Stopped here for lunch. Was in the mood for a sandwich. Cute little place on the corner in north Minneapolis. I had heard good things and it was on my list for a while so was excited to try it. Clean place. I ordered at the counter. They told me there would be a 10 mins or so wait for my sandwich which was fine. Ordered my 12 inch turkey pastrami which is their most popular sandwich and a bottled drink. The total was 22 and change before tip which I thought was a little steep. The sandwich came in 4 pieces. Had the pastrami, tomato, pickle, peppers on a soft bread. The bread was fresh and soft. The sandwich was filled well with a good ratio of filling to bread. The taste was very well balanced and fresh. I wish there was more of the pastrami. Overall, I had a good and tasty lunch even though a little expensive. Happy to support a local black owned business. The service here is great. They are extremely friendly and helpful navigating the menu. These sandwiches are incredible. They are a little small, but priced accordingly. This place crushes all the other chains (Quiznos's, subway, jersey mikes... etc). If you're ever able to choose this over them; do it. The bread is soft. It's warm! This place is easy. I've gone in and ordered. I've called in my orders. Every time it's amazing. My go to is the chicken wrap. That Sammy sauce is delish. I then add some banana peppers and I am good to go. But the desserts! Wow. Sooooo good. The last one I had was a apple crumble cheesecake. Why haven't I had this before? Anywhere???? Amazing pretty much sums it up! I stopped in during lunchtime and Mrs. Kimberly and crew were busy whipping up a 144 sandwich TakeOut order along with multiple online orders. Not only did they provide EXCELLENT customer service they also were prompt in helping all the walk in customers as well! I had the Turkey Club, it was amazing. I seen a salad and wrap that someone ordered that looked amazing. The soup portions are HUGE and come with house made croutons that are ALSO huge and delicious! For lunch delivery to an office meeting (12 people), the delivery fee used to be $6.99. Now, they are charging $75.00. This has not been updated yes on their website, which is why one star is the rating. I'd happily pay more than $6.99, but the hike to $75.00 (within Minneapolis or $150 outside of MPLS) is outrageous. read more

I tried Sammy's today and enjoyed it! I got the breakfast sandwich with pastrami on garlic toast, a latte and a slice of their sweet potato pie. The latte and the sweet potato pie weren't great, but the sandwich was really good. I'm excited to go back and try their lunch sandwiches. The staff was also kind and helped me choose my sandwich with it being my first time. Your order may take 10-15 minutes if they are busy, there was one cook and one person working the register at the time that I came (around 1pm). I suggest trying Sammy's if you'd like some flavorful breakfast/lunch on the go--but maybe not if you're in a rush. Their magic may take a lil time, it's a neighborhood gem. There's lots of construction happening all around this restaurant during the day so I ended up parking in the large parking lots across the street and walking over, it was easier to pull out that way too. read more

I got the chicken salad sub and it was to die for. Super good and high quality food. Only complaint is delivery. I think they use one of the food delivery people (Grubhub, Uber eats,etc.). I was made aware that my food was there and I went down to the lobby of my busy office building and the delivery person has just left it laying in a public access area while he walked out in his own cloud of weed smoke. read more

Just noticed I never finished the review I started way back over the summer! (But in covid, what is time anyway?) I got a couple egg & cheese breakfast sandwiches and coffees delivered. You can order right from their site, which is nice. I remember getting a 12-inch, but Sammy's website only shows a 6" wheat hoagie option now. Who knows. The bread was good, nice and soft. The sandwich was straightforward, no frills, but it was seasoned right, just some salt and pepper, and had good amounts of egg and cheese. One drawback for me was that the latte I got was pretty sweet, even though I hadn't selected any flavor shot or sweetening options. It was still good, just not what I was expecting. I've since moved away, but otherwise, I'd be back! read more

We had 2 sandwiches one breakfast and one turkey club lunch, the dressing was very good and we were pleasantly surprised by the large size of the club, we shared it between three people. The breakfast sandwich was good as well. The one thing that was amazing was the banana pudding, perfect with a nice balance of cookie, pudding and whipped cream. read more

This is a very nice sandwich shop by my work. I just stopped in for the first time. I got the veggie sandwich. The veggies were thick cut, and it comes with mayo and a very sweet mustard. If I go there again, I think I would have to ask for it without mustard. You can get a six inch or a footlong. I only got the six inch, but I didn't find it to be very filling. I also got chips and a soda. The chips were great, but the soda selection was very limited, and mostly diet, which I don't drink. The staff was polite, but not overly friendly. As a kid who grew up on the south side of Minneapolis, my feelings about the north side have always been negative. Parents, grandparents and friends constantly reenforced my fear about how terrible this part of Minneapolis was. And then I went there. Yes, there is crime over North. Yes, it looks a little different then the neighborhood where I live. But there are great little places like Avenue Eatery, where the manager is kind and welcoming, the coffee is magical and you can get healthy food, which is in short supply on this side of town. It's places like this that have the potential to change peoples feelings about North Minneapolis. Escape your preconceived notions and head down Broadway and grab a cup of coffee. The White Zombie, which is this crazy white espresso that you can't find anywhere else in the Twin Cities, is the best coffee beverage in the Twin Cities, and it just tastes like sweet milk. Until you get the crazy rush of caffeine as you drink it. Magical, I tell you. Get it on ice, with a shot of caramel. Or on a chilly day it is great hot as well. read more

I'm fairly certain I've just eaten the best sub sandwich of my lifetime. I took one bite and opened up my Yelp account to type this. But, I can't put the sandwich down long enough to type more than a few words in, before going back for another bite. I ordered the turkey pastrami on a hoagie bun. Their menu is normally displayed on a TV screen, but they had the world cup on, so the nice gentleman at the counter gave me the run-down on the menu. I will always take the opportunity to eat pastrami when it's ordered, so that was an easy choice. The sandwich came to my table topped with white american cheese, tomatoes, fresh romaine lettuce, pickles, and this insanely delicious dressing that reminded me of a honey mustard, light on the mustard. It came with extra dressing and hot peppers on the side. The hot peppers and the dressing alone MADE this sandwich. I would drink that dressing out of a cup. I can only assume it's homemade. Lastly, the atmosphere was so bright and cheery. They have a garage door front that pulls up, and lets you feel like you're drinking your coffee on a patio. I'm hoping to conquer a great deal of homework now, without feeling like I'm missing out on summer. read more

Front window is actually a large garage door which opens up, and it was a beautiful day out to enjoy a fresh brewed piping hot coffee and the fresh air! Excellent service. I hope to be back again. YUM! I ordered from Sammy's multiple times while having to visit family at the hospital. Every time delivery was extremely fast, and the sandwiches were AMAZING! One good sandwich can turn your day around and make it a great one. There's something about Sammy's special sauce that makes you crave 5 more sandwiches from this place... and the bread! Oh my lord, the bread! It's so flavorful, you're going to go home and throw out that bland loaf bread you have in your pantry because NOTHING compares to this bread. I tried a few different sandwiches, and no matter which one you order they always give you plenty of meat in there ( probably the most important part?).
