Our server was very polite and attentive. Even the owners (or maybe their partners) were very accommodating and were very helpful when we asked about their party accommodation. I am looking forward to trying their breakfast buffet. I believe it's cheaper on weekdays. I've been to their other location and that one is hit or miss. It's so popular that your order can take almost an hour long. I didn't have that issue at this location, but I was also there first thing in the morning. I was there for Filipino breakfast. This is something I grew up with. Beef tapa (almost a drier jerky but nice chewy feel), fried garlic rice, and topped with two deep fried eggs. It's salty, savory, and delicious. They garnish it off with a slice of raw cucumber and tomato which cuts the fatty salty flavor profile of the dish bring it balance. For the truly traditional they give you Filipino vinegar which I douse the eggs and tapa with. This plaza is a Filipino plaza stock full of Filipino restaurants and a seafood city. Parking is plentiful, but the driving not so great (I say that as a Filipino) and even in the morning people were parking over designated lines. The interior of this location is spacious. I had a good experience at Almuchow (West Covina). I ordered the Longsilog ($15) and Pansit Mix ($16) for To-Go. The food arrived picturesque! However, the flavors felt fairly muted. It tasted like a "healthy" version of Filipino food. Still, my 83 year old Filipino Grandmother (who's now averse to too much seasoning) genuinely enjoyed this modern interpretation of pansit. I arrived at Almuchow (West Covina) on Sunday (around 3:16PM). Parking is easy. The lot is big. Surprisingly, Almuchow (West Covina) had taken over the old location of Bistro Filipino. Almuchow (West Covina) had relocated to this new spot in late December. Staff is very professional, welcoming and friendly. Staff works hard. I observed how Staff worked nonstop throughout my visit. My food took 14 minutes and five seconds. Good time! As mentioned, the Longsilog ($15) and Pansit Mix ($16) appears beautiful. Although it lacks the usual saltiness & oiliness of traditional Filipino food, it felt health conscious with comforting textures. The ingredients tasted clean. The Longsilog's sausage had the familiar sweetness of the Longanisa, but it felt more comparable to a meatball/meatloaf version. The Pansit also had the wetness and length of the usual dish, but it tasted muted. Still, the food felt well-intentioned and filling. Regarding ambiance, Almuchow (West Covina) is spacious, clean, and welcoming. I appreciated how Filipino music played on its speakers. The flat screen TVs even showed filipino musicians. This is always my go to spot for office potlucks, but I also come here just for myself. The beef caldereta is my favorite, but honestly everything on the menu is good. The sinigang has a great sourness, and the breakfast items are really solid too. I feel like I've tried most of the menu at this point, and it has all been consistently good. I went to a friend's party one time and liked their food. She had mentioned she ordered from them, so I got food from them on my daughters bday back in April. I ordered their 5 medium party trays: pancit, pork sisig, tofu and green beans, kaldereta, and chicken adobo. We came around 2 on a Saturday and there were a few tables with guests. Staff are nice, minor language barrier (as we don't speak Tagalog and it was our first time here) Portions are generous. We ordered the mango, calamansi juice and gulaman (black grass jelly) crispy pata (fried pork), pork kare kare (pork curry), and rice meal with chicken BBQ. We had a lot of leftovers. Everything tasted good. We were not expecting the crispy pata to be a huge foot/leg. Neither the pata or the calderata came with rice so it was a lot of meat.
