The number of times we have ordered to go for and the orders be wrong, shorted, items left out completely, cooked wrong, overcharged, and various other issues is insane. I try not to complain especially for places we have always been partial to. But when an order is called in and it is plainly stated what is wanted and that the person would order something else if said item is unavailable to be tossed in the sauce and the person is reassured they have it then you expect it to be right. Tonight we had inedible fries, 3 half filled ranch cups to split between all 3 orders of fries, an appetizer of fried pickles, potato wedges, an 6 pc chicken tenders and it was reiterated that both orders needed extra ranch. The chicken was not tossed in the sauce and the sauce wasn't even provided for the chicken tenders. It's all pulled into one plate with no dividers so everything you order gets coated in whatever sides you ordered. The last few times we said we wouldn't order again but we really wanted things to be better because we used to really love it here. Out of the 5 people eating tonight nobody was satisfied and we are at work so we just have to deal with it. Truly disappointed that I have to even leave this review, but the last few times we tried to have things addressed it was met with little concern and/or "oh I'm sorry" but then repeating the same issue again. Let me edit to give credit where credit is due: Went back for correction on one of the plates and they remade it with no issues about it. I still stand by my 1 star just because this has became a consistent issue and the cost of gas running back and forth adds up. We hope maybe in the future if we give it another go then our score can increase and things will be better. We do understand being busy and things being overwhelming but if it is consistently too overwhelming to maintain quality then there may need to be adjustments made somewhere. If you do order just be sure to make sure everything is correct before you leave the best you can. The salmon is always good and the staff sweet and friendly. It is a casual dining environment. They have exciting daily specials and many of the dishes my table-mates have look very good. Went to almost on the lake for the first time on April third and I got tips that were supposed to be medium and they turned out to be overly well My wife got a chopped steak and it looked like it had been sitting on the grill for hours. My daughter got a hot dog that was so burnt that she cou even eat she's 2 years old The wings were about the best of the meal and it was over $40. The weight staff was not attentive to people with children and flirting with male customers that were by their self. There were not many restaurants in Moravian Falls area and the one that we originally wanted to eat wasn't open for dinner earlier. So we went to google map to show us the nearest dinner place and we found Almost on The Lake restaurant. Majority of food that we ordered were fried but they also serve sandwiches, burgers, salad, etc. Our server was an attentive teenager and very friendly. Always made sure we had what we need and made sure dinner were okay. We started with fried pickle as our appetizer and boy oh boy, its like they poured salt on those fried pickle. The ranch dipping sauce really help tone down the saltiness tho. The fried flounder and southwest fried mahi-mahi were good and had a good batter consistency to it. The fried okra and onion rings were good especially the ring onion it was sweet onion in the inside and great fried batter. I had fried squash as one of my side and it was kinda weird to my taste since it's crunchy on the outside but soggy wet squash in the inside. The fried okra and hush puppies were good and I recommend them along with the onion rings. Our children had fries on the side and they were soggy which is weird since with everything being fried the fries was a big disappointment. The cheese quesadilla was okay, the salmon need seasoning (salt and pepper). The portion were generous and my MIL and husband really enjoyed their peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I think the food deserve 3 and 1/2 stars which is pretty average but the service was good. So overall I give them 4 stars food and service combine. read more

All in all, the food was just ok, not terrible, not worth writing home about, just ok. Nothing we had was considered flavorful. Burgers were just blah, no seasoning to speak of. Potatoes (fries/chips) were bland and greasy, severely lacking seasoning. The beef tips were probably the highlight of the meal, but not enough to weight the review any higher. We'll probably try it again and give it another chance, but expectations will be set a littler lower. This location has been several things in the past, all of which seem to have better food than what we experienced. It was hard to rate this two stars because I am all about supporting local businesses. Do want to note this place just opened recently. Went with a group of 5 on a Thursday night and was seated immediately. Waitress was very kind and attentive the entire time. However, you come for the food. First, we ordered an appetizer which never came. When food arrived, 4 out of 5 orders included home cut fries. Which were all cold and were sent back. One person ordered a hamburger (pictured, super chargrilled) and the bun wasn't toasted at all. I ordered sweet potato fries (ok, super greasy and no seasoning) and sautéed mushrooms (awful). The place is a hidden gem. I was compelled to go there based on the menu offerings. Whenever I am given the opportunity to enjoy home cooked meals it's hands down a no-brainer. We were seated quickly and our food arrived as ordered. If you are familiar with my reviews on restaurants you know I sometimes start eating before I take a photo. I really like everything I ordered except the cornbread. It's just preference; I like a good honey cornbread. This was your standard, and it was cooked to perfection. The cowboy beans were good and paired nicely with the salmon. Cowboy beans are a mixed beans made similar to boston baked beans. They are more savory bbq than sweet. The greens were well seasoned too. Our waitress kept my glass filled and was very attentive despite being very busy. The whole atmosphere of this restaurant was a peaceful vibe. People chatted but it wasn't loud. Music was playing but it wasn't overpowering or driving. Checking out was a bit slow, but that gave me time to look at the cool decor. We have went here several times in the past few months. The food is normally good but my last visit (I do mean last visit) was exceptionally poor. Food was bad as well as the service. My wife ordered the special that was flounder and fried shrimp. The taste was so bad she ate the sides but not the flounder or shrimp. I ordered sirloin steak and grilled shrimp which was edible after drowning them in A-1. My wife had moved her plate to the side and the waitress finally asked is she wanted to bag it up and feed it to the dogs or cats. My wife said she wouldn't feed that to the pets. She did ask if they could fix a grilled cheese which they did. Upon paying on the way out, the cashier asked how everything was and we told her about the inedible food. She said she would ask the manager who is her mother about taking it off the ticket. The co-owner asked what the problem was and we said the food was not good. The co-owner said she would have to throw it away and she wasn't going to lose money on it because we didn't like it with a very hateful tone. My wife told her she didn't have to get mad and she responded that she wasn't yet. We said that's fine but we would not be back. She said they have the right not to lose money and if we didn't want to come back, that's fine. She did ask why we didn't tip the waitress and I asked her why we should reward bad service and bad food. I only wish I had thought to tell her that not tipping was our right to not lose money for much less than satisfactory service. This area needs more good mom-n-pops restaurants but unfortunately this location no longer meets the criteria for decent, much less good. read more

My husband and I have gone twice on a Sunday after church. The waitresses are all very nice and keep your drink refilled. I gave them 3 stars because their Western Burgers are really good (ordered them both times), though the first time, it didnt come with any BBQ sauce on it like described on the menu. We got onion petals on the side both times too which are good, but luke warm, plus they're stingy on the amount they give you with your burger. Our biggest complaint though was the potato skin appetizer. We ordered that both times too. Both times, they came out under cooked with the cheese barely melted. The second time, we actually sent them back to be cooked more. I think the cooks must microwave them because there's no brown crisp to them anywhere, just a soggy potato skin with barely melted cheese and bacon(which is cooked, to be fair). They also don't come with anything--sour cream, etc. I doubt we will be back, which is too bad because we want to support local businesses. Considering how many restaurants have been in that spot and failed, they need to really up their game and be special. So far they are not at all. read more
