Stopped by for lunch one day and it did not disappoint. I ordered the grilled trout sandwich and the hot beef pastrami. The grilled trout sandwich looked a bit burnt but tasted great. Maybe a bit salty for my liking though, so I likely wouldn't get it again if I came here. The beef pastrami was my favorite, great smoky flavor with the right amount of lettuce and tomato to balance out the fatty meat. You can tell the potato chips were made fresh, they were so light and crispy, soooo yummy! I would recommend this as a great lunch place for others!

YOM YOM YOM! Opening a few months ago, Carbon Kitchen is bringing the heat with these delicious pastrami sandwiches and much more! All of their ingredients are made in-house or locally sourced. Their pastrami is made in-house and takes 5 days! Brined for 4, rubbed for 1, then smoked on the grill. They get their bread from a local bread shop (Denny's) and all of their sauces and slaws are also made in-house. After talking with Kurt (who was super cool), he recommended I get the classic beef Reuben ($13.50). Thank god I listened to him because it was the best reuben I have ever had in my life! The pastrami was melt in your mouth & the sauerkraut slaw was tasty! It brought a delicious crunch and dimension to the sandwich. With the sandwich also came housemade fries which were also very good and flavored well. I will definitely be coming back to try other sandwiches! Thanks Kurt & all the other workers for a great experience and delicious food!

Adorable shop in Northeast, husband and I had an amazing lunch here last weekend. I ordered the French dip and my husband got the salmon sandwich. My French dip was absolutely perfect! Moist, savory, and definitely hit the spot. My husbands salmon sandwich though -- oh my god I've never had a tastier sandwich in my life. The salmon was grilled to absolute perfection, still flakey, so moist, and so delectable. We also learned they make their own soup broth and had just pulled out a rack of freshly broiled soup bones so we HAD to try their French onion soup. It was a bit on the sweeter side but still tasty. Highly recommend, has a modern rustic vibe but minimal seating. Sandwiches come out super fast and the staff are all very patient and kind. Highly recommend getting some of their fruit infused water in the corner!!

Ordered for pickup. It was ready within 20 minutes. Food was incredible! Had a "grain bowl" and gluten free sandwich. Everything was delicious!

This place was great! The incredible smell of the pit roasted meats when you walk in is by itself enough for 5 stars. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond to take care of us. Anything on the menu you can get on a hoagie or as a grain bowl, salad, or sandwich. Rotating cooler of local beers and everything else is local too, what else could you ask for?! Plus, it's women owned, I'd give it more stars if I could! Side patio has several nice picnic tables and is very dog friendly, they even brought us out a water bowl for our dogs! We will absolutely be back!

Super excited to have a new sandwich shop in the neighborhood! Even more excited that it's SO FRICKIN GOOD. Super cute interior, with tables and wimdow seats for eating - but also available for take-out (which is what we did). We got the chicken club and the pit beef - both came with chips! The pit beef was SO GOOD - The bun was tough enough to handle it but still tender and chewy! The chicken club was very good as well - tangy spicey - bacon was cooked nice and crispy and the perfect amount of kick to it and the ciabatta was wonderful. Excited to try more of their menu!

My opinions are just as much rooted in the emotion attached to each bite. We live in Texas but spend lots of time in the Twin Cities. I'm a vegetarian, so I put off going to Diane's Place because it felt like the options for me were relatively limited. Boy, am I kicking myself for waiting! I told my wife after our first meal at Diane's Place this weekend that I compared the first bite (which happened to be the green scallion croissant) to my responses to certain music. As a musician and audiophile, hearing something moving or stirring can illicit a very visceral emotional response. I experienced a very similar response with that very first bite. My appreciation for the art of cuisine brought to perfection by Diane Moua literally caused my eyes to well up. This may sound like hyperbole, but it is not. The egg rolls were light and crispy and oddly nostalgic. The bamboo & cabbage swimming in coconut curry was my entree. On its own, it is perfectly balanced with the right amount of salt, acid, and umami. I tacked on some sticky rice and Hmong hot sauce...use with caution! It's potent but so delicious. Given Diane's background in pastry, don't skip dessert! We loved our experience so much on Sunday for dinner that we very quickly made a brunch reservation for Tuesday. Connor and Simon were extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.

You order at the counter when you walk in, and if you're eating there, they give you a number to bring to your table. We managed to snag the last outdoor table for two. I ordered the classic breakfast sandwich and my partner got an iced chai. The chai easily made our top three, and the sandwich was just the right size on a light, flaky croissant without feeling overly heavy. Such a nice spot for a simple breakfast or light lunch. Afterward, we took about a 15-minute walk through the neighborhood to the park along the river, which made for a perfect little morning. Definitely recommend, and we'll be back!

The space is cozy, filled with natural light from the large windows, and has plenty of seating, including comfortable spots near the fireplace. It's usually quiet enough to focus, and since it's right by the Mississippi River, it's the perfect place to grab a coffee and take a walk afterward. I also love that there are other local shops nearby, making it easy to spend a few hours in the neighborhood. On this visit, I came on a Saturday around 9:30 a.m. with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We were surprised by how busy it was--the line was almost out the door--but it moved steadily and was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Bananas Foster Latte, which was absolutely delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and topped with vanilla cold foam and a caramelized banana slice. It felt like such a fun twist on a classic latte, and the large size was perfect. For food, we shared the Breakfast Flatbread, which was one of my favorite things we ordered. The combination of house-made ricotta, mozzarella, confit tomatoes, onions, eggs, and garlic olive oil was flavorful, hearty, and easily enough for two people to split. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich with maple mustard glazed ham, which came with a side salad and was equally satisfying. One thing to know before you go: Silver Fern is definitely on the pricier side. My latte and the flatbread came to about $28 before tip. I also wish they had a few more hot breakfast options since much of the menu leans toward pastries and baked goods. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the atmosphere and the people. The owner is incredibly kind, and the baristas were especially thoughtful with my friend's nut allergy, taking the time to answer questions and make her feel comfortable ordering. I also really appreciate that they offer 20% off for students and teachers every Tuesday, which is such a thoughtful way to support the local community. If you're looking for a cozy café with excellent coffee, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere--whether you're meeting a friend, working remotely, or grabbing a drink before a walk along the river--Silver Fern is absolutely worth a visit.

Great things: my espresso martini was amazing. As an espresso martini addict, I'd consider this one a top in the cities. The patio space is fantastic, every single person got greeted when they walked in and thanked when they walked out. The bartender was very friendly and even gave us a suggestion for somewhere to go after for dinner. Unfortunate thing: The service. We didn't actually start at the bar. We started at a table on the patio and sat for about 10 minutes watching the server walk around us, she was obviously busy so that was fine, but after seeing 3 tables served who came in after us she finally walked to our table and said she'd be right with us after she put in the orders. Cool cool. Well, unfortunately, when she came back outside she did not come to our table and instead walked around taking orders from more people who came in after us and that's when we decided 20 minutes was too long and we went into the bar where the services was good. The outdoor server did apologize to us, and we do understand she was busy, but at that point we nixed the appetizer and just had cocktails due to it being later than planned and wanting to get to dinner. I'd definitely go again, like I said - fantastic espresso martini, but I did want to be honest about my experience.
