that side of the list. Bottom Line: I would go back to Almond, and recommend that when visiting, you do too! read more

I really shouldn't give any stars because I didn't actually eat here. I tried to, but the host said they were too busy to serve us at one of the four empty outside tables. The wait staff must have trouble walking because my chair was bumped into at least 25-30 time so much that they just stopped apologizing, very annoying. Finally the owner who seemed more interested in fixing the lame disco ball and floating around the Resturant on his hovering "I'm too cool to walk" board came over and offered to take off one of the entrees. So 3 were sent back and uneatable but we'll comp you for one. Moral is go to Pierre's. $417 for awful food without any wine. Also 3 drinks. Worst gin and tonic ever. Had an early Fathers Day Dinner with my family on 6/16/13. Greeted like we were family, promptly seated, great service, salads were interesting and delicious. Firstly, giving this 3stars only based on the food. For the Hamptons it's not a bad place - for the price - the quality is good. Not really had a bad meal there. Again - weighing up the fact that it is the Hamptons - and expectations generally are lower. What I do not understand, at all- is that they should not invite patrons to leave names/numbers for reservations and then never call back. Once - ok - forgiven. Twice? It's rude. Great Friday night gay fun ... But you're not going for the food so much

Went here for dinner last night and was not disappointed! From start to finish, it was delicious. My husband and I each got a signature cocktail to start - both delicious. Started with oysters and the special appetizer of duck wings. Oysters are normally my favorite, but the duck wings took the cake! Perfect blend of spicy and tangy. I never want a chicken wing again! For meals, we had the Mac and cheese and the lamb. Both were tasty and filling. Overall, this is a great place for dinner. Did get a little busy, but good service. Last there after going to the Bridgehampton Chamber Music concert a couple of weeks ago. Never disappoints. Our only problem is the noise level. Incredible dining experience! Jack set us up with a great table overlooking the hip bar and super cool zebra wall covering! Alex, our server, gave us great advice on what to try. The adobo duck taquitos were very flavorful and crispy! My husband had the fluke and was impressed with the fresh flavor- he even ate the greens! The fire alarm went off in the restaurant while we were awaiting our main courses after blasé appetizers and a glass of wine that had to have held 1/3 of a bottle at least, which told us something about how bad the food overall was. Quite a few tables had drunk customers. A lot of them in for the booze. After the fire alarm stopped, it was moments before my 'charred to bits burger' and 'blackened fries' was served to me. Inedible. My husband got 'the magnificently described' soft shell crabs wrapped in 3 inches of panko/corn batter and a large amount of thick aioli. It came with kimchi so salty it burned his tastebuds. Cooled his tongue off with the dry as pretzel batter and bits of crab smothered in flavorless cold slaw. He drove home sober. One mostly drives to and from restaurants in the area. We always choose a designated driver. One couple seated by us left right before us. Let's just say we ran to get to our car before that car was on the road. It's crazy to serve customers so much alcohol that the are staggering and holding each other up when walking to the parking lot. All wrong for $200. Used to be a decent restaurant for fresh tasty dishes. Now they keep the lights so low one can't see one's food. read more

We had an early (5:30) New Years eve dinner reservation so we could catch an 8 pm show at the Talkhouse that night. Upon arrival at 5:20 we were made to wait in the vestibule with other diners unacknowledged while the owner or manager or front of the house guy (Salt shirt on) played amateur DJ and glad handed and coddled his regulars. Everyone else had to wait for him to stop playing celebrity host before they were even acknowledged much less seated. Finally seated, we had a very good seafood tower which is to the credit of their fish monger. The problems started when the food touched the fire. My wife's fish special had to be a four ounce piece of fish uncooked. Of course it was smaller upon presentation. Literally 3 forkfuls of fish for $39.00. Calculates to $13 a bite. No excuse for serving an entree that size. We happily spend more money on fish at LeBernadin and have never felt as taken advantage of as we did at Almond. When I selected the pork chop special I was told how it was going to be cooked rather being asked how I would like it cooked. "We cook that medium rare because that's how the chef says it's best" was the quote. It was raw and inedible. Saw no pork tartare on the menu. We informed the staff upon being seated that we need to be out the door by 7 to 7:15 due to our show tickets and were assured that it would be "no problem because that's what we do". Our server disappeared for 15 minutes at check time. There is no excuse for serving that fish entree and maybe if somebody was in the kitchen monitoring food output rather than dancing around the front door that would not happen. read more

Both the food and the atmosphere at Almond are top notch. In the summer you can sit outside on the terrace overlooking the street, which is lovely. I'm glad it happened to be a Monday when I went, because they were featuring a meatless Monday price-fixe menu. I had vegetable spring rolls as an appetizer, and fried mushrooms as an entree. Both dishes were amazing and it was interesting to try a vegetarian dish that had a southern/bbq feel to it. For an upscale restaurant, it has character and isn't too over-the-top which is especially nice in the Hamptons. read more
